Won't that be fun.

Charles Herbig

Yeah going thru HS in the 80's was just keeping your head down and hope you don't get noticed. I was basically Eddie in HS.

Jayson Phillips

Awwww young NAT!!! pics or it didn't happen!

Jayson Phillips

bullying like this actually happens, where everyone is standing around and watching and the bully making a spectacle of it. I made the mistake of standing up for a kid being bullied and there are dire consequences to doing it because then they start on you. So, yes, bullying in this type of environment does happen, this portrayal of it isn't that far off.

Marcus Carter

I loathed bullies as a kid (still do). I'd go out of my way to bully the bully if I ever saw it happening. And if I ever saw a boy attacking a girl, well... he'd only ever do it once, let's put it that way. I went from the targeted of mockery to the one everyone feared - and I'm not sure which was more isolating an experience.

Laura Thornley

The bullying scenes really did trigger my rage reaction when I first saw it. I remember that kind of behaviour growing up. I just dealt with it differently - I ignored it right up until either they touched me or targeted someone else. And if they were dumb enough to try it they'd only ever do it once - because I'd slam them to the ground and sit on them until they cried. The bullying eventually ceased as I got through the entire school's bullies, but I was still very isolated and sad. I was by far the biggest kid there and also the nerdiest - not a great combination. Oh, and I was a closeted trans kid. But yeah. Fuck bullies. They never truly grow up.

Laura Thornley

Yes, I'm aware that's a ridiculously, almost insanely long response.🤷🏻‍♂️

Jeff E

It's all good. Thankfully that original episode in S2 was one-and-done episode. Here's hoping the Duffer Brothers stay on-track and don't revisit any part of 2x7 - "The Lost Sister.” It’s definitely their weakest writing in the entire series, so it’s not surprising that it’s also the worst-rated and worst-reviewed episode of the entire series thus far (34 total episodes). The ratings are BRUTAL for that episode! Most fans agreed it was terrible and a waste of time, so it's safe to say those fans would be THRILLED if the show NEVER referenced Kali/008 or any part of that bottle episode ever again, even if it means a tiny, potential "plot hole" will always exist. Ross & Matt are well aware that a majority of fans overwhelmingly disliked (or hated) that episode and they've acknowledged that it wasn't the best way, story-wise, to accomplish what they needed to accomplish. They wrote themselves into a corner with no obvious way to get Eleven where she needed to be emotionally and psychologically for the finale. So, out of necessity, they took a big risk and decided to try something very different, which they’ve discussed ad nauseum. The only problem was that the entire story was not only mapped out and outlined already, but the scripts were almost finished. So, what did they do? They ended up taking inspiration from Star Wars. Specifically when Luke goes away to train with Yoda and is forced to face some real questions in order to grow and learn about himself: who does he want to be? What does he want/need to do with the abilities he has inside him? And is he destined to fall to the dark side or is there still time to rise as the most powerful Jedi alive? In Stranger Things lingo, it was, “Is Eleven a monster or a superhero?” It was tempting her to the dark side, all in service of leveling up her powers for the finale. Ultimately, Matt & Ross used their Star Wars inspiration to throw together an isolated, tonally inconsistent bottle episode that absolutely grinds the momentum of the story to a halt, mid-season. They knew it likely wouldn’t work. They even tried to pull it out of the show, just to make sure that they needed it, but without it, Eleven's journey would fall apart because the rest of the season failed to make any real effort to get her where she needed to be, emotionally and psychologically, by the finale. Despite how terrible it was, it did enough to justify Eleven's massive spike in power and confidence in the finale, but it could have been handled SO MUCH BETTER. If they were telling the story of Season 2 NOW, I have no doubt they'd find a different and significantly better way to tell that part of Eleven's story without the need for a wacky, standalone episode that completely departs from the tone of the season (and the series) to push the story, or Eleven's journey, across the finish line of S2. Oh wait, they DID tell another story just like that one. It’s called…SEASON 4 lol. Eleven has to go on another important journey to learn about herself, her past and what she’s capable of in order to realize she’s NOT the monster and prepare her (as much as possible) for the finale. What a way to show that they learned from their mistakes in S2 and redeem themselves for that awful S2 episode within the massive web of stories that make-up S4.

Jeff E

she wasn't forgotten about lol

alejandro

yes! not to mention the flies and spiders all over the food signifying that she hasn't touched any of it / starving herself

alejandro

There is not a different 008. There are however more kids after El.

Aaron Lovik

Try the SheHulk comics. They were a goldmine of content completely ignored for the show. They are basically retiring all the older male characters in MCU. When was the last time He-Hulk was not a big fat joke? Basically everything SheHulk did = wimmin R bettur 🤪 I got a bad feeling Antman will not survive Antman3.

James Quinn

When we get to an episode later in Season 4 I'll be correcting you about something.

Ed Green

Personally I thought She-Hulk was really good. I liked it way more than Ms. Marvel, and quite a bit more than Multiverse of Madness.

