Spear Devil - 033

[April – 2008]
Asia knew that she could be a bit naive sometimes, having lived a sheltered life in the Church until now did explain why this was so. Still, the last few weeks had been very hard for her and had made her much more aware of how harsh reality could be sometimes.
Having been expelled by the Church after healing that Devil had still been a very painful experience as she had considered that place her home and the priest and nuns her family.
Asia had been lost and hadn't known where to go when that Fallen Angel Raynare had appeared and offered her to come with them, so that she could continue to use her gifts in the name of her Lord, healing people and banishing suffering as best as she could.
The Fallen had also explained to her a bit more about why she had been expelled, having made her much more aware of what her actions in helping the Devil had signified, considering that the Three Factions were still in a cold war.
Asia knew herself though, and if given the chance she would have saved that poor Devil anyway, as she firmly believed that her Lord loved all living things equally, even Devils. Life was precious and she wouldn't have been given the power to preserve it by God if that wasn't what she was supposed to do.
The priests and sisters that had treated her so harshly after they had realized what she had done would surely understand that given enough time, at least that was what she wanted to believe in.
Having used the small amount of money that the Fallen had given her, Asia had managed to finally arrive in Kuoh Town after a several days-long journey that had exhausted her greatly.
It was when she had taken a short break in a beautiful small park that her ears had picked up an enchantingly beautiful melody, the sad, almost longing tunes having moved her heart deeply.
Having approached the source of the music, she had come across a young man that had seemed a bit scary at first with his left forearm completely tattoed while the back of his right hand was the same, though a small part of her - a part which she had immediately scolded - had also found him very handsome.
The somewhat lost and pained expression on his face though had quickly banished any such thoughts and jolted her into action, as she had just found herself unable to ignore the stranger's obvious plight.
What she had not expected though was that this stranger knew about the Supernatural World while the news about the Fallen Angels had left her feeling a deep sense of hopelessness, as Asia realized that she had nowhere to go, no place she belonged to now.
Raynare had not given her any information about how to contact her, or the Grigori, and the money she had left would not even be enough to find a hotel for the night.
Even Asia had not been able to stop herself from feeling lost and abandoned, her heart had clenched in painful despair as a deep sense of loneliness had welled up inside her.
It had been at this moment that the stranger beside her had extended his hand in goodwill, banishing the veil of despair that had settled around her heart with his kindness.
Looking up at Akira, her gaze settling on his soft blue eyes as silent tears rolled down her cheeks, Asia couldn't help but ask: "W-Why are you helping m-me? W-won't that get you in trouble?"
Having been subjected to the consequences of helping a Devil as a member of the Church, the small nun understood that the half-dragon before her might not escape unscathed if he helped her while in Devil territory.
The absolute last thing that she wanted was to cause harm to the one that offered her help when she so clearly needed it. Asia would much rather suffer by herself than be responsible for another person's suffering.
"Maybe because we both need a friend."
Akira's reply though struck her heart deeply, as he smiled lightly while a kind and somewhat sad look appeared in his crystal eyes.
Hearing these words a deep-seated longing awakened in Asia's heart as she couldn't help but recall the countless times she had prayed to her Lord, wishing for nothing more than a friend of her own.
"Besides, I am a Dragon after all. How can I be afraid of a bit of trouble?", Akira added with confidence, a wholly 'draconic' look in his eyes, while his warm hand fell softly atop her head, warmth and comfort seeping into Asia's trembling form through it.
Her tears fell like raindrops while she tried and wipe them away, Asia simply knew that Akira must be the reason why God had sent so many tribulations her way. The young half-dragon was the friend she had been waiting for all her life, and he did appear just when she felt the most alone and threatened to fall into despair.
Following behind him quickly as he led the way, Asia swore to herself that she would not be a burden to him and that she would absolutely repay his kindness, no matter what.
…
“I-Is this where t-the Red Dragon Emperor lives?”, Asia inquired softly after she stepped into the house, her green eyes shining with a curious and slightly confused light.
"No, you misunderstood, Asia.", I replied, unable to keep the smile from my face at the adorable look she carried on her face, "The Heavenly Dragon doesn't live here, in fact, I have never even met him."
"My draconic heritage awakened just a few weeks ago, though before that I was just a normal human.", I explained, "My parents are both working overseas and rarely have the time to visit though, so it is just me who lives here."
“Is that so?”, the small nun whispered while nodding in understanding, a sympathetic look in her eyes.
“Come, I will show you where you will sleep.”, I simply said, as I carried her suitcase up the stairs and towards the small guestroom while Asia followed behind cautiously as if afraid of acting disrespectfully in someone else's home.
Opening the door to the small room, I placed the suitcase on the bed and opened the closed curtains to let some sunlight into the room.
"It's a bit small, but you can stay here as long as you need. Well, or at least until you figure out what you want to do.", I told her while she shyly looked around the room.
"I-It's more than enough! T-thank you for letting me stay here! I promise I won't be a burden to you, Akira!", Asia replied while bowing at her waist.
Softly grabbing her by her shoulders, I helped her up as I shook my head with a smile, “I am sure you won't, Asia. Take your time to unpack and maybe change into something more comfortable. I am going to cook something for dinner, so don't be in a hurry.”
Giving her one last head pat, I quickly left her to settle in, and to escape the tears that I saw welling up in her eyes at my words. Still, my draconic hearing easily picked up her whispered thanks and the sniffling from the room, even as I was already halfway down the stairs.
Sighing to myself, I knew that Asia's presence would make things a lot more complicated but the thought of abandoning her just felt utterly wrong.

Thank you for the compliment! Yeah, I love this story too and there are many things that I have still planned for it. I am not sure about the romance in this one yet but Koneko is definitely an option, as is Asia.
2023-01-07 23:49:36 +0000 UTCI love this so much, my favorite novel/ff of all time is now silverfire and I mean I love long story's but yours was just perfect. I am also enjoying Wanderer but I have caught up to latest update. And now I'm on this and I really love it. Suggestion for the Harem is 5 girls absolute max, but I think only konoco, Asia and sona should be in the Harem and maybe Michael's sister who I can't seem to remember ( she is a top angel) and I hope the you would write more chapters for this dxd fiction cause I'm loving it and it's uniqueness. Also you are the first person that I ever patreoned, cause I'm now officially of legal age and yeah, I have no regrets.
