Mitten's Part 2 (Continuation of Jaspers Reward story)

Turning sharply on the spot, my long hair flicks wild around my face and eyes.

“Mitten!?” I groan, swiping at the hair in my eyes. “I’m glad you find this so funny.”

Kerry doesn’t immediately answer me. Instead, she leans in towards me and looks at the price tag of the dress I’m wearing.

“You’re going to have to owe me for this,” she finally replies. “The dress alone is most of my pocket money.”

“No way,” I complain, trying to grab at my tail.

My tail almost has a mind of its own! I wanted to grab it and hide up under my dress.

“Mittens…..?” Kerry giggles, watching me spin around on the spot. “What are you doing?”

Stopping still, Kerry’s looking at me with a wide smile. She tilts her head to one side.

“Want some help?” she laughs, pointing at the tail that still eludes me.

Reaching in, I throw myself back against the wall. I throw my hands up to stop her from coming any closer.

“No, thank you!” I say in a panic. “You’re too rough!”

Kerry takes a step back and holds her hands up in surrender.

“Fine,” she huffs. “Shall we go pay then? I’m sure they won’t mind you wearing that stuff home.”

“Wait….What!?” I almost scream out but manage to control myself. “I’m not wearing a dress out in public! Also, moew can’t go home….we have to find that cat!”

Placing her hands on her hips, Kerry raises an eyebrow at me.

“Firstly, you are wearing that dress,” she commands. “You’re old clothes don’t fit you anymore. I’d hate for you to be walking down the street and your pants to drop down around your ankles.”

I turn my head away and grit my teeth as she continues talking.

“Second, what do you think we are going to do if we find that cat?” she questions. “Do you think it’s going to talk and you’ll be able to persuade it to change you back or something?”

I stamp my foot in frustration.

“I don’t know Kerry,” I whine, trying back to look at her. “I just can’t stay like this….can I?”

Giving me a smile, Kerry takes my hand and turns me back to look in the full-length mirror.

“Why can’t you stay like this…?” she questions, showing me my feminine figure. “Just because you’re a girl now and you’ve got cat ears and a tail….”

I stand nervously looking at my reflection. I wanted to cover my body up completely. I felt so weird…. being a girl.

“What’s mom going to say when she sees meow?” I question, blushing at the feline noise I just made.

Clutching my hand tight, Kerry pulls me from the changing both and marches me towards the counter to pay.

“Only one way to find out!” she says, as she stands me in front of the members of staff behind the counter.

“Hello girls,” the staff member says, greeting up both with a smile.

“Hi,” Kerry replies and points at me. “Do you mind if my sister wears this outfit home?”

Giving me a grin, the lady behind the counter nods her head.

“Sure,” she answers, holding up a scanner towards me. “So the dress, top, and trainers? Let me just scan the tags and your all set.”

Three beeps later, I look up and she’s still grinning at me. I can see her looking at my ears.

“Yes,” I groan, glaring back. “I’ve got cat ears!”

knowing she’s been caught staring, the lady behind the counter fumbles and instantly looks down at her till screen.

“Oh….Errr…..,” she mumbles. “That’s forty-five dollars.”

Kerry hands over the cash and asks for a bag to hold my old clothes.

As we leave the store, I feel even more self-conscious. I’ve noa got my skinny girly legs out for the word to see!

“Mittens?” Kerry says as we step out of the store. “You wanna get a milkshake or something?”

“Don’t call meow…. that!” I gripe, lowering my voice as people walk past and stare.

Kerry leans in toward me. “Ok ok….,” she says, giving in. “How about I call you Mitzy?”

“Mitzy?” I say, trying to push my now bigger sister away and failing. “Anythings better than Mittens!”

Giving me a smile as she gently pushes me back, Kerry then points at the café on the lower level of the mall.

Frantically shaking my head, my hair once again fails around all over the place.

“I wanna get out of here,” I tell her, brushing my hair away. “Either that, or we go find that cat!”

