A Dozen from Skylar's BTS and Outtakes

The shoot’s original intent was “no more than implied, if even that.” It was that low-stress, get-acquainted, two-hour shoot I try to start with whenever I’m shooting with someone for the first time. As you’ll see, as uncomfortable as the conditions were (41-degrees in a slight breeze), Skylar was very comfortable with her photographer, and with herself. She’s an amazing, confident, accomplished young woman with exceptional potential. If you could buy stock In “Skyler, Inc.,” I’d advise you to do so immediately.

That what is it that makes us shuffle these 88 images off to the “Outtakes and BTS (Behind-the-Scenes)” folder? Any number of things, depending upon the image. For example, you’ll see Skylar laughing at jokes or answering the photographer’s question…just as he trips the shutter. You’ll see minor wardrobe malfunctions resulting in major camel-toe, or other less-fashionable views. (Less fashionable, but more interesting to certain segments of the audience…and me.) You’ll see Skylar flailing around in her blanket for a combination of warmth (nearly impossible on the day of this shoot) and privacy (almost as difficult to maintain when the BTS lens is on you). And, you’ll see images of which Skylar was and is aware, in which she is not quite so turned away from the lens or buried beneath a hand or arm as to be Instagram-presentable. (In short, her areola peeks and her peak slips, both making an earlier appearance than we had intended, but to which we both agreed.)

So, enjoy Skylar’s goosebumps and other bumps, her dimples and clefts, and a few weird shadows and simply less-than-our-best. But you’ll enjoy seeing them all nonetheless.
