2022-08-09 20:56:56 +0000 UTCThanks for the reaction! I feel like most fans aren't too keen on these Maisie Williams episodes, but I'm pretty fond of them. I agree that it's a shame they couldn't fully commit to the darkness of Ashildr's story. The tone is all over the place, yeah. John's "just let them talk" comment sums up how I feel about it. We didn't need all the hijinks and space lions (oh my). In a fucked up sort of way I do find it compelling that Clara and the Doctor and their "how do we win" mentality condemned Ashildr to an existence humans aren't equipped for. I kinda see the whole ep as the Doctor trying to convince himself that it's okay to cheat death, bc if he accepts that humans have an expiration date he has to accept outliving everyone he cares about.
