5.2 - Public Relations

Greetings everyone!

Public Postings

So, I'm sure the first thing you've noticed about this week's devblog is that it is indeed posted publicly! This is because I have a few announcements to make today, which will be of interest to patrons and non-patrons alike.

I've been thinking a lot lately about how to more people involved and informed, and I think I've decided on a pretty good system.

Starting with next week's weekly devblog, I'm going to start giving each post a one-week (7 day) early access timer. This means that those supporting the project will continue to receive up to date information and development status, while everyone else will still be able to get a good look at what's coming down the pipe, albeit at a slight delay.

I make it a point to be active and responsive in the communities I'm involved in, and I think this will be a good way of communicating with the communities, while still offering my supporters something worthwhile.

Now, there is a caveat. Due to Patreon's increasingly stringent policies on adult content, any adult imagery I have to share with the community, as well as some in-depth art posts, will be limited to patrons at the Intern tier and higher. This is both as a way of keeping the project safe, as well as providing yet another benefit to supporters.

I'm hoping this will strike a good balance between all crowds, but please offer up any feedback and opinions regarding the change!

Okay, But What About the Patch?

As it stands now, patrons have had access to 5.2 for about two weeks now. Since its release, I've been working on 5.2b, which will be adding an interactive scene for Dakota, as well as cleaning up her content in general.

I'm happy to announce that 5.2b has been effectively completed, and is now in the final testing stages. Alpha 5.2b will be releasing this Friday to patrons.

In addition, since 5.2b marks a clean endpoint for current at-home content, I will be releasing 5.2b to the public on Friday, March 2nd, both here and at TFGS.

For those still playing 5.1.11, this new release will offer a lot of new content to play through!

Give it up For Johnny

Finally, I have some art to share! We've been seeing lots of the female characters, but not much in the way of the men. Well, let's take a look at everyone's favorite office douchebag, John!

Sketch

Here we see not only his initial sketch, but where he stands in terms of height compared to Sophie (middle) and the MC (right). One thing that's been occurring behind the scenes, which I should be able to share fully soon, is that RD and I have been making a second pass on the game's main cast to adjust heights and proportions. This should guarantee a bit of variety when multiple characters are on-screen. Moving on...

Final

And here we are! John's artwork has him looking a bit older and rougher than he does in the game, and I think it suits his written personality well, especially once I get his expression sheet in.

For those just joining us, I highly encourage you to take a look at THIS post for more information on the game's art direction.

Anyway, that's it for today! I hope everyone's looking forward to getting their hands on 5.2b (Likely shipping as 5.2.11) as I'm excited to finally get it out! I also haven't forgotten about hitting the 1,000 patron milestone, and I have a special surprise in that regard which should be coming soon.

As always, thank you everyone for your continued feedback and support!

Comments

I really love your idea for including patrons and also non-patrons, because after all, we want to provide the best experience for the person playing the game. We can't ignore large number of non-patrons who love the game, but for some reason can't afford it, but possibly will be able to afford it in the future. I'll definitely be implementing your idea with one week wait on my patrons as well, so thanks for the great idea and keep up the good work :) 👍

xRed Games

Definitely maybe.

If you build it, they won't come. Especially if they don’t even know it’s there. A potential new player hitting up the TFGS would have found Accidental Woman way down the game update list with the mostly dead projects and heading over to discuss it would find a thread with no creator around. Total inactivity on sites off a creator’s blog guarantees nobody new will head your way. It's not about just taking care of the people that are into your stuff already, it's about bringing new people in. Creators don’t necessarily need to blog endlessly on TFGS, but you do need to keep the thread somewhat current with information about their game to show it’s not another in the pile of thousands of aborted games. It’s never a good idea to blame your potential customers for not knowing about your product. Anyway, this is The Company here, not AW.

Twisted Kidney

any plans on making the PC a sex freak? like sex throughout the night kinda stuff.

To be honest if anyone thought AW was abandoned that's their own fault. Even if you never touch Patreon, you can still follow development on TX's own site - dude's one of the most prolific dev-bloggers I've seen in the porn-game "industry"

centerflag982

F95 is rather interesting in how widely the general attitude varies between threads - doesn't seem to be directly related to the quality of the game being discussed, either

centerflag982

of course there hackers and modders but their also a well established community aspeshaly when it comes to comments and bug reports (plus like i said before the game is already up their)

F95zone is an excellent source of vitamin malware!

Twisted Kidney

I dropped in on the f95zone guys. That was... Interesting.

Westane

thats why he is using the normal images as he creates the art no reason to wast time and money way you can go online and fine a placeholder clip. also i would suggest hypnosis collective do to fiting it criteria, and if he wants to be a bit more risky or brash f95zone because they already have his game up their

I really wasn't referring to you, you're always skulking around the moist, sticky corners of those TFG forums. There are some projects like Accidental Woman that people had assumed were dead. Plus, as I said, the Patreon site is absolutely terrible to navigate, putting information out on sites with proper formats is only going to be good for your project. Just typing this is a nightmare, this site is horrible, I switched to office to type this out so I can post it.

Twisted Kidney

Thanks! It's always a challenge making the supporters feel appreciated while also allowing the public to be included. I think a little goodwill is generally worth its weight in any potentially lost income. The reason I tend not to copy-paste posts into other forums is because it's usually a formatting nightmare. I have enough on my plate, haha! I'll try to do a better job getting that communication out, though.

Westane

The sex appeal is coming! Gotta start with the basics first, though.

Westane

So many of these projects that start to become monetised move completely behind a sponsor wall. All of the developer's communication ends up contained in their patron's only Patreon blog. Even when they aren't patron only they're simply not easy to find. I really like the idea of making posts public after a delay, blogs like this are advertising. Preaching only to the choir that is already giving you money is a pretty common mistake smut developers make, you need to hustle to get more people supporting you. You can't do that when the only ones that can see your posts are patrons. This is a good decision. I would also suggest, being as the Patreon site is terrible to navigate around and communicate with, that you take your developer blog posts and copy/paste them into a post on the TFG forums as soon as they become public. There are many, many games in development on TFG that people thought were dead simply because all communication was hidden away on this horrendous site, public or private.

Twisted Kidney

Also I can tell that this is still in developmental stage of drawing (which is a no given do to the game not being finished) I will be cirrus to see have you do the scenes

People are going to say that you have lost the sex appel of the game the thing is you never planed it that way to begin with did you. Because you are definitely going for a more normal and believable aproch to cherictor creation.
