I’m not wearing a shirt. I guess she’s not talking to me.

I mean, in a sense OT Star Wars is childish, because the themes are kind of simple and it's fantasy I guess? Would however argue that it is quite different from what this show has offered. Anyone can see that from the teletubbies-esque chasing of a slow child by supposed-to-be serious adults to Vaders bumbling about like a confused abusive uncle - among other things - makes this show seem distinctly made for children - even though just some editing could probably make it seem less so.

Tomas

Anikans overconfidence is his biggest flaw. thats why he let Obi-Wan go because in his head he knows he will get Kenobi.

Josh Wilson

@Brian Jones and you used yourself as a perfect example of a "Phobe" or "ist". Always love it when you Disney Era haters tell on yourselves so easily.

Michael Rockenfelder

Somehow i very much doubt you got kicked out *just* for saying it was poorly written.

Michael Rockenfelder

Wow. Nat scorched Kenobi. Unfortunately, that was very much in line with many complaints the series had from fans. I hope the show picks up for you Nat.

Marcus Powell

The Book of Boba Fett might as well be The Mandalorian Season 3 all things considered 😂😂😂

Jules 4 Fools

I wish people cared about the environment the way nerds cared about being right in a discussion about space wizards.

MightyHobo

i agree i really dislike this show as someone who really wanted to love the show

Banana Hammocks

Book of boba fett is not optional if you have plans to continue the Mandalorian season 3.

@Nathan Steele - "hand-wave away racism and sexism" Imagine being so incapable of actually discussing the issue that you feel the need to completely misrepresent my position. It would be absolutely hilarious if it wasn't a self fulfilling prophecy described in my previous comment. I most certainly didn't "hand-wave" anything away. What I said was that it wasn't the "vast majority" of the people making the complaints, and that Disney only being able to produce an extremely paltry amount of examples was suspect as hell. Especially considering their long record of using such excuses to cover for the worst of their work.🤦 "and feel so superior that you honestly think you can say that people who like new SW content "brainless"." I said no such thing. What I said was that was what Disney was catering to. Which is certainly the case considering the laughably braindead writing on this show. I strongly suggest you work on your reading comprehension skills. But you do have the gift of building strawmen in spades.🤦 "Its almost like you were probably pretty young when you saw the Original SW trilogy and it landed for you exactly as intended" As it did for the adults of the era, as it was a direct homage to the weekly serials of old. As was Indiana Jones. Hence the adult appeal. Do tell Nathan, would you call ripping the heart out of someone's chest kid friendly? How about completely dismembering them with a lightsaber and setting them on fire? Or even just chopping their hand off.🤦 "Also, the idea that A New Hope had some incredibly deep, adult themes " +2 for the strawmen as that statement wasn't in reference to ANH directly. You really do have a gift Nathan. Although do tell, did you think the charred and crispy remains of Luke's aunt and uncle was kid friendly for 1977? How about Han straight up murdering Greedo or Obi-Wan leaving a bloody arm on the floor of the cantina? But I digress. It seems the only way you're remotely capable of a rebuttal to anything is to build your strawman and then make an argument against your manufactured grievance. Why is it people like yourself are so prone to resort to hyperbole, mistruths, misrepresentation, and outright lying when you feel threatened? Have you ever bothered to ask yourself that? I highly recommend you try re-reading my previous post as you seem to have missed quite a bit of the details.🤦

Brian Jones

Imagine hating something so much that you hand-wave away racism and sexism, invent conspiracy theories to make yourself feel better, and feel so superior that you honestly think you can say that people who like new SW content "brainless". Its almost like you were probably pretty young when you saw the Original SW trilogy and it landed for you exactly as intended and then you got older and everything in the last 20 years has seemed for younger audiences. Wild how time works. Also, the idea that A New Hope had some incredibly deep, adult themes and meanings vs say what Obi Wan goes through in this series is pretty laughable, Ep 4 is as cookie cutter of a hero's journey as they come

