Nate you are 100% right there where times where we just went off on a different tangent with the villains in this series π, Thank you for clearing that up it actually makes alot more sense now behind why Cavil was the way he was. I think we understood it but not down to the bone as to why he pushed back, but that also makes sense the way you described it. Man we really fell off the bandwagon towards the end π€£

2025-03-07 16:14:49 +0000 UTCYes, Cavil knew who the final five were, and yes he programmed all the cylons to not "think" about the final five. you guys really have a hard time understanding villain story telling lol. You struggled a bit with Gaeta and Zarek too... Cavil's motives have to have some level of legitimacy. Had the writers not, and just made him a maniacal evil robot programmed to kill, then it wouldn't be a compelling story. Therefore, having Cavil feel like Ellen creating him in a flawed body, with human "weakness" encoded in him, and then have him engage in that very human weakness of revenge was poetic irony. laughing at his motive as childish like how Ellen described it is the EXACT reason Cavil is a villain...he's been WRONGED by Ellen and the others by making him "inferior" when they could have made him more perfect (as he saw it). because of course, he is not gonna understand that the human traits are what makes it all worth it. Not understanding Adama's pushback with Cylon tech infesting the ship is a bit strange also. Think of any old movie or show where the captain of the ship treats the ship like a person. they almost give it reverence. Keeping a classic car as it is when restoring it. No modifications, because if you add new tech, it looses it's classicness. Adama has commanded the Galactica for years. Remember back to the New Caprica story, Him walking the corridors of the Ship with less than half a crew because they were all down on the planet. He lamented the bustling crew all doing their duties moving around like a beehive...the ship was alive in that way. but he couldn't stand to see her limping on in her condition of emptiness. After saving the ppl, that episode ends with him walking the halls with the ship now alive again with the ppl. He had to struggle in this episode before finally allowing Tyrol to add Cylon tech. You had to see him fight off that last bit of nostalgia before letting common sense dictate what Tyrol needed to do. If there was another way to save the Galactica and have it crewed by humans only, he would have done that in a heartbeat. It's the humanity that Adama was clinging too, embodied in the ship called Galactica.
