FIRST TIME WATCHING: Hereditary!!

Oh boy....this one...

Good luck watching this with me y'all. I wish we could have all just sat in a theatre together for this one...I recommend you skip the headphones unless you HAVE to wear them.

For those who are interested, I rented this movie on Amazon Prime.

Alright....take care and best of luck to you! Haha

FIRST TIME WATCHING: Hereditary!!

Comments

Toss up between this and paranormal activity movies for scariest ever for me. Ari is a brilliant filmmaker . Can definitely tell you can’t do scary . Nice reaction though . Well done .

Billy B

that was the most annoying reaction ive ever seen. you're acting like a fucking attention staved 8 year old.

jimmy2k4o .

I honestly think it's time we talk about nat's setup. We actually pay for this privilege but people watching the youtube cut get to see way more of the couch doggos than us patreon folk. Would love to see if the pups react the same way i do to nat's shrieking. lol

Hugh Jacked-Man

I know it doesn't matter now but of your 'takes' of the intro bit the first was by far the most natural and well done. :) But they all were great. :)

FalcorDragon

Hereditary is ok as a horror movie but a better and far more disturbing one is Audition (1999). Well worth a look 😊😊😊

William Burnham

I gotta give you points for being able to watch and keep your headset on for most of the film, I knew the last 10-15 mins were gonna be rough, but you actually saw a decent amount with some screaming πŸ˜‚. This movie has got to be one of the most haunting horror films I've watched in a long time. Its always the film that I go to when people ask for horror recommendations. Everything about it, from the symbolisms, the acting, the incredible sound design, storytelling, it just grasp you and never lets go. This is definitely a film you need to watch more than once, just to catch everything you missed the first time, well if you can stomach it lol.

Noctis

Just looked up a clip, Hell to the no. I was sooo stressed watching that scene. I'm amazed people signed up for it let alone stuck around to finish the movie.

DrowningKraken

The scariest movie I've ever seen was a movie called ROAR and it's not even a horror movie. When you read on up all the injuries and near death moments on set and you realized Melanie Griffith have to have to face pieced back together, Jan De Bont was scalped. I think something like 70+ were sent to the hospital. The film wasn't even released in the US initially. So, you have all these lions, panthers and just all about wild beasts on a sanctuary farm just doing their thing amid humans, you're just scared for all these actors and crew members. The movie starts out saying, "No animals or hurt or killed." Not true. There was a flash flood where some of the big cats were drowned and a few escaped and were hunted down and shot by the local sheriff.

Philip Davetas

I watched it once previously, I remember I liked it. Then I rewatched it here and I was surprised that the little girl died πŸ˜† I absolutely erased the scene, I somehow thought that she was there for the whole movie

Fostena

I feel also that the jumpscare trope gave a bad reputation to the horror genre. I have friends that say they "don't like horror movies", when they clearly don't like *bad* movies. Then I show them a good one without jumpscares and they are like "but that wasn't a horror movie". No, friend, you've been watching crap-horror for the last 30 years.

Fostena

Dude I wish I had the same opinion as yours. I legitimately tried to like those movies. The first one is not that bad. It's a bit long, but is not terrible. The other two... I couldn't find much to enjoy, to be honest. I downloaded a 1-movie cut of the whole trilogy, basically a condensed version, no fillers. I will give it a shot. By the way, I don't know if it's an unpopular opinion but I kinda liked Rings of Power, the Amazon Prime series.

Fostena

I've seen somewhere close to 2000 horror movies and this might the scariest I've ever seen, But the weirdest thing for me is I've seen this movie 3 times and somehow I keep forgetting just how scary this movie is. I was literally asked recently what movie scared me the most and I said it was between The Exorcist and Ringu, didn't even think of Hereditary. But right now, having just finished this it is clearly more frightening than either one of those. Kind of freaks me out a bit how the fear seems new every time I watch it.

Richard Maurer

Hereditary is really the polar opposite of Insidious or The Conjuring, which are basically nothing but jumpscares, The people who write those movies need to study this movie and maybe get clue how to make something that is genuinely scary.

Richard Maurer

They're. no Lord of the Rings.

Richard Maurer

I was watching your Alien Isolation stream and it was mentioned you watched this and I knew I HAD to get your full reaction, so now I'm a patron!

Sam Winkler

I thought they were great :) :)

Dodge 10

Tony Colette floating in the air and slowly decapitating herself will forever be etched into my brain and anytime I hear a noise that sounds similar I will immediately poop myself and crawl into a fetal ball of tears and blubbering.

