You make valid points and I can agree that it is not necessarily a good look by today's standards when viewing it from a particular lens. If there was intent to cast people of color in those roles, and then kill them off, then yes - I would say that is an issue. I'm just not sure that's the case. I also don't think it's fair to judge who was cast for what role when I do not understand the particulars of that process. Those roles were celebrated by fans, cast and the actors (including those in those villain roles) as well. So when those actors have something negative to say about their experience, I'll be here to listen. Until then, I'll continue to take their word for it and not make assumptions. ETA: Having both a male and female vessel for Archangel Raphael WAS progressive for 2010/2011.

Yes, but all the black people have either died immediately (like the couple in the Seven Sins episode) or been cast as immediate villains (like Uriel, Gordon, and Raphael). Not exactly progressive...

I remember at this point I was so fed up with this show for killing off beloved characters that I stopped watching for 3 and a half months. Then my friend told me spoilers about things of my liking, which motivated me to keep going. Also, I was really looking forward to a certain female character in season 10, a certain aspect of a male character in season 11, and a certain newborn character in season 13. Yes, I spoiled everything for myself.

yay you spotted Buzz from Psych

Losing Kevin is such a hard one to get through when you remember he never wanted to be involved. Can't have too big an extended cast for this show. Curtis Armstrong is a great actor, with such interesting dynamics for Metatron. I do wish the angel fighting felt a bit bigger impact, a la season 4, but the juxtaposition of choir vs bikers were fun.

Fun Fact: Round 'Em Up bar (in the beginning) is based on a bar/restaurant in Michicot, WI, owned by Jerry Wanek's (production designer, co-producer and director) siblings or cousins. Maybe both...lol. The logo is even the same. They used to have a lot of SPN memorabilia on the walls, too. I think they have changed the name now, but I haven't been there recently (I'm local to the area). http://www.roundemupbar.com/ (if you scroll to the bottom of the page you'll see the logo) ETA: Y'all forgot to mention that a black man AND a black woman played the archangel Raphael in S6.