Taking hold of my hand again, Kerry marches us toward the exit. My little legs have to move so much quicker to keep up with her.

It doesn’t take us long to get home. I’m thankful for that.

Coming in through the back door, my stomach started to knot up as the idea of explaining my transformation. I had no idea how mom would take it!

“Mom!” Kerry calls out, as we both enter the kitchen. “We’re home! We’re not late for dad's thing either!”

I stand nervously, waiting for mom to appear and see me.

Going bright red as mom swiftly enters the kitchen, she gives us both a smile and a little wave.

“Hello sweetie,” she chimes, giving Kerry a little tap on the head. “I thought Liam was with you?”

Silence from Kerry as she just stares in my direction.

At this moment, I would have welcomed the ground opening up and swallowing me whole. I fold my arms tight and try and hide my budding girly chest.

“Who’s this?” mom says, leaning against the kitchen counter and pointing in my direction. “Cute outfit! Are you meant to be a kittie cat?”

“Mom…..,” Kerry says, moving over to stand next to me. “This is…..err……,”

Pausing, Kerry rubs her arm nervously. She’s clearly just as worried as I am. I guess she must be wondering if she’s about to get in trouble! I mean, it was her idea to go to the woods today.

“I’m sure she has a name,” mom giggles, giving me a smile.

“This is Liam!” Kerry quickly blurts out.

Mom gives Kerry a confused look then turns to me and softly smiles at me.

“Just like my son,” she says, then begins to frown. “Strange name for such a pretty young girl though.”

“M-mom,” I reply with a nervously crack in my voice. “It’s me…..It’s me Liam….. your son.”

A few seconds pass as we all share uncomfortable looks with each other. Then, moving in closer to her, I look up at her with worry.

“I strange color cat cut me,” I say, rolling up my sleeve and showing her the cut. “Now I’m a girl!”

Not saying anything, mom gently strokes one of my cat ears. It felt kinda nice.

“Are those……?” mom questions, looking down at me shocked. “You’ve got a……tail!”

Mom then gently tugs at one of my ears, trying to pull it off.

I yelp out and step back from her.

“Ouch!” I yell, rubbing the ear she just pulled. “That really hurt!”

Throwing her hands up to her mouth in shock, mom’s eyes grow wide and full of confusion.

“Liam….?” She questions. Lightly shaking her head.

“Yeah…..,” I answer, trying to hide my feminine body. “It’s meow.”

“Oh my god!” she continues, giving Kerry a concerned look. “A cat did this to you..?”

Moving to stand next to mom, Kerry looks me up and down and smiles.

“I think he’s now younger than me,” she smirks. “Maybe a year or two younger?”

“Yeah……,” mom agrees, looking at Kerry in sheer disbelief. “I can see that.”

I was expecting it to be a shock, but the way my mom was looking at me made me feel like the elephant man. I wanted to run upstairs to my room and hide under my bed!

“Li….am?” mom says, gently placing a hand on my shoulder. “Where is the cat that did this to you?”

“I dunno,” I answer with a shake of my head. “I wanted to go find it, but Kerry made meow go shopping for this dress!”

Touching the hem of my dress, mom looks over at Kerry and smiles.

“It’s a cute dress on him,” she comments. “Did you buy this for him?”

Kerry claps her hands in delight. “Sure did!”

“Oh,” mom says, giving me a wide smile. “Least you’re both being nice to each other for once!”

“Not helpful!” I whine, wanting to hiss at them both. “What are we going to do about meow!?”

Looking at the clock on the wall, Mom gently taps her chin.

“Not much we can do right now,” she says concerned. “We all need to be dressed and ready to go to this meal for your dad's work.”

Kerry jumps up on the spot and screams out with excitement!

“Mitzy can wear one of my old dresses!” she cries out. “I’ve always wanted a sister to play dress-up with!”

Mom looks down at me and gives me a reassuring smile.

“Don’t worry…..Mitzy,” she says with a hint of laughter. “Tomorrow, we will go and look for that cat!”
