Chidi speaks a ton of languages, English included -- French is just his first and therefore his default, so that's what he was speaking in the "good place"

2022-12-21 01:32:20 +0000 UTClove this finale! season 2 is my fave season (all 4 seasons are incredible though!) as it really is Michael's season. the first words of episode 02x01 are "okay, here we go" and it's Michael, as a demon, determined to perfect his evil torture chamber, and then the last words of 02x12 are "okay, here we go" but this time, Michael's a completely different being, and it's now because he's watching his 4 friends prove that humanity can be good. so so moving. can't wait for season 3!

2022-12-17 06:58:10 +0000 UTCI used to watch re-runs of Cheers on late night TV when taking a break from college studies, so when Ted Danson turned around and did the towel flip over his shoulder just like he used to do as a bartender on Cheers, I was so surprised to find myself getting a little teary! It was so crazy. I also got emotional when Michael saw that Eleanor had gone to meet Chidi and said, "Okay. Here we go." It was like he knew, she's gone to meet one of the people who make a real difference in her life, someone she needs in her life, and in that community she will grow and change and be that better person. And I thought, oh this is going to be interesting. Can't wait to see what you think of season 3!! :)

In the pilot we learned that chidi didn’t speak English just in “the good place” all languages sound the same to the person hearing them. Yet this is real life and now he speaks perfect English
