Yes, Disturbia is an homage to Rear Window. Numerous directors have done homages or reimaginings of their favorite Alfred Hitchcock films. If you liked Disturbia, then check out director DJ Caruso's other Hitchcock reimagining "Eagle Eye" (also starring Shia LaBeuf), which puts a technologically modern spin on Hitchcock's 1956 film "The Man Who Knew Too Much" (also starring Jimmy Stewart), which you should watch first. Jimmy Stewart had an amazing career (I know you've already seen "It's A Wonderful Life" and "Anatomy Of A Murder"). Some particular highlights include: * Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo" and "Rope" * "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington" * "Harvey" (1950) * "Spirit Of St. Louis" (where he plays Charles Lindbergh) * "After the Thin Man" (sequel to "The Thin Man", also worth a watch) Stella the nurse (played by Thelma Ritter), has a brief appearance in the original version of "Miracle on 34th Street" from 1947 (you may have seen the 1994 remake of this) Grace Kelly appeared in two more of Hitchcock's films: * "To Catch A Thief" * "Dial M For Murder" Finally, I know from watching your "Firefly"/"Serenity" playlist that you've seen at least a few episodes of "Castle" (one of my favorite shows). Their 100th episode was an homage to "Rear Window": Season 5 Episode 19 "The Lives Of Others"

I think if Cassie ran Treasure of Sierra Madre (one of my favs.) everyone would get a charge out of it. Watching the studio-era films is a course in itself. So much Americana was born there. Like I said I'm not quick enough with the technology to get traction for any good ones.

Here are some trivia facts about the movie and the actors: Hitchcock was famous for making cameos. The cameo in this is very quick and Ive never seen it until your presentation. Grace K married the Prince of Monaco, retired from acting and was forever more known as Princess Grace. James Stewart was one of the most famous actors in Hollywood, paused his movie career during WW2 to pilot a bomber in Europe. His rank was a colonel. Thelma Ritter, Stella, was famous for this kind of role. She massaged "Jeff" to prevent bed sores because he was chair bound. Thorwald was played by Raymond Burr who was famous for playing TV's Perry Mason and Ironsides. This movie was made towards the end of the studio system and actors under contract were used in the same kind of roles over and over. There were laws against having an unmarried lover spend the night. House detectives among other things, were on the watch for people violating morality laws. Start keeping track of classic pre-60s actors, movies, studios and you'll see how the studios used their stars, like Bogart in Casa Blanca and Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Jimmy Stewart was in It's a Wonderful Life and the Philadelphia Story and Flight of the Phoenix.

My recommendation for another Jimmy Stewart movie is 'The Shop Around the Corner' which 'You've Got Mail' was a remake of. As usual, the original is better and IMDB ratings agree with me.

I was sleuthing and the actress is credited twice - could it have been Thorwald's sister who is mistaken for the wife leaving in the morning but the actress played both characters?