Ed Green

If you like Stranger Things, check out Brand New Cherry 🍒 Flavor miniseries on Netflix... don’t let the name fool ya! It’s hardcore supernatural horror to the bone only ALL ADULT, whereas ST is half about 80s kids. Set in the 90s, starring my yaaasss queeeen Rosa Salazar aka Alita Battle Angel herself. It’s a dark and freaky ride. I just finished watching Natty Gold’s reaction to Jessica Jones which I loved when it first came out... how does the MCU go from that Netflix masterpiece to the likes of She-Hulk 😡😡😡 I don’t even want to talk about how bad it was, but could have been awesome. I’m comparing the two because they have STRONG female leads I guess (literally). Been watching her channel for over a year, but had to join Patreon today to say these things 😉

James Quinn

There are kids that are younger than eleven, so 008 can just be missing and there can still be 11 kids in the facility. In fact, there's a shot that shows 14 kids on screen at once, and the cast list goes up to #018

Omni Jacala

Did you notice the connections and/or references from other seasons?. Something you'll see a lot what Vecna says to his victims, which connects directly to an important part of S3.." “Don't be afraid. Just try to be very still. It will all be over soon." There are also clock chimes in all 3 seasons at specific times when doing with the Upside Down. In S3, after Billy crashes his car & gets Flayed, he escapes into the street, which transforms into the Upside Down. At that moment, you can clearly hear the clock chimes. There are MANY MORE connections that come later in the season that I'll wait to talk about until you watch those episodes.

Jeff E

God, I feel old.

Michael G. Munz

Luckily Eleven's "sister" from S2 has been completely forgotten about and glossed over. She doesn't exist because there are 11 kids in the facility so there is a different 008.

Jeff E

Right up there with parents checking Halloween candy for razor blades.

REDR58

De-aged little kid Eleven is so adorable.

Skizane

Doesn't need to, and stop spammin this shit lmao jesus

SupremeCai

Ah fuck, forgot there were 4 seasons lol

SupremeCai

Need to try Warrior Nun

Snacky Munchies

The beauty of this season is how well everything will eventually tie together at the end; each detail. you're in for another emotional rollercoaster!

Bee

Who remembers the Satanic Panic? I'm an 80s kid who went to high school in the 90s, a Goonie. I remember there was a time when evangelical born again types, were just on one, blaming society's ills on movies and music. The irony is, it was a religious magazine that showed a bunch of heavy metal album covers, like Iron Maiden and Dio, etc., and had a centerfold that showed all the symbols they thought were witchcraft... Immediately turned me into a metal head.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Natalie was the cool girl in high school was she. Not cool as in popular but cool as in Cool in italics. Only the cool kids know about the toilet paper roll and dryer sheets.

Ryan

I think I mentioned it before, but I would love you reacting to "Sherlock holmes" the BBC series some time.

Retz

As far as moving schools, yeah, I was, but I knew most of the kids in the neighborhood anyway. However, they all had history with other kids since kindergarten. I really didn't get my own bully until junior high. And he was my own private bully. He was just fixated on me because I was a smartass and had all these weird artistic talents that took away attention from him in other classes. Eventually, we had it out and then we were cool. Then I stumbled into a new bully where, again, we had it out, but we didn't become friends, but he didn't mess with me again. Other than that, I rode out high school in the print shop where me and other artistic types just talked about movies, TV, music and what we wanted to do in the big, bad, world. Oh, I grew up in Los Angeles. Lived there for 30+ years.

Philip Davetas

Three O'Clock High, yes, everybody would watch any drama happening, you can't spell America without "Erica".

Daniel Vezina

Nat referencing a "friendly neighbor" had me dying

Patrick Gorrell-Brown

This season, every episode is so good and full and rich. This season was huge accomplishment.

Josh Schwarzbauer

Forgot to add- love how the Duffers paid a homage to another classic 80s scarry movie (franchise) "Nightmare on Elm Street" - Buckle up Nat this season's roller coaster ride is gonna be wild!

Alan Felicia

The wait is finally over, Season 4! What a way to start and extremely cool that Nat knows a couple of the new actors who have joined the show!

Alan Felicia

when you stop a tape it stays at the part it was last played Steve was probably rewinding the tapes

MightBeJon

Eddie Cosplay when???

djKENTO

I went to High School for one year in California from 2002-2003 and it was still just like that.

Myles Away

Grew up in California in the 80's, this is exactly how schools were with everyone outside congregating and watching everything; truly terrible.

John Burkhard

For an upcoming episode reaction: 1. leather biker jacket, 2. denim vest, 3. (optional) Hellfire Club tee (hello, Etsy). Just sayin'.

Andrew T

About Grace Van Dien (daughter to the great(?) actor Casper Van Dien) dying this episode, the Duffers actually kind of regret it. They filmed her death before filming the scene with her and Eddie in the woods and didn't realize until then that the two had such great chemistry together and then wished they had kept her around longer to play off of that. But then again, her death is what kicks everything off this season so I'm not sure where they could have gone with it. Growing up in the 80's this entire series is so full of nostalgia, and none more than last season's Mall and how it was THE place to be and to be seen. It's been fun taking this trip with you, and I'm glad you decided to jump back into the Stranger Things pool after not getting very far in Season 1 way back when.

