Gift of Hedone: "Epic" Enemies - 2 Forms?

Hello you wonderful deviants,

I just wanted to get your thoughts on if the "Epic Enemies" should have 2 "forms"

By forms I would means something like, the Angel Enemy, may be more a warrior wearing armor, and once damaged, sheds the armor and reveals their wings and starts throwing magic at you.

The reason I am thinking of this is because this game will be important to type match subclasses and elements, so it adds a bit of variety.

What would you think of this? you can see the list of planned enemies here

The "epic" enemies are on the bottom of each row

Yeah that’s a neat idea! Brings more depth into it

Think that can make for some hype variatons. For example the dragon being covered in glowing veins and steam coming out. Or something like that.

Karnamana

Reminds me of DS3 main bosses having a normal and "embered" form to signify their importance

Coldhockeyboy20

Maybe not worth to do for every epic enemy in case they don’t have enough “identity” per se to swap to a different class. For example, a beefed up lizard girl who starts phase 1 as a warrior wouldn’t go into phase 2 as a ranger or mage because it conflicts with her current image or identity. Now if you made that same boss but made them cowardly and afraid of their enemy (the player), then it would make more sense for them to shift into a ranged phase 2.

David

Gives more detail to the enemies and would make the player create strategic thoughts. I love it!

Zybrix

absolutely!

SR

Reading the example made me think of the boss fights from LOZTP like the dragon or the lizalfos
