FIRST TIME WATCHING: Avatar the Last Airbender S1E1&2!!

I know you've already watched the whole series but I think the reason a lot of people can't fight Aang is that no on has fought an Airbender in 100 years. No one can train against him, he is using a bending no one has seen for a hundred years. It definitely helps him be a boss in fights.

the first season is by far the least interesting imo.. just wait trough it.. the story picks up damn fast in season 2 and then 3 you will be sad it's over.

Hey man... sometimes even good shows are hard to sit through. You should never force yourself.... but i hope (3 weeks later) you find yourself enjoying it when indirectly viewing it with Nat! If not now... maybe have some attachment to some of the characters by series finale!

The show is geared towards kids but you won't be disappointed. It's one of those shows that, while childlike and silly, doesn't talk down to it's young audience and doesn't shy away from serious topics. Plus the character arcs, ALL OF THEM, are brilliant and well written. You'll learn to love every one, including Zuko and Uncle Iro. Especially Uncle Iro.

I got into this show because being a uncle - I watched every week with other people's kids - it was a great bonding show which I also enjoyed the show and the time spent with the kids... it's cool being the cool uncle of the family lol

Haven't seen the first part of the show in years, I guess it didn't age well but the later parts definitely improved quality and animation wise. While the show might feel a little more childish right now, it turns into something incredibly different along the way in the best ways possible.

Yeah I was hoping for 6 episodes a week, like 2 each Tuesday-Thursday. Would be done with the series in about 10 weeks then. But maybe she will still mix newer shows like Boba Fett or Hawkeye into Mondays or Wednesdays or something.

I watch it on Prime, and use VLC for the reaction. If I set the speed at 1,05 in VLC (ctrl+p then switch to all settings bottom left, go to codec, scroll down a bit until you see the speed setting, set, save, then restart the player to take effect) it is in sync. The reaction video uses a different codec setting, that's why it is 5% slower than the actual show. Just reset if you watch something else. It might also happen that after the first season it can be reset. When bringing the show on DVD and the streaming services there was apparently a slight corruption in the source files of the first season, which caused the irregularities and also reduced the animation quality. It cleared out after season 1 and aside from the picture quality it might have affected the speed.

Huh. The German and US Netflix releases differ a bit. If anybody has to re-synch: - the Nickelodeon intros differ - Nat's version has a recap between Katara's intro and the title card - the fade to black for commercial breaks (2 per episode, I think) is a bit longer on Nat's end So it takes a bit of work to synch stuff up nicely.

I posted this elsewhere in this comment section, but I also struggled with the early part of the show. It's a fine cartoon, but didn't seem to be living up to the hype. That said, the show really picks up towards the end of the first season and just gets better and better all the way to the end of the show.

tried twice to watch this series and couldn even finish first season. ill give it a try with nat for the last time... PS: maybe after this one we can watch some 90s series like Gargoyles. Its on Disney+ and its definitelly one of the best animated series ever

I watched this show because of the internet popularity of it and I have to say at first I didn’t really get it. I mean, it was a fine cartoon but it didn’t seem worthy of all the hype. But I stuck with it and I have to say that once it got rolling (about middle of season 2 for me) it really did not disappoint.

Gaaah! So excited you're starting this show! I was 27-ish when I got turned onto ATLA. I was fresh out of the Army, and aside from watching a couple of anime films, I was very much in the camp/mindset of "bleh, kids show. Not even gonna bother" even though I'd previously learned my lesson with Harry Potter. I was staying with my friend and his family for a while in Florida after I'd gotten out, and happened along the livingroom catching out of the corner of my eye, my friend and a couple of his kids watching this show together. I didn't pay it much mind at first, but I happened to walk in during a very EPIC fight scene (not gonna say which one xP ) and caught myself saying "damn!" aloud. My buddy was immediately saying "Right!?" and that was pretty much it. I almost immediately started to binge the series, and it quickly became one of my favorite shows of all time! Easily in my Top 5.... maybe even 3; I'd have to give that some serious thought lol xD So glad you're starting this journey, Nat! <3