Tony Sanson

yes, the group standing around 11 watching is accurate. Except sometimes the group would join in too, in a twisted "audience participation" event. :(

Christopher Boscarino

Ive been waiting for thiss!! I just want episode 4 to be here. I never get tired of watching people react to that episode!

John

"How can they see where you pause"... video. tape.

PickettsChargingPort

Now that we've started, I gotta say ... I'M not ready for this. This season ... sure does things. Please enjoy. Well. "Enjoy".

Shen V

Billy was one of their Star players, so his death would probably be sad for the basketball team. Steve used to be on top and then Billy played him like a child so he probably had VERY high status

devin flynn

The younger Eleven in the beginning is a different actor who resembles Millie Bobby Brown when she was younger. However, Millie Bobby Brown’s face was added digitally in post.

Zack Wallace

her side glance into the camera said enough hahha

Ariana Mitchell

my dad went to school in socal in the eighties and he said it was accurate. a lot of mob mentality and horrible kids lol

Ariana Mitchell

I prefer the edited reactions, so I have a bit longer to wait, but excited you're starting this season so quickly after finishing the last!

Dave A

EEEk so excited to watch this with you!!! I would like to add that Chrissy had an eating disorder! She was throwing up at school, her mother in the first vision called her a "fat pig", and later mentioned loosening her clothes! I can't wait til next week to watch some more episodes!

Julia

This season is SO incredible! I think it's the best yet, and think this is gonna be such a fun ride for Nat (and us watching along xD). This season in particular hits a lot of personal chords with me (and I think a lot of people, they did such a great job with it). Can't wait to get deeper into the season, so it can be talked about spoiler free xD

SmokeAndACoffee

the sneaky look after the toilet paper roll and dryer sheet hack omf i love y nat lmao

Trinity Davis

im soo excited for this! Its gonna be awesome, a lot of tears, but awesome lol

Victoria Tofoli

It's sad how we go from sweet little children to menaces sometimes. I was bullied in middle school after switching schools, especially by this tall guy who physically assaulted me as a short pudgy girl. It was only once thankfully, but the mental bullying was worse. unfortunately I think its a part of growing up, helps you grow albeit in a hard way.

Trinity Davis

Nat gotta be or a retired stoner lol only ogs know the toilet paper roll

FateMalone

Please watch Andor next pleeeaseee!

Andy

This is going to be a wild ride, can’t wait to watch this season with you

Flo

We appreciate the heads ups on the issues when you post them but stop apologizing. We know you're working on it if there is a problem and anyone who gets mad or upset if you have technical issues should stop and relax and smoke a doob.

Jack Burton

Loved the reaction! You're going to have quite a ride this season.

Aaron Lovik

Really enjoyed watching this episode with you! A good start to an exciting season. :) Definitely a bit dark from the start.. there's no denying that. One thing this episode wasn't all much of was depressing. I'm thankful for that! Last season when we lost Hopper it was brutal. This episode was sad at times but it didn't dwell on it. No, it moved along without sacrificing character growth or moments of loss/sadness. This show did it right, I feel.

Logan Kerlee

So, about 6th of December then...

Andrew Dickinson

Steve can see where she paused (or stopped) the movie because it's 1986 and they're renting video tapes. If you stop the tape somewhere and don't rewind before returning, it'll be right where you stopped it.

Kevin Mowery

now I can't unsee it, lol

Steve J

Here we go!

Len

I never thought about it that way. I totally agree. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul as well.

Zack Wallace

Just here to comment that Nat is sporting the same badass haircut as Eddie :)

TrackHoodie

The opening scene in Brenner's house has a very LOST season opener vibe in my opinion

Chris Mcbrayer

Same!

Lisa Tosti

I had so many plans to get started early today... there goes that idea lol.

Aaron Lovik

Awesome!! I will watch it now

Josip Buretić

Ahhh I've been looking forward to this all week! Can't believe we're here already! I'm so excited to see you experience this newest season. Let's gooooo!

Jenn Rose

Dropping everything! I've been waiting for you to get here! Happy Thursday!

Zeliodes

Oh, hey! I'm happy! :D I'm gonna watch this now.

Logan Kerlee

Awesome Nat. Happy Things Thursday. Been looking forward to watching this with you as I haven't seen it yet 😊 There was a lot going on in this episode, setting up a lot of new players for the show. It will be interesting to see how they all come into the story. The creature at the end definitely gave me Nightmare on Elm Street vibes. Very much like Freddy Krueger getting you in your unconscious sleep. Yikes. Thanks for a really fun reaction today Nat. Can't wait to see where we go next.

Darryl Low

The way I leaped to go get my iPad to start this with you lol. So excited for your reaction to this season you are so not readyyy

Dylan Tuesday

Yay!!! So excited! Make sure before watching this season that you check episode run times. Some are as long as movies.
