Future Fragments will release in Summer 2022

Sadly, we've got to delay Future Fragments to sometime in Summer 2022; we talked over the weekend and it's just not going to be possible to release it by Spring 2022 if we want it to not have a lot of bugs, as well as have all of its content complete.

Mainly, the push is due to a combo of burnout, sickness, and Steam Sale dates; you can read more about it in the link above, and I encourage you to do so (it's only about a page of text) so you've got a better grasp on the situation at hand.

We'll continue posting updates here and on Twitter and such, and once we've got things completely finished and we're only doing bugtesting left, we'll give a more concrete release date. Again, sorry about all this; we just don't want to release something incomplete to you all, as you deserve better than that.

Finally, while it may not mean much at this point, even with all the delays and issues, the actual quality and density of content made for this game by the team is something I'm really proud of. When it comes out, I'm still confident it will have been worth the wait.

Yep, exactly.

A game comes out only once, if you screw it up, no matter the patches, people will remember. Take your time, give us the good stuff.

Mikhael Beauparlant

for me I don't really care when it's coming out, because compared to other patreon projects like this that I back, I know this one is actually going to be finished.

Kev

To me it just shows how much you guys care about the game and your supporters

Meak Lander

Take as much time as you need, I think most people here wants the release to be as best as it can be.

Nicholas Hong

Please, take your time ive always believed that the longer the game takes, the better it is in the long run we fully understand and hope all the best

Akame

I honestly don't mind the delay I've only been subscribed to you guys over a year and after seeing how much work you guys put into this I know it'll be a good game I'll be playing for a while as they say good things come to those who wait.

Jerico Robinson

Oh, it'll be sold on many, many sites, including DLSite; I'm just saying "Steam" as that'll be the first site it'll be uploaded on, with the other sites coming within the next few days afterwards.

The Future Fragments Team

So it would only be released on Steam? What about DLsite?

Jackson

Oh, of course; the main issue is core content still needing to be finished due to the above reasons, we're going to only fix the most major bugs and fix everything else post-release.

The Future Fragments Team

Boy, I really love when Patreon just deletes a huuuuuge wall of explanation for this :) Basically though, Early Access on Steam has a big issue with it; if you get your game into Early Access, there's multiple visibility periods that Steam gives you where you can push the game out to more people. Each of these visibility periods are significant in terms of getting the game lots of wishlists at release. Once the game releases though, you get no more "visibility" periods. The visibility periods need to have buffers between them, too, so you can't just blow them all out at once. Conversely, if you don't go Early Access, then you instead get a HUGE visibility period at launch, plus a few others post-launch for things like DLC or language translations. So if we switched to Early Release at this point, so near to release, we'd get maybe one small visibility period from it, and then we'd release and we'd have nothing more for visibility, so sales would dramatically suffer.

The Future Fragments Team

Trust me, it's WAY more than 5 delays, unfortunately.

Just remember though when it comes to bugs, you will NEVER find them all. No game ever made is bug-free, so there's no need (especially as an indie title) to chase the obscure ones that are difficult to replicate.

Leland Miller

Why not just put what you have out on early access? Your game already has more content than 99% of the things on that store section. We can play what you have and give you greater feedback while you work out whatever kinks remain. Everybody wins.

Koba143

The fifth one. Seems like they learned to not set a deadline because you will undoubtedly find more flaws when trying to solve them.

Koba143

How many delays is that at this point?

billy bob

All good, but if there's a limited code for the backers to get their copy I might be at a disadvantage. Don't know where I'll be when it drops. xD
