Robin Williams was so protective of Nathan Lane who was not a big star and not ready to talk about being gay at the time and Oprah was trying to get him to discuss his sexuality on national TV so Robin just derailed the conversation to something else. He was such a special person. The woman who plays Val's mom is Christine Baranski and she can sing so well, having been in a handful of musical movies. Any time I see her in one, it's an instant favorite for me.
