Thank you for the shoutout John. The accusation of Wilkes being a Communist and becoming invisible is actually a reference to his appearance in Tales of Suspense issue 25. He is contracted by a Communist spy to develop an invisibility ray but he also becomes intangible and cannot hit the reverse switch. As for Thompson’s motivations, I think he has an imposter syndrome since his actions in Japan. He goes against his fellow agents because he wants to look like a hero to powerful people like Vernon who treat him like he’s important. When he asks Sousa to the bar, he is looking for validation from his former partner but he gets rejected and goes with Vernon, who supports his actions.
