2024-07-12 01:55:42 +0000 UTCfor me, the greatest moment of this episode is delivered by Natalia Dyer... after they found Fred when the new police chief is questioning her, and then in the middle of that the car pulls up, and Steve, Dustin, Max and Robin get out of it... the moment she sees them and the looks on their faces, she just KNOWS: "oh shit, we're doing this again..." such a great performance

2022-12-13 10:31:45 +0000 UTCThe older I get the more I realise these 'exaggerated' corrupt cops aren't so exaggerated. Yes those cops were breaking the law even as it was in the 1980's. And they know it. They always know it. They just don't care because who's going to stop them?

2022-11-22 11:36:37 +0000 UTCDude, I hear you on interacting with other people. When I was raising my son, it was hard on my brain. While I love the shit out of my son, I felt like my brain was turning to kimchi. I needed to read, interact, have long discussions about life and the universe just to keep me going. As my son got older, it got much easier because it was fun watching his mind expand. There are only so many conversations with cats where you're both stimulated. Otherwise, it's mostly, the cat saying, "Just gonna eat that shit you left in my bowl and then take a nap and forget I'm your master."

2022-11-17 05:58:01 +0000 UTCYour S4 reactions have been just as great as the actual episodes! I'm so glad you stuck it out with the campy and shaky S2. It definitely remains the worst of the four seasons. The good news is that the Duffer Bros really learned a lot from their mistakes that season and made a really impressive recovery in time for S3, which was a fun, exciting return to form for them. All of that allowed them to lay absolutely incredible groundwork for S4. I'm so glad you watched the previous 3 seasons back-to-back very recently because it will allow you to (hopefully) pick-up on so many more things than most of us did when we first watched it (at least those of us that didn't do a re-watch refresher beforehand lol). I'm SO excited to be taking this amazing journey again and to have the opportunity to watch it with you. I can't wait for EVERYTHING to unfold the rest of the season. LFG!!

2022-11-17 00:20:37 +0000 UTCto be fair, the only time in s3 Mike said he loves El was when he thought she was in danger and he was lashing our against the others, he never told her directly. Not when she said it to him in the finale, either. I think it fit his character quite well, in one way or another
tova~
2022-11-16 23:48:34 +0000 UTCYeah. When this season first aired I got so sick of people crapping on Mike. These characters are 15 at this point. People need to stop expecting them to act like they're 30. Natalie had it correct when she said he was being the best boyfriend he was equipped to be. I thought he was doing okay for 15. Maybe he should have said he loved Eleven (And maybe we can blame the writers for creating that situation in the first place since he told her he loved her in season 3) but he was doing okay. You don't have all the answers at 15. You're an awkward teenager.

2022-11-16 21:00:16 +0000 UTCI know this group are anxiously awaiting to Nat's Reaction to Episode 4, I know I am, but, can we agree that Murray is a natural treasure this season! LOL! Also, Nat's observation so far is On Point!

2022-11-16 17:47:52 +0000 UTCTo be fair they had no way of knowing when or even if another murder would occur.

2022-11-16 17:36:18 +0000 UTCAndor is the best star wars content since Mandalorian and episode 6 or 7 was one of the better hours of Star Wars ever
adrianR31
2022-11-16 12:26:20 +0000 UTCI agree, even though we would have been deprived of an *epic* scene later in the season.

2022-11-16 11:34:53 +0000 UTCI can actually believe that the government wouldn't have found El.. She was never "out" as Jane Hopper while she was in Hawkins and Evans helped Joyce relocate quietly in California before El started attending school. And I am so calling BULLSHIT on Joyce being oblivious to Jonathan being high all the time. Joyce Byers? Who used to cut class to sneak cigarettes with Hopper back in high school? Who turns an indulgent blind eye to her son's girlfriend climbing out his window in the morning? Joyce Byers, the epitome of the cool mom, who pays attention to her kids? Joyce Byers doesn't recognize the smell of weed filling her house for months? Absolutely no way in hell. It would have been much more in character for her to firmly whisper to Jonathan that she's going out of town so he needs to put down the bong and be responsible for a few days.

