And it's totally not Murray's fault.

Charles Herbig

"Her pupils are crazy big. How do they do that? Do they use eye drops?" Nat, it's called method acting.

Charles Herbig

I feel her husband's pain. My wife LOVES THE RIDES but I am scared shitless by them, even the Ferris Wheel because I have a powerful fear of heights. So I usually try to make sure she has a friend with her when we go so her friend can do the rides with her.

Lucifer Moon

One of my favorite references in this season isn't even from the '80s, it's from the '70s. The mayor's name is Larry, and he's determined to have a good Fourth of July celebration. The mayor in Jaws is also named Larry, and that's his motivation as well.

Jeff K

Personally, I absolutely love their platonic relationship, and the fact that not everyone needs to be paired off with someone. It adds a great dynamic to the show, for me anyway. It's become one of my favorite elements of the series.

Jeff K

I think the switch to corn syrup part was a myth...they did it obviously but not when new coke came out....as far as I know

Chris Lane- Venturi 3D

Yanno... I can't tell you how many times I've watched and rewatched all of Stranger things, always picking up on new references..... never noticed the Jurassic Park homage until you mention it, Nat; Mayor Clein even says "We spared no expense!" lol! xD

SmokeAndACoffee

Justice for Alexei.. I'm still heartbroken over it. He was so pure and innocent :( He just wanted to have fun, drink Cherry slurpees and watch Looney Toones :(

Danishprince

When he's posing for pictures, you can see the Mayor is using a ton of make-up to hide the bruises haha. RIP Alexei. He was a sweetheart 💔

Ana Fox

Season 4 was the best. Idk what’s up with other people lol maybe you all accidentally watched season 2 again or something. But season 4 is definitely the best with seasons 1 and 3 tied for me. 2 wasn’t as great but still fantastic. They have never messed up on this show and I doubt they will with season 5. This isn’t season 8 of game of thrones lol

Natasha Medina

For me, after rewatching the first three seasons with Nat, season 4 is definitely my favorite. But to each their own.

Richard Maurer

Yeah, I thought it was cool change from the boy meets amazing new girl after a break up trope, although considering how the show is basically nothing but 80's tropes the more cliched one would have probably been more in keeping with the Stranger Things norm.

Richard Maurer

There's a conspiracy theory that new coke was never meant to succeed. It was just created so they could switch from cane sugar to corn syrup in the old formula without anyone noticing. I don't know if the timeline on the sweetener switch checks out but if it does then that would seem to be a good explanation for new coke.

Richard Maurer

This series is definitely chocked full of 80s references. There is a cool video on youtube where they talk about all of the different movie references they took inspiration from. The Duffer Brothers even went to the extent of making sure everything in the show was from the 80s.

Robert Miller

I think they were right, thought it was great, frankly more interesting than the basic rote, standard boy meets girl trope. I don't think it was, as some say, a distraction, just made me love Robin and Steve even more because, gay or straight, pretty sure we can all relate to unrequited love.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

The only Coca Cola worth drinking is made with real sugar and bottled in Mexico.

REDR58

This is the best episode because Robin came out to Steve, and Maya sells it super well how scary that is, and even more so in the 80's. This is the worst episode because they took Alexei from us. I'll say it wasn't totally Murray's fault, they probably would have found him either way, but this way at least he had a moment of (rigged, overly commercialized, but still) "freedom".

Shen V

Season 3 is my 2nd favorite behind season 1. I find the season even more enjoyable when I rewatch it after knowing how everything ties together

Dante

As a gay man, I was pleasantly surprised, and can totally relate to being in the awkward situation of having to tell your friend you love spending time with that you're not into her like that. Robin is also one of the few characters that I felt wasn't shoehorned in as a gay person. Her lead up and reveal felt natural to me, unlike most Netlix shows.

Adam Baker

BTTF is a movie that is like a warm comfort blanket. And If memory serves me right that radio takes 8 AA the flashlights take 3 C battery

TuvixLogic

I feel like I wrote this comment, haha. I could not agree with you more!

