Time to dive into a new Marvel show!! Next week I'll be posting two episodes of What If per week, but figured I'd post the just first one this week since we wrapped Squid Game yesterday! Feel like we can all use some light hearted good fun after that drama haha.

When they opened it a big squid monster from somewhere in space came through, much like how Loki used it to travel to earth in the beginning of the Avengers. Speaking of which, the place where Agent Carter arrives there is the place at the beginning of the Avengers where they're doing tests on the Tesseract and open the portal again. Thanks for the reaction Nat, first one I've seen in a while, but good to see your still going hard at it :)

Cap was the one who was chosen because he was weak, making Peggy a super soldier just tells us that anyone can basically become Cap. But Captain America isn't the muscles or the hightened abilites, it's the heart of Steve Rogers. Only Steve can ever be Cap. This is a perfect example of what Marvel is doing with their new stuff, especially with What If. They just shit on all the important plotlines and character development that have been built until this point. And Loki ain't a cunning evil forced to be reckoned with anymore, he's just an overly emotional, gullible buffoon. Barf. My favorite character got it the worst. Anyways, sorry for the rant. Just saying, Arcane is so much better than anything Marvel's been doing recently...

Don't be so self conscious. If you think something's funny, chances are others will will think so to (especially those who subscribe to your youtube channel and/or patreon who are likely on your wavelength).

This show goes places that a lot of people weren't expecting. Some are even theorizing if one of these What If... episodes might be affecting the current MCU somehow.

And though it's never named, I believe the creature at the end of the episode with all the tentacles is supposed to be Shuma-Gorath, a Dr. Strange villain. I loved this series, though there are a couple of duds, but one of the most "holy shit" episodes in any show I can remember. Also, keep in mind it started shortly before Loki ended, and there are a few visual nods to Loki as this series keeps going.

2021-12-03 00:19:47 +0000 UTCI'll take your "cringe-tastic" intro's any day! Love the humor and emotion you infuse into whatever you are reacting to. I think the series is (as someone already mentioned) getting the audience ready for facets of the "Multiverse." Most of the properties (in this phase) seem to be exploring that "worlds crossing into other worlds" or realities crossing into other realities. Excited for movies like the upcoming Spider-Man film (with Doctor Strange) as well as Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

2021-12-02 23:49:45 +0000 UTCi really hope one day you would react to the agent carter series! honestly it was ahead of it's time because it aired before disney+ existed so got cancelled after the second season but it was a really great show where you see more of peggy and howard's relationship plus another character who you will find very familiar! also i find that the middle of what if can be quite slow but i liked the finale a lot so i can't wait until you get to the last few episodes :)

2021-12-02 22:02:39 +0000 UTCReally enjoyed revisiting this... one of my two favourite episodes. Captain Carter, to me, is better than Captain America. And not just because she can speak with an English accent. She couldn't be Captain Britain btw because there's another character called Captain Britain who's more different to Captain America than you'd think. Also, since Peggy didn't spend months selling bonds, she got to the tesseract before it got to Red Skull. I guess for whatever reason them knowing more about the tesseract before she got to it also meant Stark was able to build the suit - which he just put the tesseract in. Since Red Skull lost the tesseract, I guess the door itself became more a part of his plan? or he'd thought to take it with him? Not sure there... but yeah, big snowball of changes right away. Next episode's a lot of fun.

In fact in dialogue you only read in Avengers Endgame subtitles Peggy mentions a agent Braddock which is the surname of Brian and Betsy who have both been Captain Britain in the comics.
