Eddie being the best friend and figuratively knocking Buck in the head by reminding him that Christopher never feels sorry for himself and Buck should get off the self pity train.... doing it in a way that Buck heard him and can't get mad about, because it is 100% true.

Also, I know you were saying that you didn’t realize that season 2 only had 18 episodes, I read about why that might be yesterday. There’s a couple theories; Ryan Guzman’s (Eddie) contract is only for 16 episodes a season, so I guess they don’t want to exclude him from 6 episodes a year. But the other reason is because the show is so expensive to make; all the emergencies plus the amazing cast they have. The main stars that make up the FireFam + Athena want the chance to do other projects while continuing 9-1-1. With only 18 episodes a season, they can have more time for that during their breaks. The only season to not have 18 episodes (besides season 1) is season 4; because of Covid it only has 14 episodes.