Jack Burton

You'll both be ok

Adam Baker

You've got to watch Clue (1985). Not a horror or a halloween movie but it's spooky and a masterpiece.

LionBro

i noticed a figure in the corner, but couldnt make out who it was. this was due to the fact that i was distracted by the pissing of my pants

Elmo

Hereditary and Midsommar messed me up for a while, ngl

Elmo

oh my god you are such a DORK!!! lol

Johannes Roux

I really kinda hate that she had to experience this movie.

Michael G. Munz

Dude, I told you it would jack you up beyond on all recognition. But let me just say this. I watched the whole 2 hours and 7 minutes with you. The first time I saw this flick, I hated it because it was just too a slow burn. The second time I watched it, I felt like I understood it. The third time, it was much more fast paced than I remembered initially. I'm really sorry you had to go through this, but I was entertained by your reaction throughout. So, let it be said.

Philip Davetas

This was great and the issues this family has, wow. Like with Annie states her daughter was "killed" to Joan. It shows where she was at mentally. Great reaction!

Ernesto

God damn you, Nat. I'm almost afraid to watch your reaction. But at the same-ass time, I giggle like a demon.

Philip Davetas

LOVED!!! I laugh so hard on the takes! SO MUCH FUN! Love this movie too, one of the few in the last years that is really spooky and have a rich plot. Love this reaction! Stop procrastinating Nat!! hahahahaha btw: I like better the firth take ^^

MrPHead

no one ever notices toni in the corner of the ceiling during that really dark wide shot of peter waking up in his bed, right before going downstairs to find his father. it’s one of the best scares that slips right passed everyone

Marcus Perez

Giving it a thumbs up for the intro alone. Can I stop and watch something else now please

ButtyOh

You still have time to do Little Shop of Horrors for Halloween

David Guin

I LOVED that you left all those intro takes in, they were hilarious to watch xD

Danishprince

Proud of you for getting through this one! I remember that I was scared AFTER watching this movie the first time and not just during it, and I don't experience that often

minuteforce

πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ The best post credit scene in the history of cinema tbh.

Navjot Singh

I just noticed you can actually hear people in the house at the very start when the family come home from the funeral

Adam Baker

Making her watch Hereditary is cruel enough but wanting her to see those movies.. There are just some levels of cruelty I won't cross!

Danishprince

We some damn Sadists ain’t we Nat?

Ryan

Take the Beatles song Blackbird and replace the first line with Nat's new lyrics "Grandma sitting in a field on fire" 😊

Darryl Low

Truly a one of a kind traumatic experience, thank you Nat! I almost wished we were all watching Scooby-Doo after the nut allergy scene.

Walter Lopez

Nat, what a trooper you are. I know you hated the experience, but know I had an awesome time watching it with you and you had me dying with the multiple intros. First you thought you were watching Caroline then Hotel Transylvania then Scooby Doo.🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣

Joshua s. Jackson

🀣🀣🀣🀣

Joshua s. Jackson

Amen

Joshua s. Jackson

My only note: You called your dog a Pomeranian? I'm no expert, but I thought Pomeranians are typically much, much smaller. Your dogs look like American Eskimos to me.

Jomero

Toni Collette got fucking ROBBED!!! She didn’t get nominated for this performance by anyone. Horror gets dismissed even when it’s true art and brilliant.

djKENTO

Ari has a gift of getting those cold icy fingers of terror around your brain without the use of the typical music building and very predictable jump scares. It's the art of making the viewer uncomfortable in their skin. Midsommar had the same effect as well. It's usually done through uncomfortable character interactions or extreme emotions so it just builds naturally. The terror in the entire car/beheading sequence is amazing, and there's no horrific imagery at all until the very end of the sequence, and by that point it's almost inconsequential. You're already invested in the girl having the allergic reaction and Peter freaking out, and then just the hold on Peter's face after the impact, the shock he's in while going home and laying in bed, and Toni Collette losing her shit off camera when she goes to the car. I remember seeing that in the theater and the crowd was absolutely speechless during that whole sequence. You could hear a pin drop. THAT is how you do real horror and get inside the head of your audience. It's all just well written/acted/shot/edited human reaction. It's scenes like that which had so many people came away from this film saying "it's disturbing". Same with the family dinner scene.

Brian Jones

One thing I appreciate of Ari Aster's filmmaking is that he practically never uses jump scares. Because he knows how to *properly* scare you without cheap tricks. In this movie there are maybe 3 or 4 "loud bumps" that wouldn't even count as jump scares in other horror movies

Fostena

Oh my God, why? πŸ˜† You are cruel!

