Hiroshi doesn't pilot Jeeg, he is Jeeg. When Himika awoke in the 70's she mortally wounded Hiroshi who was a racer and so to save his son Professor Siba turned his son into a cyborg who would transform into Jeeg's head and combine with the Jeeg parts to become Kotetsu Jeeg. There are two Bronze Bells, one in Hiroshi and the other in Raikoba since they are the power to form Jeeg at least they are in this show.
