My biggest thing here with this episode is that Korra is 18 not to blame it on her age but it just makes sense especially in regards to her emotions and her responses

i really hope you guys would watch "the dragon prince" after this show, it makes perfect sense to follow up avatar with that animated series since it's been made by some of the same people and has some similar themes but in totally new high fantasy setting. i'm sure you would love it

The first 6 episodes of this season are kinda meh, but the later half is much much better in my opinion, with that being said season 3 and 4 are still miles better.

The first two episodes were released back to back, so maybe watching them together would create a better experience. Still, I agree that the first half of this season could have been much more interesting if the creators had more time (Nickelodeon was a dick to them, unfortunately).
The second half of the season is great IMHO
About the animation
All ATLA episodes and most of Korra were done by Studio Mir, except for the first 6 or 7 episodes of this season. It is definitely a different style (and smaller budget??)

I think that’s really interesting that Korra was destined for some sort of powerful position. If her father was not banished, she would be the Northern Water Tribe Princess. I wonder if Tonraq’s banishment was for the greater good, since she became the Avatar.