Fostena

The family members are all "dolls" (they are manipulated) in the hands of the cult. The theme of the movie is also explained quite explicitly by the teacher at the beginning, where he is discussing about the lack of choices. They are all manipulated, they don't know anything, they are helpless and are sacrificed. Awesome movie!

Fostena

I think you made a lot of great points when you said, β€œno…NO…NOOOOO…NONONONONONO AAAAHHHHH.”

Travis

Oh my, singing scared Nat is my favorite thing lol !

CΓ©dric Tremblay

Hey Nat! Love the videos! I was wondering if The Hobbit trilogy has been on poll lately. Its a great trilogy and would love your reaction to it since its been a long time since the LoTR reaction.

Dodge 10

I know it isn't meant to be but Nat your reactions thru the 3rd act brought a lot of joy to rewatching this f'd up film...the hand jesters and no, no, nos πŸ˜†, couldn't help but laugh.

Charlie Keeler

You missed the after credit scene where Nick Fury recruits King Paimon for the next phase of The Avengers.

Sean Maher

oh dear god

Squ33ky

Nat you're a god damn champ ! I love horror movies but this is one of the only movies that truly fucked me up. It's so unsettling from start to finish.

Philippe Dessaints

Thank you for your suffering, Nat. I never got around to watching this movie but this upload really made me sit down and watch it. And watch you. It's so nice to have a terrified woman on the other screen distracting me from the horror. It's really nice not having to sit here "alone". Trust me; you gotta. Because we're making you sit there by yourself. Plus dog. I hope you're happy with your career choices. I know I am right now. See ya next time :)

Shen V

It wasn't so bad πŸ˜„

Opti_Frog

The screaming πŸ˜… Well done! It is a very upsetting movie.

Ana Fox

Top tier stalling attempt, Nat.

Sean

I'm a huge horror fan, but I held off on watching this movie for a longggg time because it mentally annihilated my cousin, who's as much a horror fan as me. Toni Collette's scream in the morning gave me nightmares for a week.

Andrew

I know what delayed the release...the intro!

Ben Wheeler

Niiice, provably my favourite all time horror movie other thab like guilty pleasure Sleepaway Camp

Woody G

Should be good!

Troy

when you tweeted you were in bed and couldn’t fall asleep after watching a scary movie… i knew we were in for a treat with this one πŸ˜…

Jamie A-H

Here we go :)

Dan SΓΆderlund

This'll be extra fun

Godzilla Jones

I've never seen this movie before so will be a fun watch ☺️

Jamie Mulholland

Good luck, friend.

Andy Jordan

I've been hoping for this one since I became a supporter all the way back at the beginning. This is one of my favorite films of the 21st century, up there with Lord of the Rings and Arrival. I hope you're not scarred for life after this one. 😊 Cheers, Nat!

Andy Jordan

Happy Feature Friday, Natalie! 😊 Really looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. I was trying to decide on which scary movie to watch tonight. It's going to be "Hereditary" along with your reaction. Have a great day and weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! πŸ’›

Randee Carreno

Happy Friday Nat. I've not seen this movie before, and holy shit it was a hard hitter. It was no wonder to struggled to sleep after watching it. It was disturbing for sure. Definitely raised the hairs on the back of the neck, and got the scares going early 10 minutes in. Your intro was awesome and I look forward to the YT edit. "40 Minutes Left. I Hate My Life" is the perfect Natmares T-shirt slogan Nat πŸ˜€ I'm off to watch some Scooby Doo to calm down now before bedtime. Thanks for an incredible reaction today Nat, and for all your work this week. Have a brilliant weekend πŸ’›

Darryl Low

I am honestly shocked Nat was able to make it through this movie at all. We appreciate you torturing yourself for our pleasure :)

Dante

This should be interesting. The cult is there the entire time. If you watch the nighttime exterior shots of the house you will see more and more of them in the frame as the movie goes on. Pour one out for Gabriel Byrne, poor guy just trying to keep some form of normalcy as the entire family deteriorates around him. :) I liked this one quite a bit more than Midsommar, but did like both films overall. I think Ari Aster shows some pretty amazing talent as a filmmaker and am looking forward to Disappointment Blvd.

Brian Jones

Well i have to wear headphones. RIP ears, i guess πŸ˜‹ Edit, after watching: Such a brilliantly crafted film. I agree with all the praise you gave. Sound design, acting, script, cinematography ect. is amazing. I just with it wasn't SO. FUCKING. DEPRESSING.
