T2 is easily one of my favorite action movies. I think what you feel as jarring from T1 wasn't so bad back in the 80's, probably because it was revolutionary and the picture resolution on home VHS that was also adjusted to a 4:3 screen did not make it clearly noticeable as are current resolutions now. I think T3 is worth a watch, I am not really a fan of any of the others. I would also recommend the other Cameron and Arnold collaboration of True Lies, a great blend of action and comedy.

David Lonewolf Wright

Great reaction . I’ve watched these 2 movies so many times over the years. Was fun to watch again along with you.

Billy B

Terminator 3 basically says "Judgement Day is a fixed point", you can block the river of history but the course will just correct itself. Most consider Terminator 3 a questionable cash grab, it's not James Cameron so can be ignored. Terminator Salvation I think is an alright movie, it's mainly set in the future. I believe it ignores Terminator 3 but because it is mainly set in the future, and the Terminator timeline is a spiral (In order for John Connor to know Kyle Reese is his father before sending him back Terminator 1 is at least the third time 1984 has happened), Terminator Salvation could be any one of the potential futures. Terminator Genisys is "Ok, we've looped so many times now it's getting rediculous". And Terminator: Dark Fate is James Cameron returning to put the time looping out of it's misery and begin a new timeline. Dark Fate is a direct sequal to T2.

Eshin Squirrel-Knight Revan

The tv show The Sarah Connor Chronicles is fantastic, and most Terminator fans that have seen it agree it's a worthy "sequel" much more so than any of the later movies. The only downside to it was it was canceled after season 2, ending on a cliffhanger. It wasn't canceled because of poor ratings mind... it was canceled because of the writers strike at the time and some other dumb decisions by the network

Paul-Mihail Draghioiu

I'm late to the game on this so I apologize if someone's already said this, but the out they gave themselves for additional sequels was the fact that Arnold's cyber-arm gets left behind in the gears of the factory, causing them to fail to destroy everything CyberDyne. I don't remember if they use that explanation in the third one, as I only saw it once and never looked back.

Troy B.

I'm going to take the road less traveled here and recommend the last Terminator film too, Terminator: Dark Fate, from 2019. I also like T2 better than the first film, and I think the 2019 sequel is on a par with T2. It's the first one since T2 in which Linda Hamilton appeared - she had said she would never do another, but the script this time sold her. As in real life, her character is 28 years older, and the world is different. I think you'd like it.

Jim Finley

i think the 3rd terminator is worth the watch and really underrated

ISeeTrees ofGreen

Saw the Youtube post of this and was SO glad to see how you reacted to the film. I stopped when they broke out John's mother to come here and watch the full reaction. It's my favorite movie!

Samuel

I’m sure others have said this but none of the other movies are really worth watching. The only one you might consider is Terminator dark fate the latest iteration as it is more of a direct sequel to this one but it’s only medium and make some pretty bad cannon choices in my opinion.

Junior

Glad you enjoyed it. This is my favorite film of all time.

Bartman

You lucked out getting to watch T2 without Arnold's hero turn being spoiled. It was always clear from the film that it was supposed to be a secret that he was the good terminator, but when it came out (I'm showing my age), you couldn't escape the fact that Arnold was the good guy and Robert Patrick was the bad guy. Every trailer, every interview spoiled it.

Arthur Bright

Back in the days when the sequels were better than the OG.

devin flynn

I'm gladly in denial of anything Terminator after T2. Those movies don't exist and never made it past preproduction I'm my reality. At least there are many other awesome movies to get to. Predator anyone?

Cody Steele

Terminator 3 is decent (not as good as Terminator 2), and is a good "end" to the series. Just pretend the later ones don't exist

Clark Cox

Thats what we are banking on. That neural net ai has emotions like a real boy because if it doesnt we are in alot of trouble.

Cripkie

Thats what the author stated, maybe I,m wrong and the writer doesnt know their own content. You know writers, they have no clue of what their own story is about. (Nevermind, I dug further into it, and it's just a theory like you said, the author I was referring to was someone who claimed the movies were stolen from her book the third eye, my apologies, I was wrong.)

Marcus Carter

no, it's not... there are some movie fans and pundits and what have you online who entertain the idea that you COULD ... THEORETICALLY ... assume that the Terminator franchise might be a sort of prequel to the Matrix franchise and have it make sense as there is a lot of connecting tissue (theme and storywise... but it's not actually... The matrix just has a backstory that is purposefully left very vague... no-one seems to remember what exactly went down - who started the war - what happened - or even what year it is exactly and therefore when exactly the matrix takes place. It practically means you can put ANYTHING as a prequel in front of the matrix without having any contradictions in the timeline or stuff like... you could make a really dark Transformers movie in which the Decepticons win and enslave humanity and say that this is a prequel to the matrix...

