5.2 - More Penny!

Greetings!

Well, last Friday marked what was both a minor release in terms of content with Dakota's new interactive scene as well as some touch-ups, as well as a fairly major stepping stone in terms of content completion in terms of home content.

I wanted to talk about that, actually, what I mean when I say home content is finished.

My intention for The Company is that its story will be finite. There will be a defined beginning and end, and if you want to see different content you'll be expected to play through the game multiple times. When I say a given piece of content is "complete", what that means is that I don't intend to expand on it until the game's central story is finished. Once that point has been reached, all that will really be left to do is add content, growing the game out rather than up. I intend to continue work on The Company well after the story is finished, and in order to continue moving forward there will come points with aspects of the content where I say "Okay, it's time to move forward."

Home content has reached that point, and it's time to focus on your office life. Also, because I know someone will ask, I consider content where anyone from the office interacts with people at home to be "office" content, and will continue to see development through this stage.

So, what's going on at the office?

5.2c is all about Penny. Those in the pre-alpha branch have already gotten to see some of what's coming in the form of now-repeatable events, addition of Love/Lust stats to coworkers, a few mechanical tweaks, and of course, a new location in Penny's apartment!

Being friendly with Penny, spending time with her on the weekends, and taking her on dates will all result in her eventually inviting you over for some one on one time. Unlike Ava and Dakota, unlocking content with Penny will rely more on her Love stat rather than Lust, and while using serums on her will be required to see a good chunk of content, you can develop a relationship with her completely serum-free. While this isn't a proper content release, there should be some good stuff coming for Penny fans. I expect to have 5.2c out sooner rather than later!

I have a few things to share this week, and I'll just kick it off with our next new character design! Penny is fantastic, but she has some competition for Best Girl, and that's only going to escalate with this person's new design. In fact, with what's coming down the pipe, she's eventually going to need her own devblog...

Of course, I'm talking about Tasha!

Tasha was always just kind of... there... and I intent for that to change in a few ways. I think her new character design is a lot more interesting and expressive, and while there's going to be a lot more to talk about than just that, it'll have to wait!

Moving on, I've been working with RD to go over our character designs again. One of the big things we talked about was Ava, and we both agreed some improvements could be made. Here's Ava 2.0.

Her proportions have been adjusted to make her look more normal, while still retaining the initial vision for her. I'm happy with the result, and I hope you all like her as well!

In addition, we've gone through to add some height variance between characters.

This should help improve dialog scenes a lot!
