Genuinely, this is the best Disney soundtrack right next to The Lion King. Phil Collins knew what he was doing! I have to rock out to it every time it comes on! Tarzan was also the first Disney film to combine 2D and 3D animation for a whole film! They 3D sculpted the vines and branches and jungle (mostly for the action shots, there are still hand-drawn backgrounds in certain shots) and they 2D animated on top of that!

Hey John! I had a Tarzan doll back in the day when I was in high school. I would bring him to lunch with me and it would make my friend uncomfortable. That's about all I got to say about this movie. Awkward high school days.

Looking back on this movie now, the montage between the two families at the beginning reminds me of the infamous Up montage. Tarzan is slightly aided by the song as the lyrics kind of guide you through the storytelling but to me it was still excellent show-not-tell storytelling.
I have always found Tarzan's exploration of identity in this movie so interesting and I kind of wish there was more of him figuring that out. More stuff like the "let's learn about civilization" montage and Kala showing him the house, etc. I'm glad the focus of the movie wasn't on Kerchak accepting him but I do wish they had spent just a LITTLE more time on that, too. It would have made his ultimate acceptance more meaningful. Maybe even spend some time on his grief, although I guess the story they're really telling here is about Tarzan and his mom. The moment were he tells Kala she will always be his mother made me cry even as a small child in 1999. 🥺
Back in the day there was a Tarzan platform game on the Disney website and I played it every single day! I was obsessed haha.

Yay! Another gem from my childhood, just like The Emperor's New Groove and Lilo and Stitch. I rewatch those reactions all the time 🥰 The Emperor's New Groove is an all time favorite of mine and one of the main reasons I joined patreon so I could do the watch along lol I'm so glad your continuing this journey with Tarzan.
Damn, I forgot how much I love the soundtrack of this movie. I got so excited hearing "Two worlds" and "Strangers like me" again and then emotional hearing "You'll be in my heart" 🥹 All the feels! Instantly added on spotify.
As a kid one of my favorite parts was the scene when they go into the camp and start making music out of all the stuff. I couldn't wait for your reaction to that, so fun! It's called Trashin' the Camp on the sound track and fun fact, there is a version with Phil Collins and NSYNC 😎
Also, loved Tantor and Terk as a kid. I would quote little Tantor all the time when they say, "are you sure this water is sanitary, it looks questionable to me". Not sure why that line stuck with me as a kid but yea 😆
And Jane's dad is just so darn loveable and sweet. Love that guy haha
Agreed the relationship with Kala and Tarzan was beautiful and I'm glad they gave at least them the attention and intimacy it deserved. 🥰 Also agree the landscapes are absolutely stunning.
Oh and sidenote, I was not expecting your Tarzan scream rolling into the review portion of the video, it caught me totally off guard and I couldn't stop laughing, so thanks for that 🤣 Anyways, it was a wonderful adventure! Cheers! 🖤

Pretty entertaining film with a lot of heart. There was actually a Broadway adaptation of this film in the vein of Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. It wasn’t as popular but still really good (better than the film IMO). My high school did a production where Tarzan got laryngitis and we had to shuffle the cast. I was Professor Porter with my daughter Jane played by an actress who was older than me.

I don’t think I had ever seen this movie in full before! Kala reminded me a lot of the Mama Bear character in Puss in Boots: Last Wish actually. Great loving, warm quality about them both with their adoptive human children.
