I love the moment with Kirishima and Mina because it is such a reverse of the moment from middle school where Kirishima is frozen in fear and can't do anything, while Mina jumps in. This is the moment where Kirishima gets to pay that back to her and step up. It's also great because they've hinted a few times that the two might have a crush on each other and to see them respond like this to each other is really sweet. As frustrating as that moment is too, it's such a clear visualization that these kids are still first year students, like it said in the previous episode, they are dealing with a situation even the pros are struggling with, and most of the class hasn't really seen much action yet (expect some of our main characters), but more than anything they're going to try their best.
I completely agree with your assessment of Shigaraki. He's become such a good character (one of my absolute favourites) and we've seen him struggle to find his place in the narrative, to the point of being frustrating that he's not doing more in earlier seasons, that these episodes feel earned with him as the villain. And now everyone's invested in what happens to him and his goals.
The speech he gives in this episode about hero society is so important! And it kind of gets glossed over by Endevour right after Shiggy's done talking in this episode. But him talking about how no one helped him, how heroes have really turned into a franchise with schools being dedicated to them, brand deals, publicity, etc. and the reason that there are villains is because heroes can't understand where the villians are coming from is really a key point in MHA. While the villains are going about it the wrong way, a lot of the issues they're talking about we have seen multiple times throughout the story.
I really like your comment on Shigaraki's mental state and how it mimics his quirk. You can see a similar thing with his hair changing colours, like how it was black before he got his quirk, turns blue when his quirk develops, and then goes white when it fully awakens like the colour is decaying the more he unlocks it.
Aizawa is so heartbreaking because he really is the glue that holds the class together. And having Deku a few episodes previously saying that the worst thing that could happen is losing their teacher and to now face this is so sad. Especially now that Deku's seen the rest of the heroes not be able to stop Shigaraki, knowing that Shigaraki's after him (so he'll probably blame himself for people getting hurt), Gran Torino, and now Aizawa. He has to be having such a hard time!