Nathan Steele

@Anomaly - "the vast majority of people complaining about this show have been very transparently racist/sexist" That's simply a bullshit claim. Disney could only produce a tiny handful of comments that were remotely "racist" or "sexist" (less than 10 the last time I saw any real evidence) out of the literal hundreds of thousands (if not millions at this point) of comments criticizing this show across social media. A tiny fraction, of a fraction, of a fraction, of a fraction of examples. And it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if those were nothing but kids trying desperately to be edgy on social media. Hell, one wouldn't even have to be conspiracy minded to think Disney manufactured the whole thing just to deflect from the inevitable blowback because they already knew they had a complete dumpster fire on their hands. God knows they've done it before. It's becoming a trend now with Star Wars, Marvel, and even their live action remakes. Cry "ist" or "phobe", have it amplified throughout the print and online media to cover for your subpar product. Conveniently blame the fans for your own failings. It's certainly a common pattern. Sadly, it's also becoming this sad and hollow mantra for people attempting to defend said films and shows from valid criticism, all due to some crazy misplaced loyalty to an IP. But you can only cry wolf (or whatever "phobe" or "ism") so many times before even the most casual of fans notices it's a bullshit deflection. And people are noticing it more and more. "Also, people tend to forget that Star Wars is mainly marketed towards children" No one was saying that back in the days of the OT. Parents were enjoying those films along WITH their children. In fact, that tired line didn't even come about until the first of the prequels, and mainly in defense of Jar Jar and Phantom Menace. Star Wars was at it's best when it catered to ALL age groups. To adults and children alike. Many of the mainstream sci-fi and action films of the 70's and 80's didn't coddle children. They could have adult themes and still have content for kids to sell lunchboxes as well. Not to mention having pretty solid writing and original ideas. Something sorely lacking in big budget cinema these days. But all that aside, this show wasn't catering to kids, it was catering to the brainless.

Brian Jones

Ya Star Wars has always been childish and there's nothing wrong with that at all. It's a fun amusement park ride and that's all we can ask from it IMO

Anomaly

There's a huge difference between saying a show is poorly written vs being racist/sexist, and the vast majority of people complaining about this show have been very transparently racist/sexist by calling out very specifically Reva and Leia and suspiciously nothing else, rather than pointing out critiques of the script as a whole. Also, people tend to forget that Star Wars is mainly marketed towards children, and it's going to have exactly that quality to it. You ain't going to get oscar worthy material out of dumbass shite like Star Wars

Anomaly

Anytime the words "toxic", "hater", "sexist", or "racist" (or any other "phobe" or "ist" for that matter) are uttered in relation to the criticizing of a film or show, you immediately know you can tune that person out. It simply means they have no defense for the actual problems with the film or show, and are using those smears to deflect from having to defend the indefensible.

Brian Jones

"it doesnt have to make sense" ^^Probably the words most often spoken in the writers room for this dumpster fire of a show.😂

Brian Jones

Just listening to you make the comments about how mediocre the show is. You have to be careful. If the Disney stans hear that they’ll call you a bigoted right-wing WWII bad guy. I wish I were kidding but I’m not. I’m a lifelong Star Wars fan, but I will be critical when it deserves it and have been called all kinds of things. Even got kicked out of a Star Wars Facebook group for “hate speech” because I said Rise of Skywalker was poorly written. When people talk about toxic fandom, that’s where it’s at!

Richard

he’s a sith lord. he can choose to punish his subordinates whenever he feels like it. it doesnt have to make sense

Degenerick

And then punish your inquisitor for letting him go? Oh yeah, that makes total sense.🙄

Brian Jones

@Martin - Yes, and he's not the Lord and Savior you're looking for.

Brian Jones

Yes

Ryan

Have you heard of a guy called Dave Filoni?

Martin

Eventually, when the time comes that the creators of it love it again, that love will be reflected in the work. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's going to be anytime soon, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

Brian Jones

Yeah I didn’t make it past episode 2 on this one. I’ve decided just to check out on all Star Wars related stuff for a few years, I want to love it but I just don’t seem to anymore.

Ryan

You should react to Obi-wan pitch meeting after watching the show. Also, Mandalorian season 3 is good.

Thomas Richter

Nat: "Grab a drink, grab a snek, and let's get into Obi-wan!" Obi-Wan: "Hello there!"

Thomas Richter

for me this is the weakest show so far. Makes no sense to me.

Thomas Richter

You’re not alone. Some things feel real childish to me and too easy but I guess one could argue that’s what Star Wars has always been.
