April Newsletter 2023

Hello everyone and welcome to the First Official Newsletter for DarkDemarley here on Patreon!

There is so much to talk about and I can't wait to go over it with all of you. So without rambling on for too long, let me just get into it:

March Progress

March was truly a work-aholic month. I got a lot done and worked some crazy hours to do so. It may be hard to notice on the outside looking in, but my development requires a ton of work to be done, and it's all done by me at the moment so it can take even longer.

Starting at the beginning, I worked hard on making sure the Spinner mode was at a place where users could go in and actually play the game. I next focused on creating new girls for it and even added 2 characters that you can unlock and play with in the spinner mode.

By doing this, I built a solid foundation for things like the Avatars, Dialog system and even player navigation throughout my game.

Moving thoughout the month, I heard your voices loud and clear. The game was not appropriate to releas for a public launch yet, even though I tried to do so. People were expecting a story mode, and didn't want to play the spinner mode or they just didn't like/get it.

I retooled my work, and removed the public version of the gamme. Next, I focused on story mode, and I really hit this one hard. I spent many consequtive hours working on coding the storymode to something that I would have been happy with.

After that, I added more areas, more people and more gameplay elements into the gmae. Before long, the storymode was showing itself to me, and I finally understood the potential for a great game here.

Which leaves me to the end of the month now, where I feel like I"m right on the edge of adding a TON of content for players to enjoy in the game.

Plans for April

For april, there are some major game changes I"m planning to implement. The larger of them being the RPG Battle System that I want to implement. Persona H is going into an RPG system that requires lots of balancing to play and enjoy. I'm working on it a ton and I hope this is the month I get to show it off.

Another thing I"m working on is the areas for the player to navigate to. With all the Stats that the player must increase in order to talk with the women, The player needs areas to go and increase those stats. So With the City Life update, as well as a few other areas I have in ind, I should be able to allow players to upgrade all of their stats soon.

For new girls, I know we will be seeing Marie, Mitsuru and Futaba show up within the game. I also know that Ann and Chie will make their appearance into theg ame finally. I have a few more girls in the works to add in later, but know that there should be some interesting development there too.

For other plans, I want to get the Public Release back out again and make sure it's visible. To do this, I need to complete my battle system and storyline just a little bit more. I think this will happen for early April, but we shall see.

Patron Poll  for April

Winner : City Life!

Thanks to everyone for participating in the poll. It looks like City Life won by a landslide! Which means that what most of you are wantting most of all is for me to work on the Downtown section of Yokkaichi City.

I'm going to be getting to work on this very soon, and I can't wait to show off some of the areas that will be available. I know as of right now that City Life will bring a nightclub to the game for the player to hang out at, A Shopping district which will add a Clothing store, and it will also introduce the first dating spot!

Discord News

The discord has been steadily growing throughout the month, and we all have been a having a lot of fun on there.

I recently added some new Stickers and Emojis, and we also created a random Job/Title system that means nothing but sounds fun!

Seiya has become our Mayor, so if you don't like something then you beter complain to him. Watch out for Kino though, because he is our Secret Servvice, and he doesn't mess around :D

In the future, if there is any major announcments for the discord then I will put them here to make sure you are all informed.

Contests

While we don't have this officially created yet, some of us on the discord have come up with some ideas on creating contests. This will allow all of you to participate in a sort or tournament each month and compete to become the Golden Champion for the month.

Seiya, InsideChaos and I are working on some stuff for April, and we will post some rules soon. I hope you all think about joining and seeing if you can become the month's Golden Champion!

Personal Life

I don't know if this is a section I will keep, or if many of you are even interested in this. In case you are, here is how my life was during this month!

My girlfriend and I have been living in our new place for a few months now and really enjoying it. We recently got a dog, an Australian Shepherd and it has been quite a handful for us. She got ticks the other day and that was not fun! Had to tweeze them out and they were hard to get.

I am still working off my crappy old computer, but I recently started using a wireless keyboard and mouse to work on it from the comfort of my living room. So now when my girlfriend falls asleep to netflix, I code until the wee hours of the morning until I have to go to work. It has been a game changer for me, but I need to learn to go to bed sometimes, I"m starting to feel it.

Weather is getting nicer, so I have been going for long walks with my dog now. I find it helps me clear my mind and think of more gameplay elements for Persona H. It's crazy how a large problem becomes a small problem by simply going for a walk!

Patron Questions

I didn't receive any specific questions for this month, which is understandable since it's the first month I have done it.

Instead, I will address a few random questions that came up on the discord recently.

Q: Will All the girls from the original game return?

A: Yes, I plan to bring back everyone, including Saki, Ai and Aika.

Q: Will clothing options be in the game

A: Yes, and now with the new city life update being worked on, I will be focusuing on making sure the player can purchase clothes!
