I related when I first watched the show, but now that I've been diagnosed, rewatching makes me realize (whether the writers intended it or more likely not) -- Chidi has SEVERE OCD. His obsessions and related compulsions fall under the subtype of Morality/Ethics OCD, along with themes of Rumination and Decision-making. I didn't see it before because I knew very little about OCD, but now I can't unsee it. It's so debilitating, so constant*, and Chidi as a character is a perfect example. So then we hit this episode and he gives that fork-in-a-garbage-disposal talk and I go "Oh. OH." knowing why I relate now, and my heart just aches for this fictional character that he lived his whole life never knowing or getting treatment. Most people with undiagnosed OCD think there's something wrong with them inherently, and blame themselves for not being able to quiet the garbage disposal. I know it's almost certainly not intentional, but if Chidi were a real person, he'd have it. Whoops, I rambled :P Anyway, great reaction as always! *Edit: for Chidi it's Kantstant ;D
