I love this episode for sure! Suyin is the name of Lins sister, Opal is the name of the girl that Bolin is interested in and Zaheer is the name of the villain. Feel free to use this for reference 😅
Toph being more humanized as a parent that makes mistakes was a really good choice, like how they did with Aang in season 2. These beloved characters are still people, and people make errors in judgment a lot, especially as parents I bet it's exceptionally difficult.
I'm kind of sad that the voice acting of the villains doesn't do it for you. I recall you mentioned Zaheer sounds like a college dude but I can't see that at all. Maybe it's because I know who Henry Rollins is, and he's anything but a chill college bro 🤣 Maybe look him up and watch an interview but I hope it grows on you cause I think it captures a perfect later middle aged man quite well. Zaheer isn't in old territory yet, but he's not young either. Henry Rollins voice captures that beautifully for me.
I get why Zaheer may seem one note, but I prefer "mysterious". Amon in season 1 did that incredibly well because he laid out his intentions from episode 3. I just think the context here works better. A group of literal super benders coming for the avatar. Unknown by any where they are. Unknown why they are hunting her. Kind of like the mystery of Thanos by the Avengers for the first half of Infinity War until they meet. You know they are threats, but you dont know why or really much about them. I think that works very well. Hopefully when you learn more about them, Zaheers appearance will impress you guys more. He's a fan favorite villain. But maybe it's just this late into the season, you like your motives spelled out sooner. The mystique factor may not work for everyone I get that.
I'd be interested to see why the voice acting isn't working for you Greg, like what about it rubs you off? (Joke absolutely intended 😏)
Either way, the season is entering a new phase and kicking stuff into gear! Super excited for more episodes guys! See you then! ❤