FullMetal B

I also was not a fan of season 4. I won't go into detail about why until Nattie finishes it though.

JayF

Yeah I remember being pissed. Not that a character was revealed to be gay, just to be clear. It was that they teased the relationship the entire time up until that scene. It sucked.

JayF

Re the comment about wanting to finally get to season 4. Season 4 is very good, def better than 2 and 3, but still not really close to as good as season 1. I hope people are not setting you up to be disappointed. There are some cool moments but it's just not as well thought out a story and doesn't have the same magic. It also kinda retcons the whole continuity in a way that makes less and less sense the more you think about it.

Shawn E Mercado

I like how it shows that just because you have amazing chemistry with someone doesn't necessarily mean you should be a couple. I think in a series called Stranger Things it's part of the charm that spotlight is given to relationships that are less conventional but equally part of real life experience. Kind of riffing on the similar theme of having started with socially outcast nerds and a socially deprived girl raised as a lab experiment. And Steve himself is a break with convention, having progressed from typical high school jock to 'team mom' as he's been called, and having been shown in the process to never have been quite as much of a stereotype as we initially thought he was. In fact the only relationship in the show which is a cliche is Ted and Karen, which as we've seen has not been a great thing to be and requires additional gestures from within like bribing the ride operator to stop you at the top.

Ed Green

I know I may get flack for this, but I don't really care. I think that was a big mistake. I'm sorry but those two characters have amazing chemistry in this season, and that they pulled a bait-and-switch just because the actors thought they shouldn't do it was the one and only real negative strike for me on this season. This is my favorite season in the show and it would have basically been a 10/10 for me if they had them end up together at the end. Just my personal opinion, each to their own.

BJ Stephens

Oh you sweet summer child, you missed out on the whole New Coke debacle :)

Patrick Egan

Robin and Steve were initially intended to end up a couple but Maya Hawke and Joe Keery convinced the Duffers to change that because they didn't think it felt right, and the two of them spent their own time rehearsing and workshopping the new scene.

Kevin Mowery

Elaborating a bit more on the New Coke debacle: At the time a series of "taste tests" showed people preferred the taste of Pepsi to Coke. And those tests were right, so Coke made its flavor sweeter and less acidic. Thing is, that taste test only measured which flavor people preferred for small sips. In larger amounts, people actually preferred the taste of Coke. The related argument, regarding The Thing, was that John Carpenter's movie The Thing from 1982 was a loose remake of the 1951 film The Thing From Another World. Also, hilarious that with everything that happened in this episode, we're all coming on to say, "Oh, you don't know about New Coke?"

Kevin Mowery

yea in the 80's coke came out with new coke with a different flavour, everyone hated it and they switched back to the "classic coke" but it wasn't really, original coke used sugar cane but "classic coke" uses corn syrup which tastes similar but not the same, some people believe the whole new coke was a stunt so people won't notice the difference between the original coke and classic coke which was cheaper to make.

Bowkind

The Alexei death really got to me the first time I saw it :c Still makes me really sad.

RationallySassy

And in the 80's Coke changed its formula and everyone hated it, I rem it tasted like a flat Pepsi =( that's why Coke today is called Classic Coke.

Jayson Phillips

Hopper likes the flower shirts because his fav show is Magnum P.I. and he sees himself as Magnum.

Jayson Phillips

New Coke was one of the most horrific crimes ever perpetuated on mankind.

Ryan

Happy Things Tuesday Nat. Another fun reaction but tinged with the sadness of Alexei getting shot. Man, so sad. He didn't deserve it. I love that they had the Back to the Future score in the background of the scene when Mike and Dustin were trying to speak on the radio ha ha Looking forward with some unease towards the finale tomorrow. I do remember what happens. I hope you replenished your single tissue before you watched it. Thanks for today's video Nat 💛