2022-11-16 11:31:38 +0000 UTCWe're all ready for you to see episode 4....heheh <3

2022-11-16 11:05:49 +0000 UTCfor sure! he's like 15 here and also has been through so much trauma he's bound to not be perfect
Rhys
2022-11-16 09:18:10 +0000 UTCIt's really cool that the clock sound existed way back in the first episode of the first season
Rhys
2022-11-16 09:15:41 +0000 UTCdefinitely! people tend to forget that they're young, maybe because the actors look older or something

2022-11-16 07:21:41 +0000 UTCThis season really creeped me out so much on first viewing. I couldn't binge it like I did the other seasons. I limited myself to one a day because of the creep factor. Vecna is truly disturbing to me for some reason. Maybe because of my own past trauma (which I have processed healthily at this point) and how he uses trauma against his victims. That and he's just physically terrifying as well. More so than the previous monsters. It's not so bad on subsequent viewings. I still have to close my eyes when Hop is trying to get the shackles off though.
Marty McGee
2022-11-16 07:15:58 +0000 UTCYeah that's true, but I'm glad they didn't for upcoming story reasons.
Marty McGee
2022-11-16 07:06:47 +0000 UTCI do think Mike should have told El he loved her. Especially in the scene where she's practically begging him. It's frustrating, but I don't hate him for it. People tend to forget that these characters are kids around 15 years old at this point. Looking back, I know I wasn't emotionally mature at that age.

2022-11-16 07:03:38 +0000 UTCEpisode 4 is my favorite episode to watch reactions for!
John
2022-11-16 05:54:51 +0000 UTCI circled around his name because I wanted to keep the comment general, but yep, that's exactly who I had in mind when making it! Mike is my favourite character, has been since season 1 first aired, so I'm used to the hate toward him by now which is what makes someone /not/ do that that much more nice haha

2022-11-16 05:24:24 +0000 UTCHey Natalie, We know you're trying to finish up with Stranger Things but would love to see your reaction to Star War's Andor. It's an amazing show, and it expands the story of Rogue one's character Cassian Andor, would hate for u to miss this amazing story so please when you're done with a stranger thing do watch Andor please!!!

2022-11-15 22:51:05 +0000 UTCcheerleader had trauma from her mother, she had an eating disorder. you here her talking about how she needs to loosen Chrissie’s uniform and calls her a pig. and then the table with the food covered in bugs

2022-11-15 22:01:17 +0000 UTCRegarding the editing, all the extra time they had during the pandemic really shows in the season. All of the production is way higher quality. The score really shines too.
adrianR31
2022-11-15 21:56:12 +0000 UTCThe best thing they could've done for Eddie was take him to the police. Keeping him safe while easily proving his innocence when the next murder occurred.
adrianR31
2022-11-15 21:47:29 +0000 UTC"Did the helicopter make the house rumble that much that it knocked all her pots and pans down?" Yes, they do. My cousin's husband hovered low over our house in his huge helicopter once when I was little, and made a watermelon in our kitchen explode. I will never forget that.

2022-11-15 21:11:12 +0000 UTCLoving this season so far, the thing that i think is linking the victims is guilt, car crash killed people, max's survivors guilt and whatever the cheerleader
Nathaniel Castle
2022-11-15 20:28:53 +0000 UTCi really like how much you try to understand all the characters and show compassion for everyone, a lot of reactors and fans in general tend to pick sides in ex. arguments and stuff, but you don't really do that. it's not exactly anything new for this particular reaction, but i just felt like i needed to say it in general!! there are a lot of characters i like and think are interesting that most people just dismiss or find annoying, reactors included, and it's a nice change to see someone /not/ do that!
tova~
2022-11-15 20:15:07 +0000 UTCI don't know what the situation was in California in the 1980s. But at least as of 2022, it looks like a parent doesn't need to be present for questioning, but if a minor is in custody (i.e. not free to leave), they need to have a lawyer present and that's not something the minor can waive. That doesn't necessarily mean it never happens, and especially not that it didn't happen in the '80s. "Cops break the rules" isn't a recent development. And the "one phone call" thing that Nat got very excited about is pure fiction. Just made up for TV shows and movies.

