DissidiaDB v2 - brand new & extensive Bestiary (dubbed Enemy Compendium), updated Call Finder, Script Viewer!
Added 2021-03-15 01:00:49 +0000 UTCHello everyone,
At the very end, I have a few words to say to you, please read it if you must skip all the boring text :)

Today's update introduces a new Bestiary for DissidiaDB. It is intended to become the ultimate tool to learn about enemy abilities and mechanics, and it will keep getting improvements until it reaches that goal.
In addition to that, I also made sure to update the Call Finder & Script Viewer with the latest content. This past month, I wasn't able to update them due to breaking changes, but from now on, you may expect speedy updates of these tools!
First, about the new bestiary, renamed "Enemy Compendium" (props to whoever figures out where the name came from)
Enemy Compendium -NEW-
For this initial release, you will find 99% of the enemy information that can be learned from the game's internal database, with the exception of the AI patterns.
AI patterns being current WIP, can likely not be fully understood, but the next update will give you access to a part of that information, to better understand how certain enemies will react and act during specific situations.
A few notes about the current EC features:
- The list page has been curated to only show UNIQUE enemies (aside from special units like Shiva's split version and smaller versions of bosses)
- You can sort and filter with a number of pre-defined sorting & filtering options, but my focus on this initial update was to get the individual enemy pages completed first. In other words, you may expect further updates to the sort/filter feature to become more user-friendly and to keep its state when you refresh the page.
- The individual pages have been built in away that show the maximum amount of information that can be learned from the game's data. AI & a few more unimportant stats will eventually be displayed as well.
- Individual pages have custom URLs when you select different instances/levels, and the button in the top right part of the page allows you to view and copy the permanent URL for easier sharing.
The command list, as one of the most important features, is unfortunately not complete. It will show accurate command abilities for certain bosses when the level is selected, but because that accuracy is not perfect, I made it so it will display ALL(!) command abilities, including duplicates from other difficulties, when no level is selected.
Please use both options to find the ability that you're looking for. I will try to improve the algorithm as fast as I can, so that it can be relied upon by the community.
Another change that you might notice is that the Bestiary uses a different user interface from the Call Finder. This will become the norm for all remaining sections of DissidiaDB v2. The Call Finder will also receive a UI update in the future. Both pages have also been updated with infinite scrolling rather than pagination.
I hope you will enjoy this new section and can't wait to unveil the rest!
Call Finder -updated-
If you liked the Call Finder preview launched earlier this year, I'm happy to announce that it has been updated with latest content and gotten some improvements to how certain effects and conditions are formatted.
As for its current UI, I plan to transition it to the same design used by the bestiary, and it will be the case for all future sections!
Script Viewer -updated-
The third change in this update is that I've also updated the Script Viewer for those who like to read the story directly.
- All GL Act 2 Interlude mini-chapters & new Act 3/LC chapters were added!
- All JP Act 3/LC missing chapters were added as well.
It is also ready for the imminent release of the first Intertwined Wills chapter, featuring Garnet! You can look forward to a speedy update once the chapter is out!
What can you expect next?
With the mighty bestiary out of the way, I can FINALLY move on to the new character pages, which is what I'm personally most excited to publish.
There are a few other sections that may be released before the new characters pages, though. Namely, sections that will allow you to search for OO data without accessing character/enemy pages. It is very useful for players who like to make new team compositions.
Finally, I still have that reddit thread asking for a party builder bookmarked, so I hope to communicate about the progress that has been done towards that goal, another day.
As previously stated, please let me know if you run into any trouble when visiting any page of this brand new preview. I hope that it will prove useful and help you enjoy playing DFFOO even more!
A few words for you, dear patrons
DissidiaDB has come a long way, and despite it coming close to its ends many times over the years, it hasn't happened all thanks to your trust. It would be an understatement to say that you all had a hand in helping it stay alive and kicking. And I certainly wouldn't be working on improving it without the mental support that comes from knowing that a group of amazing people believes in me and my abilities.
Thank you.
It has been two years since I opened this Patreon, I can't believe it is still active. It makes me want to try harder every day and I will continue to do so in order to deserve your trust.
Thank you so much for believing in me!
(I'll keep it at that or it'll get too cringy :')
You're the best,
Rem
