I don’t know if you knew but the reason why Kaito gives back the crystal is because it’s not the crystal he wants, he isn’t doing this for fun but trying to find the crystal he wants, and the ppl with black suit and black hat with guns on the train is looking for the same crystal as Kaito, Kaito always steal the REAL crystal and held it up at the moon to check if it’s the crystal that Kaito and the black suit gang wants. So the crystal is real it’s just not the crystal Kaito wanted
