The scene of Doctor and Clara at the cafe is one of my favourites of the show. They are both lying to each other because they think that's whats best for the other one. She thinks he wants to go to Gallifrey and doesn't want to bother him with her emotions about Danny and he thinks Clara and Danny are happy together and doesn't want to get in the way of that so he lies about finding Gallifrey. Their relationship is so compelling, complex and kinda toxic. I love it.

You're right about the strengths of this episode being in its more character-centric moments. I've absolutely no memory of the whole cybermen cloud thing, but I remember all the emotional moments with Danny and everything with Missy and the Doctor. To this day I still think about that "woman in the shop" plot point: "You'd go to hell if she asked...and she *would* ask." Missy picking Clara as part of a nefarious plot to mess with the Doctor is a thing fans kinda despised as flimsy or unnecessary, and i loved that shit. A companion picked by a villain as an indirect form of psychological manipulation? yes please and thank you.

I love how the writers of doctor who kinda just forget that the doctor could open the tardis by snapping his fingers. Like with Clara threatening him with the keys, and this one where he needed the key to open the door.

I'm super glad that you guys loved this. This episode I feel gets a bit too much hate. It's wonderfully done.

great reaction as always guys, Missy is a great character and Michelle Gomez is a great actress. The cyberman story was something unique but I suppose reinventing enemies as old as the show must be quite hard. Peter Capaldi acted incredibly although i may be Biased. And you know what, Danny's alright
