Love the music in "The Drill".

Evan Pierce

Honestly I wish there was a way to turn off the recap, it spoils so much!

Sinewmire

Jet wasn't in the recap on German Netflix. I was so confused when your recap was a good 30 seconds longer than mine! 😅

Jules Readner

I am super excited to see you watch the next several episodes. One of the best parts in the series

Matt Parker

been absolutely loving re-watching this series along with you. can't wait until you return :)

PHOE-NYX

Yeah I think it's got elements of Air bending methods

devin flynn

sand benders are earth benders, but they've adapted to the desert. it takes two completely different sets of techniques to bend sand versus earth, however, so there aren't lots of people who can bend rock and sand.

Steven Tarsitano

i feel like every episode from here on out is an absolute banger. i love zuko alone, i love the chase, i love the library and the desert, and i love every episode to come after.

Steven Tarsitano

i don't think Iroh was hit by lightning, it was just blue fire. all of azula's fire is blue lol.

Steven Tarsitano

I know haha. I'm just really into animation and the production of Korra and action scenes with studio mir were just like no other. Atla was great, but korra really upped the anti. but like I said the characters in Atla I loved way more. but Korra also is how I entered the franchise so maybe there's that nostalgia factor.

DonnyRoy

Saying Korra is better is bold lol. I enjoyed the more societal avatar atmosphere and the lore it added with Wan but I could never connect with the characters like I could with ATLA

christian giles

I was thinking she needs to watch korra after atla. For me, I like korra better. I know I know, I’m in the minority. But I like the characters better in atla. Just the story and action set pieces is upgraded in korra. BUT. Arcane is phenomenal and should be on the list.

DonnyRoy

YOU NEED TO WATCH ARCANE AFTER ATLA!!!!!!

Yusuf

Yeeessss ARCAAANNNNEEE!!!!!

Yusuf

Fun Fact: The avatar state scene was so impactful and cool that a youtube video called "Aang goes HAM against sandbenders" has 3.7 million views. At least 20 of those are from me.

Faith Thomas

After finishing Avatar, I'd love to see Arcane on Netflix. It's probably my second or first favorite show, but it's so neck and neck with Avatar that I can't decide which is best.

PearseNation

That's legend of korra my dude

Nathan Elkin

Gosh when Aang discovers Appa's pelt she's gonna be devastated

devin flynn

about the Episode 11: Does anyone else notice tophs face? This is her first time feeling/hearing Aang in the Avatar state. She has a look of shock & fear. She hears the earth running beneath her and the wind blow. Sokka sold that "Just get out of here! RUN!" line. All the Avatar voices speaking as one. It was epic. I say he cares about Appa so much that, Aang himself felt threatened. He, appa, and momo are the last of their kind. And oF course.. katara being the MVP! Keeping everyone in line and when the look Aang gave her when she grabbed his arm was bone chilling. So much pain and anger. And katara looks back with pain and understanding. She out of all people know how it is like to have someone you absolutely love be taken from you. I love this show and it's attention to detail!!!!

Anthony Dimas

Welcome to all the new ATLA Patreons 🤗

Darryl Low

Agreed. I hate the recaps. They can seriously spoil the entire episode.

Will H

same

Jonathan Wood

Thank you, Natalie! This series is what made me sign up for your Patreon and it has made me so happy watching Avatar along with you :)

Jake w

Even with 3 episodes this still wasnt enough lol. These my most looked forward to videos!

John

Saaaame! Icant wait. Im ready to cry right along with her lol

John

Tales of Ba Sing Se next im excited for more nat tears

Ben Gilshenan

Stop watching the recaps to hold the anticipation of where the episode goes. Let the suspense BUILD😳😳

Dominic Delacruz

Very true. The next few episodes are heavy hitters.

