I agree that Jensen is fun as Demon Dean and he’s awesome at it, and that Dean feels more like a straight up asshole than a demon. However, I don’t really agree that Jared is less believable as bad. I think he was awesome as Meg!Sam, Lucifer, and Soulless. Especially with soulless, his physicality and mannerisms were fantastic. It’s been a while since he’s played anyone "bad."

2022-05-28 22:11:12 +0000 UTCYeah I love Jared too and the "soulless Sam" era was good, I guess, but Jensen Akles is just a walking-talking mountain of charisma so him playing a "cool (psycho) bad guy" just comes natural.

Dean has always been driven by the loss of Mary his mom and dean knows personally that losing to someone you want to take revenge on is the worst thing in the world. He lost to metatron not to long ago. Demons are twisted versions of a person's soul. That does not make them evil necessarily. Just their worst traits like being a dick are amplified. Dean saved that blonde in ep 1 and that seemed like a dean thing to do but it was twisted because he was willing to really hurt him badly. Being soulless makes a person more likely to be evil because they don't care about anything.
