FIRST TIME WATCHING: Stranger Things S3E5!!

Comments

I picked the wrong episode to have Italian food for dinner.

Charles Herbig

her main conflict this season was sexism in her work environment... and the dude was her main bully..

Ariana Mitchell

season tier list imo: season 1 for nostalgia, then season 3, season 4, and season 2. I binged this season in one night when it first came out, stayed up until 4am. I get why it might feel all over the place right now, but you'll see how the storylines come together really nicely.

Trinity Davis

Look at it like you haven’t seen the show yet and don’t know what is going to happen. I think it’s more that she doesn’t understand why the Mind Flayer is doing what he is doing. Those of us who are caught up know where this is headed. It will all fall into place soon.

Zack Wallace

to be fair, when i first watched this season i was equally confused

alejandro

I am kind of surprised at how much Nat has missed this season. She's way more confused than she should be at this point in the season

Dante

She seems to have come in with preconceived notions about it for whatever reason

Dante

I love the big Russian dude. Gives me Terminator vibes, CONSTANTLY.

Riolkin

If anyone has already mentioned the length of some of the season 4 episodes just ignore this, Natalie. Every episode is over an hour long. The season finale is over 2 hours long. Just so you can begin planning for that season in your schedule.

Zack Wallace

I keep hearing this, but I haven't seen 4 yet. I've been rewatching the first 3 seasons here with Nat so I can get back into the swing of things. I can say that the hype around that season has me very excited.

Riolkin

im diying to see her reaction to episode one final scene

oscar latorre

Oh snap u rite!

hurryupmode

yo forgot maybe the most important. the invasion of the body snatchers of 1978

oscar latorre

Season 4 was the scariest, but also best, season for me.

Dave A

Sooooooo, Natalie seems to scare easily and gag alot......has anyone warned her about season 4?

Pat_Bez

They are all linked. The way Will was to the vines. The first hint was when Billy was in the sauna, Driscoll went nuts.

hurryupmode

There are a lot of homages to 80s media, and more yet to come. - The 'Kit-Cat' clock on the wall of Driscoll's house was a reference to Back To The Future's opening scene. - Hopper's shirt and stache is patterned on Tom Selleck as Magnum PI. - The Russian Terminator is just that, the Terminator. (Mayor Kline even jokingly referred to him as Arnold Schwarzenegger) - The infection method is, as you noticed, patterned after the facehuggers in the Alien franchise. - The mysterious green acid is a reference to the acidic green blood from the Alien franchise. - The Russian guy saying Policemen have rules is a reference to Die Hard. - The exploding rats turn into fleshy Blobs as seen in the 80s remake of The Blob.

hurryupmode

They are eating/drinking chemicals to help their body break down so the monster can all form together

Corey

You were commenting on Hopper's look in the last episode. The reason Hawaiian shirts with blue jeans were a huge thing in 1984 - https://media.giphy.com/media/C1VhdGEjqDIOI/giphy.gif

JayF

Season 3 has lots of 80s Pop Culture & characters with Russian Henchman resembling Schwarzenegger's T-800 Terminator, Tom Holloway's dead body turning into John Carpenter's The Thing creature, Erica crawling thru the air vents like John McClane in Die Hard, Todd Father dressed like he's from Miami Vice, LOL!

Alan Felicia

The shows really good at putting things together so they make sense, i think there might be a handful of things u didn't realize or may have forgot. This is a show that might take a couple watches for u to really appreciate whats going on and the journey they're taking you (us) on. i think you'll end up loving the rest of the series

Anthony Jackson

The disrespect towards Hopper. How dare you. That's it, no more sleepovers with El for you, Mrs Gold.

Shen V

I felt the same way when I first watched it. It took another watch for me to fully appreciate it. But I agree that Natalie is reacting to it a bit weirder than I expected. She seems to be criticizing little things much more. Some of it might be unfamiliarity with the particular references, which are hampering enjoyment. I don't know.

