FIRST TIME WATCHING: Ted Lasso S2E9!!

Comments

Hi Nat, this is where I originally stopped watching the show the tonal change and Nates dark turn sucked my joy from the show, but I knew my sister would like season 1 at least so rewatched it with her then thought of rewatching the rest with you,so here I am for a second try because when the show is right its so right and if I only get nuggets instead of 30 min,I'll take it :)

Athenor

This has been one of my favorite episodes. It’s modeled after a Martin Scorsese film and brilliantly done so but it has so many other references to those sort of cult films from directors like David Fincher and the Coen Brothers.

MightyHobo

The show can be "depressing" at times because it's not simply a comedy, it's a heart-warming comedy. And you can't enjoy the sunny days without a little bit of rain.

Eric

I'm with you. The episode may've been slower/not as fun as many of the others but I really enjoyed watching Coach Beard throughout his day. I definitely don't want many episodes like this though. Maybe one or two a season. I really loved the references made for Fight Club! xD So darn cool! hahaha

Logan Kerlee

"Shut up Thierry Henry!" I love this episode. I think some people didn't like it because it put a pause in the storyline of the season, which makes sense. But I hope we get a bit more into Coach Beard's life in season 3. Oh, I died when he said: “Tomorrow will be the most beautiful day of Sarah Coombes’s life.” XD

Eddie

Love that one strange night adventures of Coach Beard episode. Was such an odd adventure and break from the norm. Thanks again Nat!

DaSmerg

For reasons, my watch-along with Nat was the 3rd time I've seen this episode, and surprisingly, I like it more now than I did the first time. It definitely grew on me.

Sam Kimpton

I don't know if Beard should make eye contact for romantic purposes, because he always looks at people like he's actively trying to make their brain explode with the power of his mind.

Cory Stanish

I never noticed the Burning Man poster, but it does not surprise me at all that Beard might be a Burner!

Cory Stanish

good reccomendation! I didnt realise it was a Martin Scorsese film! literally gonna watch that straight after this, since i loved this episode so much.

Matt Camburn

The full moons popping up is a reference to the song “Blue Moon”, which has been the Manchester City anthem for the better part of thirty years. My take was, like many of the episode’s recurrences, Beard is constantly being haunted all night by the loss against Man City. The song also played during the montage of Richmond losing spectacularly in the previous episode.

Sam Wright

Thanks to the people that mentioned this was done after the fact, that totally makes sense; it is just so out of place. I will say it was more interesting the second time viewing it. There were at least two fight club references and multiple matrix references, so I assume we are supposed to question whether or not anything in the episode is real. Anyone know if the dropping of the keys is referencing anything or the giant full moons that popped up all over the place?

RH

This is partly inspired by the movie, After Hours, which if you've never seen I can really recommend. It's funnier than this but also quite dark. It's about a man trying to get home after a disastrous night out.

Paul Mason

This episode wasn't my favorite, but it definitely caught way too much flack. It, like the Christmas episode, suffer from feeling out of place in the overall story (those were the two extra episodes that Apple ordered after they had already written a 10 episode arc and had to figure out a way to shoehorn in two more without disrupting their story).

Jeff K

This was the second of two extra episodes that Apple TV ordered outside the original season, the first being the Christmas episode. People have said the whole season feels a bit weird and episodes like this are definitely a reason as to why. Having said that, I still enjoyed this episode, but Ep 10 - 12 really kicks it into overdrive

Happy Monday, Natalie! Hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 I'm downloading this right now to watch tonight. Looking forward to watching this episode reaction this evening. Have a great day today! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Randee Carreno

Hey Nattie. Hope you had a fine weekend. We got snow here, so it was a chilly one. Not the usual sort of entertainment we expect from Ted in this episode. A somewhat surreal episode, but it had it's moments, especially you berating that poor old lady on the bus 😄 and you can't beat a bit of Queen. Thanks for a fun reaction today. Toodaloo to you too Nat 💛

Darryl Low

Happy Monday Nat hope your weekend was fantastic and the weather was a heck of a lot better than over here 🙂 really look forward to these episodes on a Monday and Tuesday its going to be sad when it ends and we are ever closer to that 😢 best I make the most of it before the channel becomes the cartoon network for a while and we forget what a human actor looks like 😀 and on that note lets begin 💛
