5.4 - Let's Talk About Sophie!

Greetings everyone!

Well, this has been a long time coming and I'm super excited to finally be able to get started on this update! For those not in the know, the 5.4 update cycle will be focusing entirely on the boss lady, Ms. Dee. In today's devblog, I'll be going over what you all can expect from her.

The Usual Suspects

Sophie will be receiving a handful of new conversation topics, as well as a variety of random events. What this means is that you should expect to see more of her around the office in general. Don't expect to get too chummy with her, we're still in the first half of the story after all, but you can definitely look forward to seeing more of her... in every capacity.

Dosing Sophie Works Differently

While other characters in the game all follow a similar system when it comes to administering serums, Sophie will function quite differently. Your first opportunity to dose your boss will remain in place, and as the story progresses you'll have fixed opportunities to dose her (or not dose her) again. These events are all story related and, for the most part, will not be able to be missed. Additionally, you wont need to prepare for them before hand, as you'll always "conveniently" have the needed serum on you.

Each of these events will present you with 2-3 different commands you can issue her should you choose to dose her, and how you go about interactive with Ms. Dee in this way will have one of the largest impacts on the ending you receive once you've completed the main story. The choices you're presented with during these events will be determined by past serum choices, as well as some options that will appear no matter what.

Over the course of the game's first two chapters, you'll have about four opportunities to dose Ms. Dee, including the first event currently in the game. Depending on how you decide to take advantage of these opportunities, you'll almost certainly see yourself engaging in a much more intimate relationship the woman, and depending on what path you take, you'll see that relationship develop in different ways. You may end up being her pet, or her master, or perhaps even build a mutual relationship!

You'll get even more of these scenes over the course of the story, and the events being added to Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are only a preview of the system.

Maintenance Updates

You all should know by now that I can't just release a content update and be happy about. Nope, gotta find something to dick around with!

The good news is that the mechanic being addressed this time won't be particularly time consuming, as all the content for it is already there. Of course I'm talking about the dream system. Currently, it functions exactly like the notebook system in that fixed entries are added and referenced and, as a result, sometimes things can get weird. In 5.4 I'll be updating the system to function in the same way as random events and conversations, and as a result you'll not only see them update with your character, but you'll also start getting various effects from them. Dreaming of John dominating Penny may result in a hit to submission, dreaming of sexy time with Diana might increase your arousal or, hell, you may even orgasm in your sleep. It's a relatively simple change that adds a lot of freedom to this particular system.

Additionally, I'll be adding artwork to the early parts of the game. Players will have the choice of playing with the 2D artwork on and, if chosen, will get to see it in action for the first few days. This will give people a chance to preview the new art system and see it in action. Naturally, this is completely optional.

That wraps up this week. I'm happy to report that last week, Raoul and I wrapped up all the artwork for the main cast of characters and have officially moved into working on the dynamically generated naughty bits! As such, expect some art previews in the coming weeks.

I wouldn't worry about this too much. Firstly, any adjustments from dreams will be minor. 1 point on a 100 point scale. If a dream adjustment actually pushes you into a TF it means you were teetering on the edge anyway. Second, like the first point, dreams you have are typically related to how you're playing the game. If you're dreaming about John domming Penny and it makes you feel more submissive, it means you were already going down that path anyway... The gains/losses won't be so major that you'll need to worry about having the "wrong dream" and ruining your playthrough.

Greatly looking forward to seeing this new content. One thing that is a little concerning is you mentioned dreams will be random AND can effect your stats. Since dreaming is both unavoidable and random, it seems like it could harm the game in that you lose a lot of control as a player. For example in the game I can tell if an action is going to make me take a hit to submission or not; if I still do the action I should be rewarded/punished accordingly, it was a free choice. If the path is less obvious as to what it's going to take, so long as there is a choice, it's fair because I was given input on how it proceeds. If the dreams are random, however, the player loses this choice, and it becomes a manner of playing the RNG system rather than playing the game as intended. Just something for your consideration, and maybe something to think about to make sure your game is still a game, and not just a series of randomness. Some random is good, of course, but there is something to be said for predictability. As I mentioned before, this has quickly become my favorite game in the genre and I very much look forward to following it's progress, regardless on the direction you take.

Thanks! 1. The artwork will eventually be used throughout the entire game. Once it's completed it will be presented as the primary visual option, however, the current media option (real models) will always be available to use instead if you prefer. 2. I love the CMD-1 stuff, too! Due to its nature, though, it will continue to be limited to story events. That said, you DEFINITELY haven't seen the last of it :) 3. As stated, CMD-1 will continue to be limited to story events. As for MCS-X, eventually every character will have their own MCS-X event(s).

Now THIS is something I like. Good to see that the time has finally come for this! :D I do gotta ask a few things: - I LOVE the new sprite system, but will they replace the current H-content or are these only used for conversations and the original porn clips will stay in place? - The fact that Sophie will have a unique dosing method is a great idea, but also makes me wonder are there any "alternate" methods or special cases planned for it? For example I LOVE the CMD-1 stuff. It's dark and messed up if you go into it, but still Penny's and Tory's "out of control" scenes are the hottest things in the whole game for me and I just wish Sophie had an option down the line like "if ($sophie.dose == 0) then CMD-1 option" and have her as an "out of control" pet locked in her head forced to act normal at all times... Or is that too dark even after Tory got mailed to Afghanistan? - Also while we're at the subject are there any plans for more CMD-1 and MCS-X options later on or are those completely out in the while and more like "We'll see." cases?

I have to say that it seems great, in fact multiple routes is something that most characters need. The only bad thing of the serum system is that it's linear and without options but in this case it seems different. As always Westane you do a great job and I hope you continue growing :).

Ich liebe dieses Spiel. Es wäre klasse wenn es noch andere Kleider Option gäbe. Stiefel, Schmuck (intim) und Optionen wie das mit John wenn man selbst gezwungen wird das serum zu nehmen wäre klasse. Ich freu mich aber auf jedes Update.
