Fun fact the guy who tells the new guy to clean up the table is the actual Marcus Luttrell. Also a few things the movie got wrong in comparison to the book. After the rest of Marcus was killed he didn’t limp to the water source he actually crawled 7 miles. Also that last battle scene never happened the Rangers that went in actually walked into the village and had tea with Marcus and the villagers. There’s actually a list of other things things that the movie and book didn’t line up on. If you get the chance the book is a good read.

No, I would say some of us know she would understand and appreciate such a film. And thats part of the joy of a community like this, watching and enjoying films some of us or her might not ever bat an eye at otherwise.

Like the fact that you are watching a few Military movies base on true events - One I would suggest would be "We Were Soldiers" based on a book that is based on true events Staring Mel Gibson & Sam Elliott & few other stars - Gibson leads a newly created air cavalry unit into the Ia Drang (1965) and you also see what the wives go thru too. Real good book and movie is outstanding too

My father was a LRRP in Vietnam, Airborne Ranger. When he died in 2004 I held a Top Secret clearance and I requested his DD214 so I could create an accurate shadow box of his awards and medals. Dad had a second Silver Star Award and two additional Bronze Stars (w/ "V" device) that I never knew about. They showed up on his papers, but the certificate explaining how he got them was still classified "Eyes Only" 35 years after he was discharged.

@Popcorn in Bed I saw that you recognized Taylor Kitsch as Tim Rigging from Friday Night Lights. Another movie with him in it that I think you and Carly should check out is called "Only the Brave". It also has Josh Brolin in it and it tells the story of the Granite Mountain Hotshot Wildland firefighters. I think you both would like it.

Special forces are rarely able to tell their stories due to the secretness of their missions. So many battles are classified, and stories silenced. I am so glad this one was able to be told. So much sacrifice....

That final stand scene was on par with the Omaha Beach scene in Saving Private Ryan. Incredibly emotional and hard to watch.

April 25th is ANZAC day in Australia and New Zealand. Without doubt the most important, solemn national day in both countries. It's the anniversary of the ANZAC Corps landings on the Gallipoli peninsular in Turkey in 1915. Australia lost 60 000 killed and 156,000 wounded in WW1. 46,000 of them are buried in the fields of France and Belgium. Australia's population in 1915 was barely 5 million.