SweetCandle

lmao I just thought.... How did Tai Li not drown

MarkyO

I like to think of Sokka as extremely smart in certain areas and very...oblivious in others. He's a great strategist and always the one to think of the bigger picture, but sometimes makes unwise choices when under pressure (no food/water) lmao. Him high on cactus juice is still so funny to me. Also: Its very funny how, even though he is a little hopeless when it comes to intentionally trying to smooth-talk girls, he has more game than anyone else on the show (suki, yue, and then tye lee and toph's little crushes on him)

Cayce Carson

There's a lovely little detail in "The Serpent's Pass" when Suki comes to talk to Sokka at night. As she heads towards him, the moonlight illuminates the scene, indicating that Yue is giving her blessing :)

crawlie

I think it was smart to have Appa’s absence last as long as it does. Most shows, cartoons anyway, would have him found by the end. As it is, the anxiety builds with every ep he’s not there

Ben Wheeler

I've been looking forward to "You muzzled APPA?" for the entire run. No doubt the show still has some big big moments coming up, but there's always been something about that moment. It's so raw, it's so different for Aang even compared to his Avatar outburst in front of Monk Gyatso's body and the solution to it, in the moment, is a HUG. I'll never not tear up there. Seeing the reaction to that was very much worth the price of admission. Enjoy your travels.

Shen V

Not always, sometimes the recaps are important in the later episodes as it brings up stuff you haven't seen in forever.

Lorenzo Baxter

That's not really what it means. Maybe the other Avatars are silently present, but he's the one who unintentionally activates his Avatar State, no one else.

Lorenzo Baxter

And by the way, the Order of the White Lotus is not a "cult". It references real world traditional organizations that could be called "Estoric" or "Initiatic" orders, or what modern people would call "secret societies". This show is mostly inspired by ancient Chinese tradition, and those organizations were quite prevalent in China up until the 19th century, so it is a very nice reference. The very name "White Lotus" refers both to Hindu and Buddhist teachings about the symbolism of the Lotus as the Spiritual Center, which is one of the most important concepts in those religions, as to Chinese concepts (there is a book about Chinese esoterism called "Secret of the Golden Flower").

William Matos

Glad you have been enjoying the series! There will for sure be more tears to come. Based on the events that transpired in episode 11, your reaction was not unexpected. Keeping in mind that the characters are children navigating life during a war amplifies the feelings that I have for them whenever I watch ATLA

David Pan

Hey Natalie, I don't know if anyone has recommended this yet but you need to watch Arcane on Netflix. It is easily the best show to come out in the last few years. The acting, characters, story, animation, art style, and music are all 10/10. I truly can't understate just how mesmerizing this show is, and I know you would really enjoy it! Plus its only 9 episodes.

Andrew Irwin

Honestly stop watching the recaps. It’s no point. It just spoils what’s gonna happen in the episode.

RJ

great episodes! If I could make a suggestion for the next show (If it's an animated one) I have to recommend Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It's one of my favorite shows. Has both heavy themes and light heartedness. I've rewatched FMAB so many times.

Yasin

Aang crying in the Avatar State will never not wreck me. It's the first time that's happened. Even when he discovered Gyatso's body, the rage of the Avatar State overwhelmed his sadness. He's so unbelievably hurt over Appa in that moment in the desert, that it's like every Avatar understands and is crying with him.

Blackbaldrik

Shit the shows really heating up now!

J

The Serpent's Pass is one of the sweetest episodes ever. Plus I love how in this episode Aang straight up confesses his love for Katara and they make it so natural, and don't make a whole event about it like any lesser show would.

William Matos

They are!

William Matos

Plus the Serpent's Pass is the sweetest episodes ever. Really big moments for them, you love to see it. Not to mention, I love how in this episode he straight up confesses his love for her ("full of hapiness and love... how I feel about you") and they make it so natural; any lesser show would make the whole episode just about this moment and make a whole drama about "wow he's confessing to the girl he likes", but here they just integrate it to the overall issue of Aang's conflict and how he overcomes it, and on top of it you really get the sense of how much the love between these two go way beyond just a crush, or even beyond just romance in itself to be honest. Really adds a lot to the stuff we where talking about the other day!

