I haven’t watched the originals and if you start doing them simultaneously I would watch with you! Can’t wait to see what you decide.

2023-01-31 05:19:32 +0000 UTCI started watching TO after TVD, and they can MOSTLY be watched separately. But here are a couple of crossovers that make much more sense if you watch them together. Especially the one in TVD season 7/TO season 3, that makes sense only if you watch the two episodes together. Also, some people say that if you watch all TVD first and then TO there are no spoilers, but I disagree. There are a few instances, especially in season 7, where it's mentioned what the originals are up to, and it means that it will spoil TO for you if you haven't watched until that point. My suggestion, just like every spin-off series, is to alternate episodes of the two. It will seem like it takes longer, but I think it's worth it.

2023-01-30 19:01:39 +0000 UTCSome reactors watch The Originals after watching TVD to keep track of one show, and despite there being a crossover, it won't matter as much as long as you are further ahead one season in TVD than the Originals (ex. TVD S5, TO S1) (ex. TVD S7, TO S3). Now, the lot of us, like myself, watched the shows as they aired, and keeping track of when to watch episodes can be complicated. So, I suggest, if you do wish to watch them together, to follow the guideline via the website Jtozee gave (that list is very helpful). Do note that the Originals was written as a standalone, and there are many people who watched it before even watching TVD. So, if you chose to watch it after TVD, you will be completely fine. Just whatever you choose to do, you must watch TVD and the Originals before even starting Legacies, if you do end up watching it.

2023-01-30 18:09:35 +0000 UTCI'm a fan of watching them separately...if it were me after seeing all three shows (VD, originals, and legacies) I watch them back to back - all of Vampire Diaries then the Originals and then Legacies. They all have their distinct premise and even the crossover episodes they did do with VD and Originals are fine if you don't watch them simultaneously - you will not be lost.

2023-01-30 16:56:41 +0000 UTCThe Originals premiered when Season 5 kicked off for Vampire Diaries. So you should watch season 4 until you see the backdoor pilot for The Originals (Season 4, episode 20) then you can start the Originals and watch them separately
