2023-08-29 04:04:13 +0000 UTCI love this movie so much. It is such an incredible story, and they created such a vibrant world. So glad I chose to do the watchalong with you, rather than highlights. Your reaction, especially at the end... it was so much fun! I always start crying as soon as Brooks' story breaks off. I was sobbing by the time it ends. I do believe Brooks' story showed us he had time to say goodbye, even if they didn't show it. I kind of feel bad for everyone else still, even though I know they are all criminals. It focuses on their humanity, even while showing the fact that yes they did do something to get them there through Red. It doesn't mean they don't deserve hope. The irony that they are reminded of that through an innocent man, wrongly imprisoned... Tommy is just tragic. Anyway, I love this movie. Thank you for giving me a reason to watch it again.

2022-07-16 22:01:28 +0000 UTCThis has been my go-to movie for years. I've enjoyed the story itself since I first read it in Stephen King's Different Seasons. It was part of a collection of novellas. I believe there have been a couple stories from that collection that were made into movies.

2022-07-16 00:22:23 +0000 UTCYou can definitely visit the place this was filmed! It’s in Mansfield Ohio. It’s called the Ohio state reformatory and they do tours and overnight ghost hunts. Tons of things have filmed there and it used to be a real prison so it’s haunted lol i’ve been and it’s pretty cool

Finding more appreciation in the rental market. Many films will provide you with tears of sadness. Fewer give you happy tears I think. This will always remain in my top 10 films and it's hard to conceive of a film pushing it out of my top 5. Great reaction. After Gump and Shawshank, I'm wondering what other belters you've not seen yet.

2022-07-15 20:55:07 +0000 UTCOne thing I noticed on my most recent rewatch is that this film has Lex Luthor vs. Lex Luthor fight. Captain Hadley (Clancy Brown) fights Boggs (Mark Rolston) in his cell. Brown voiced Lex in the DCAU and beyond. Rolston voices Lex in Young Justice and Batman: Arkham.