William Matos

In the sand bender scene keep in mind this was Tophs first time experiencing Aang in the avatar state. Just imaging how she felt when Aangs voice suddenly changed to a sinister tone with hurricane force winds. She obv couldn't see it, but with her enhanced senses she definitely painted a terrifying picture.

Miguel Torres

I think the pregnant couple in this episode is also the couple from a few episodes back, when Zuko was travelling alone and decided not to steal from them because she was pregnant. And then they get help from the Avatar in the Serpent's Pass and now Iroh is meeting them. I love the little recurring details in this show!

Megan

so this is the last ATLA uploads for this half month right? i guess that means you start next episodes on 22nd? just wanna clarify. And again, i still wanna recommend Lego movie (2014) and Batman Lego movie (2017) to be in your watch list. I believe theyre on Netflix? or HBO max, i dunno which. Hopefully youll watch these soon.

Anton Ny

WOW 3 episodes YAY this was a nice surprise and Great great reactions even though you were tired you delivered great reactions Nat! hope your neck is much better now 💛💛 safe travels!!

Krystal

I know it's early yet for new series, but I'm gonna throw a couple of ideas out now and maybe people can chew them over for the next few weeks: The Umbrella Academy (Netflix): A very unconventional superhero show, two seasons so far. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (Netflix): Another animated show, aimed at a younger crowd, like ATLA, and also very good. Farscape (Amazon): A not-very-serious sci-fi series from the Henson Company. Babylon 5 (HBOMax): One of the most epic sci-fi series ever made, from the '90s. Doom Patrol (HBOMax): A superhero show even weirder than Umbrella Academy. Daredevil (Disney+ after March 16): The first and arguably best of the Netflix Marvel series, probably worth watching at least one season before Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home. No reason.

Kevin Mowery

While watching them spoils stuff, skipping them would make syncing the episodes even harder for people, and it's already hard because there's differences in timing between regions and she's using US Netflix. It's a tough call whether to skip them or not honestly.

Caomhan84

one thing i can recommend is to stop watching the "previously on Avatar" beginning scenes. they can spoil alot of stuff that happens in the episode which can be more fun to figure out during the episode.

justin trimble

Those sand benders are lucky this show aired on Nickelodeon😂

Miguel Torres

3 episodes? Queen 👑 This is worth skipping class for

Shado

This is the darkest mood we've ever seen Aang in. And they just don't get a break. They come through the Serpent's Pass, then deliver a baby and now the next crisis is already here. As for Netflix, I think they are putting episodes together the way they were aired. Nickelodeon would sometimes air two at once as a single whole. In fact, the series finale was aired as a single two-hour event.

Texas Anla'Shok

When you said "I'm gonna cry", it's like Pass the Tissues Nat 😭 So many great moments today, and the music was just so good. Hopefully we will catch uppa with Appa next time. Stealing him and selling him, that's out of order! Thanks for an amazing extended ATLA video today Nat. Look forward to continuing the journey in a few weeks. Take care 💛

Darryl Low

Extra episode!!

john collins

Natalie 10 episodes ago: "Aang is so immature, man. He needs to grow up!" Natalie today: "He's growing up SO MUCH!" *cries* Hahahahaha. :) Also, I love that whenever they show the Avatar State, Katara is either the cause of it, or the solution. And I don't usually cry during movies and shows, but that moment in the desert where she pulls him out of the Avatar State (literally) makes me tear up....every single time. Well done for a children's cartoon.

Caomhan84

Episode 11 really messed me up when I watched it as a kid because Aang, the peace-loving monk who considers all life sacred, "killed" an animal and stranded several Sandbenders in the desert to die. Very dark stuff

James Hahn

girl these tears are only the beginning...