2022-11-15 20:01:26 +0000 UTCahh so excited for you too see ep 4 easily one of the best eps of the season

2022-11-15 19:54:44 +0000 UTCI'm really glad you're enjoying this season so much. Buckle up, because it only gets more intense. One thing I think helped is that it felt like they got into the thick of things faster than in previous seasons. Rewatching these episodes, I forgot how much of a jerk Mike can be. That and I'm remembering how much I love Robin. Ever since we first met her in Season 3, she's been one of my favorites :)
Patrick Egan
2022-11-15 19:22:39 +0000 UTCIn California nowadays a minor under 17 is required at least to have a lawyer consult with them before they are able to waive their Miranda rights, and then they can be questioned, even without a parent present, but this law requiring a lawyer wasn't enacted until 2021. In the 80s there were almost no requirements when it came to interrogating minors vs adults, nowadays most states have some sort of legal requirements prior.
RonJon
2022-11-15 19:14:37 +0000 UTCI did, and I typed out the wording of the law in my state almost word for word above. I'll do it more clearly for you, Title 16.1 Chapter 11 Article 4 Section 16.1-247.1 Subsection A: "Prior to any custodial interrogation of a child by a law-enforcement officer who has arrested such child ... the child's parent, guardian, or legal custodian shall be notified of his arrest and the child shall have contact with his parent, guardian, or legal custodian." Subsection B then goes on to describe the exemptions that I already typed out above.
RonJon
2022-11-15 19:04:23 +0000 UTCI mean, that's just wrong lol. You could use the device of infinite information in the palm of your hand to verify that it's wrong in like, 30 seconds. The police can abso-fucking-lutely question a minor without the parent present. They have to be read their rights and can refuse to answer without their parents and/or lawyer present, but they can aboslutely still be detained and questioned.
John Cedar
2022-11-15 18:56:25 +0000 UTCLaws vary by states, but in majority of cases this is not true. In general, a minor who has been arrested as a suspect may not be interrogated by law-enforcement until their parent/legal guardian has been contacted *and* has had contact with the child prior to the interrogation unless the parent has also been arrested, has been contactable after making "every reasonable effort to contact," or if the officer believes that the information is necessary to protect life or property from imminent danger. However, in the case of the show, most of these laws protecting minors during interrogation were not in effect during the time period that this is set in, as they were enacted more recently, but in today's world there absolutely are laws that require the police to both notify AND allow them to contact the child before interrogations begin
RonJon
2022-11-15 18:53:28 +0000 UTCThe clock sounds are so eerie and really well done

2022-11-15 18:41:20 +0000 UTCJust love everything about this season so damn much xD \m/(-_-)\m/
SmokeAndACoffee
2022-11-15 18:41:10 +0000 UTCNot in any state in the United States unless the parents are present when the police show up, which they were not in this episode.
John Cedar
2022-11-15 18:33:13 +0000 UTCDepends where you live. Where i live, parents or guardians must be present during the interrogation of a minor.

2022-11-15 18:29:47 +0000 UTCHappy Tuesday Nat. Definitely cosy blanket weather today here in Scotland as well 🤗 This was a real intense episode. Loved your reactions when Hopper was getting his foot hammered. So funny 😊 We'll see what happens to Max next time. I kept the credits rolling at the end while I was watching your outro, and it's just the ticking of the clock getting louder and louder, and building into this huge multi-layered sound. It was quite amazing. Thanks for another awesome video today Nat 💛
Darryl Low
2022-11-15 18:26:47 +0000 UTCThe end credits playing with just the clock in the background is really unsettling. Also I just realized the Russian guard helping Hopper was the Faceless Man in GoT

2022-11-15 18:26:22 +0000 UTCThis.... Can we just all binge the rest right now please.... I would pay idk 100$ just to get the rest of the season to watch this week xD
