There were always meant to be multiple endings with Abby as the cannon culprit. But there were a few endings that got scrapped along the way.

-Restrain Everyone. If you skip all diplomacy attempts found in part 2 and 3 AND restrain Mara/Maddie at the end of part 4. You find a blatant piece of evidence and confront Abby. She confesses but flees to where everyone is gathered and accuses you. You are blamed and go with her tied up.

-No Restraint. Always try the diplomatic approach even though they don't work. Don't tie Ryan or Mara. You find damning evidence against Abby. This time when she runs, they believe you. You decide to give Bellhop boi his gift and are tied by him

-Maddie/Mara but Non-Committal. You tie them but attempted diplomacy at least once in the past. You call everyone together and have the option to accuse no one. The tie-er arrives, you net him and tie his arms. Veleno unmasks him. It is cactus. No one knows who he is and essentially the answer is that "it was just some dude" He goes with Abby, you go with Mara or Clara

The third was later refined into an extension of the treasure ending while the former two were dropped. That being said, remnants of them still remain. Some of the diplomacy options stuck around and were later recycled into triggers for other endings. Tying Ryan or Mara were going to be options tied to endings at one point but were scrapped due to complexity and work load.
