A qilin or kirin is a Chinese mythological creature that's sort of like a mix between a dragon and a horse. I believe its supposed to symbolize the birth of a wise leader. It's also associated with giraffes because a Chinese Explorer visited and African nation and thought they resembled qilin. If you've played Monster Hunter World, one of the first elder dragons fought is a kirin as well.
