GLEE | 4x7 'Dynamic Duets'

Comments

22:22 looks like Marley punches Travis and he just takes it. 🤣

Sam Dulisse

Ido hate how Tina still seems to be in the shadows

Staton Chapman

I’m never going to get over the fact that Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoit play such big rolls in both Glee and their respective CW shows. Plus the fact that Darren Criss shows up in a very special episode of the Flash that ties it in such a perfect little bow for my nerdy heart. I watched those before Glee and I almost had a heart attack when the two of them showed up 😂😂

I love this episode not just because of the songs but also because they did special education for the most part right! I myself have had a learning disability all throughout my school years and I was lucky we found out about it early on and I started testing/learning new skills to help me in middle school…. I had an Individual Education Plan or IEP all throughout my middle school years and high school years… which really helped… I was also in speech therapy for 6 years as well during this time before I got to high school… being someone with a learning disability is hard because it’s a disability that can’t be visible if you dont know where to look to find it… so most people I meet don’t realize I have a disability until I mention it and the adults while I was growing up outside of the school system never truly believed (besides my mother) how much I was struggling in school because my brain works differently… my learning disability was mainly affectinf the classes for math, science, and English… I always struggled in those classes but classes like history which focuses more on memorization than anything i soared in… which is probably why when it came time to pick a major in university I chose history because it was the easy choice

Becca Tobin once again being in one of the best duets of the entire show!! I really think she's one of the best add to the show when it comes to series regular! :)

leslie martin

Holding out for a hero is one of the best performances in the whole series.

Ryder’s dyslexia storyline really hits hard. All throughout school every report card said things like “She has so much potential, if only she would try harder.” Or “She is really smart, if only she could focus and stay on task.” My younger brother was diagnosed with ADHD at five years old and no one though to look at me and my struggles (or my younger sister) because I was well behaved, followed the rules, was quiet, and not disruptive. Turns out I am autistic and have ADHD and way too good at masking. I should have an Oscar for my acting as a neurotypical despite my internal struggles. During quarantine, though, that mask shattered and wow, that was fun.

Annie Willow

Ah, that makes sense

Holding out for a hero is so good!!

Guillermo Orozco

I love Blam so much.

MelGoethals

Puck snapping a pick of the homeless guy throwing up on Barbara Streisand’s star you just know he’s sending that to Rachel lol

Kammy

I said it before and I’ll say it again, Finn really is the main character of this season!❤️🤷🏾‍♂️

Well, I believe everything I wanted to say has been said already by the others above in the comment section and it seems pointless to repeat all that lmao. That's why I'll say only this: I. Love. Becca. Tobin. Yes. I said Becca Tobin, as I meant the actress, 'cause Kitty has got some issues and it takes some time to even sympathise with her persona, not to mention, to like HER. In my opinion, this episode really showcased what I love about her and what made me fall in love with her, that is her looks and her voice. Wow I didn't want to write much and just wanted to express my feelings about her, but it seems like it didn't work out entirely lol.

The video quality difference Is from them switching to digital cameras from film cameras to save money at the beginning of season 4. They were one of the last network series to make the switch. The writing difference is because Ryan Murphy and company were now also working on American Horror and less involved.

Jonathan

I believe Alex was filming the movie geography club but idk for sure.

Angel Garcia

I can't really say much without spoiling things for Travis, but these things do happen later in the season.

I guess the only other thought I have then about it is that I wish they'd addressed what Kitty did by having there be consequences, apologies, remorse, some kind of tangible growth... so that the audience isn't left thinking this is all just okay...something more like the arc we saw with Karofsky's character would've been appropriate I think.

I've seen people say this before but I think that's a misunderstanding. Kitty saying these horrible things to Marley in a jokey way is deliberate, if she said them bluntly then Marley would just be like go away. Kitty is manipulating Marley into thinking that she can be trusted and that she's a friend and that all the things she says about everyone saying Marley is fat behind her back are true. Kitty says these things as jokes so they don't seem mean. And that's very much what happened to my friend. She relates to this portrayal SO much. Also you have to remember that Glee was a comedy show with drama elements, it wasn't a full on drama. And it also aired at 8pm on a weekday. So there's only so deep and so dark they could go with this sort of subject. If you disagree that's completely fine, but I personally think that they really did a good job with this particular storyline.

Siobhan Linehan

The issue I have with the eating disorder portrayal is not the story but the tone of it. It all comes off as too much of a joke to me and not taken seriously enough for what is going on. Kitty's lines to Marley about purging are delivered like there's supposed to be humor and it's definitely not something that should be funny 👎

scarr

This aired so long ago, I can't remember, but I'm glad I'm not crazy 🤣

Ilsuk Yang

Omg where WAS Unique this episode?! I knew they did that with Sugar and Joe throughout this season but Unique's part of the main cast at this point I thought?

This is a fun one and I definitely enjoy the music - sign me up for any episode with Blaine singing in 3+ songs, yes 👌 I've always been torn about him at Dalton vs. McKinley. I too loved him as the lead Warbler and loved every number we got from them, but I'd miss him not being part of the main crew or seeing him as much. So I think he made the right call. And yes this means we get more Blam 😝 I really liked the handling of Ryder's dyslexia story arc in this. I conduct evaluations in schools similar to what was shown and have worked with many teens with dyslexia who are super bright, creative thinkers but are not conditioned to realize those strengths and instead are made to feel inadequate as Ryder expressed, and it's heartbreaking. Finn's words to him about his brain just working a little differently was exactly the right thing to say, in my opinion. The world needs neurodiversity! 🧡

scarr

It's funny that Marley said the whole 'superhero/heroine' thing isn't for her since her actress (Melissa Benoist) plays Supergirl in the show Supergirl. They did do Tina and Artie dirty in this, especially Tina! After Blaine, Tina and Artie are the best singers in this episode (where's Wade/Unique in this?)! Plus, it's their senior year!

Ilsuk Yang

Yeah, Marley asking Jake out because she perceived Ryder's situation as him blowing her off pisses me off

Ilsuk Yang

I'm so glad you enjoyed this, it's one of my favourite episodes. Really great songs, especially Some Nights, and it's overall an uplifting story. This is the episode that really made me love Ryder. I liked him before now but he was just a typical jock type until we got this big revelation about him. He's been so standoffish because he's had this secret weighing him down for so long, but now it's out in the open and he's free to be himself he's much more chill and I like that a lot. I just really do love his character. What I also love is Blaine and Sam in this episode, or Blam as they're known lol. Their storyline this season is one of my favourites of the whole show. It'll be interesting to see what you think as the episodes go along. The only things I don't like are Kitty still being so awful and manipulative towards Marley and forcing her into an eating disorder. I know you said you felt they could've handled it more sensitively, but I personally think they actually did a good job portraying it realistically. I'm close to someone who had an eating disorder due to bullying and her story is shockingly similar to Marley's, it happens like this more often than you realize. There are some nasty people out there unfortunately. And I also didn't like how Marley treated Ryder here. Ryder confided in Marley about his diagnosis and asked to reschedule their date, not to throw it away completely, just to push it back a week so he could see a specialist, which is totally reasonable. But Marley was all annoyed at him and then immediately went to ask Jake out without even talking to Ryder about it. Like that's not nice. I give Marley a pass this time because she's going through a lot, but I still think she was wrong here. Ok, I think that's everything I wanted to say lol. I get too passionate about this show. 😂💕