Caomhan84

And now that I've finished the video. Yeah, you're really overthinking some things, and just completely missing some things. Like when Billy was in the sauna they were all affected. We got that by seeing Ms. Driscoll's room that night. And we even learned that in the previous season.

Craig Bowling

She seems to be vibing with this season the least so far. Really surprising.

Adam Baker

Deserves to lose his job?! He has the Russian terminator after him. I've said it before, you can't forget things that happen in Stranger Things (some stuff that might even make you roll your eyes or chuckle) are just references to classic film.

Craig Bowling

She'll figure out the distinction once she sees the mayor again

hurryupmode

She still hasn't picked up on the Terminator references with the big Russian guy. It's funny at this point.

Caomhan84

To be fair the Mayor/Editor distinction was not already explained, the show just expected people to be able to tell the difference between them visually. That's not always something people can do. I often have great difficulty remembering subtle differences between people I've not seen much before.

Ed Green

It's not messed up that he commandeered a car. He's not going to lose his job because he took a person's car. Yes, they are all connected. Just like we saw in the last episode. No... that's not the Mayor, it's the Editor of the paper. I wonder what will be confusing next episode that was already explained. lol

Jack Burton

the only reason for any of the flayed was literally just so the mind flayer could have a physical form. that whole army of people dont have any purpose besides becoming that sludge to combine. and yeah all of the flayed are connected like when driscoll was freaking out while billy was getting woman-handled by eleven

idcjayyy

Yes, all the Mind Flayer's hosts are connected to each other. When the kids trapped Billy inside the sauna and made it too hot for Its liking, you could see that both Billy and Mrs. Driscoll were suffering from the extreme heat even though Billy was the one in the sauna and Mrs. Driscoll was laying on an hospital bed and probably miles away from him. The very same thing we saw in the previous Season when the soldiers from the Hawkins Lab started burning the root tunnels and Will began screaming because he felt like he was being burned all over.

Alucard

It seems you broke at the end.

Thomas Richter

Lol that actor has an amazingly sleazy face (he is a great actor) as a man I’d feel feminist driving a fire extinguisher into it

Nathaniel Castle

Feminism? I think that scene in the hospital was pretty much just survival/life and death. It had nothing to do with sexism. /smh.

BJ Stephens

Wow so many references in this season and especially this episode! The shining Magnum PI Die Hard Invasion of the body snatchers To name just a few! This is awesome

Nathaniel Castle

It’s easy to overthink this episode which I think is what you’re doing. But it will make since later. The mayor actors name is Cary Elwes. I’ve met him at Comic-Con and he is awesome as well as one of my favorite actors.( he took my advice on a good place to eat here in South Carolina.) I highly recommend watching the Princess Bride

Seth Workman

I loved it so much it’s so perfectly 80s

Dante

It’s definitely a Terminator reference. I mean, the mayor literally said he was Arnold Schwarzenegger last episode

Dante

They should have done a deep fake and put Arnold's head on the Russian's body, that would have been hysterical

Skizane

Happy Tuesday Nat. That was definitely an action packed pre-title sequence. I think he's meant to be more Terminator than Frankenstein. And I loved the throwback line to Die Hard, when he said he wouldn't shoot him because there are rules for poilce men, to which Bruce Willis replies "So my Captain keeps telling me" 😂 The look on your face at the end Nat as you tried to process what had just happened was so awesome, and your "I'm outta here" signing off 😀 Thanks for a really great reaction today Nat 💛

Darryl Low

On the other hand I do understand why people hate the completely unnecessary Russian Terminator

ButtyOh

The weird Russian plot seems to get a bit of hate online but I actually quite like this season

ButtyOh

I feel like Nat hasn't been paying too much attention to the little things as to why characters do things or why things happen. The reason Hopper let Joice drive at the start of the episode was because he handcuffed himself to Alexei. Also they explained in the previous season with the test tubes and heat that they are all connected.

iMarks

This season really starts to come together starting from the last episode and into this one. Season 3 might have the strongest 2nd half out of all of them imo