Stefan Au

A great movie, one of my favorite action movies growing up for sure. A detail that I really loved finding out well after my first watch, in the Helicopter chase scene, if you look close you can see that Robert Patrick's terminator actually has a third arm holding steering the helicopter, while he uses two hands to reload his gun. Neat moments aside, I think Terminator 2 is a great example of the difference between great casting and great acting. I don't think it should be too crazy to suggest Arnold isn't really that great of an actor overall, compared to Gary Oldman, or Daniel Day Lewis, or a number of other go-to best-actors. But it's hard to imagine anyone playing the Terminator with the gravitas Arnold brought to the role here. He doesn't have a ton of range, but Arnold can really nail it in the right role.

Andrew Howard

Okay get this, you may want to research it, (never mind, I did it) soo... it turns out that terminator is a prequel to the matrix according to the writer. Thought you'd find that interesting, cause I was today years old when I found out.

Marcus Carter

I’m sure you noticed the reactions to whether or not to continue the series. Well, James Cameron didn’t direct any more of these films. With that said each film has interesting elements that the writers brought to the story. It does get confusing and some directors did better than others. I’d take the journey with you but I doubt many will follow. Respect ✊🏿

Marcus Powell

Don't bother with the other movies for a while. The other movies are not nearly as good.

Christopher French

There is a lot of hate and negative groupthink around the terminator films and most of it is uncalled for over-the-top. You really should just watch them and decide for yourself. I generally feel T3 is not bad, it is as good as T1 but not of T2. According to James Cameron, the only real ending of the franchise is Terminator: Dark Fate and despite all the hateful groupthink about it, the film is not bad and is at least better than T1. Even though T3 is not canon according to James Cameron, it does deal with the actual moments of the Nukes falling and the war starting and is a fun ride overall. So again, at least watch T3 for the fun and Terminator: Dark Fate for James Cameron's canon ending to the franchise and make up your own mind on whether or not they are good films. And Yes, before anyone decides to come at me, I am aware my opinion is unpopular, but I just prefer people making up their own damn minds and deciding for themselves instead of just listening to a crowd.

Lucifer Moon

I frankly prefer the Theatrical to the so-called "Director's Cut" for one reason--and that is the Director's Cut has a terribly out-of-place ending with Linda Hamilton in old-age makeup in the playground. James Cameron himself even disliked this ending (which is why it was eventually replaced to the more ambiguous shot of the highway for the Theatrical ending). It's pretty silly to market something as a "Director's Cut," when the director himself doesn't like a key aspect of it. I wish that more people were aware of the "Special Edition." It's essentially the Director's Cut, but with the subtle, better highway ending intact.

WastedPo

If you were going to watch anything else, and it's not necessary...T3 does wrap the story up fairly neatly, and I think has an underrated performance from Arnold. The best of the rest is The Sarah Connor Chronicles, by a wide margin. Lena Heady kills the role of Sarah Connor...and there are a few cool twists. Dark Fate and Genisys are terrible movies, and actively detract from the first three. Salvation is...well...it's a movie. It actually has a ton of good actors and actresses, but the plot makes no sense at all.

TwistedMagoo

Or the hidden armoury scene!

Laura Thornley

Double fun fact, the security guard that gets ambushed by the floor also had an identical twin that helped with that scene. Turns out having identical twins really helps with convincing special effects!

Laura Thornley

I actually like Dark Fate and honestly, if it had come out right after T2 instead of a bunch of bad films first I think it would have been much better received. I feel Dark Fate really just got a lot of hate due to franchise fatigue but if all those bad films between T2 and Dark Fate did not exist I think it would have been much more liked. I agree strongly with James Cameron that Dark Fate is a good movie and a good ending for the trilogy.

Lucifer Moon

I haven’t seen the theatrical version in forever, it’s crazy how much depth and subtext this version loses. Like they showed us the damaged chip but cut out the scene with the functional chip to show how important it is. The Kyle scene isn’t in it either. Crazy,

Jakob

I will go to my grave insisting that Terminator 3 is incredibly underrated. I think when you go into it adjusting your expectations--that it won't have the same gravitas or aesthetic of a James Cameron movie, and that not all characters are returning--then it's easier to appreciate how much fun it is. (It's also by FAR the best sequel after T2, in my opinion.)

WastedPo

Fun Fact: Linda Hamilton's real life Identical twin sister, Leslie, was her body double in 2-3 main scene sequence (at the park, climactic steel mill). Also, this was the last Terminator film in which James Cameron was involved in (until the recent Terminator Dark Fate in which James wrote part of the story)

Alan Felicia

Also I will say - Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines isn't a terrible movie. Its just not as good as the first two. But it does answer some of your questions about the overall story and neatly wraps up the trilogy. The others though... ehhhhhh. You can skip them, 100%.

Laura Thornley

OMG, absolutely 100% "Wednesday!!!" It's a global phenomenon at this point. Not only was it easily Netflix's #1 show of the week, but its whopping 341.23M hours viewed also broke the record for the most hours viewed in a week for any English-language TV series on Netflix. The previous record holder was juggernaut "Stranger Things S4," which broke the record this summer with 335M hours viewed in one week. It's even more impressive when you consider that the first 7 episodes that were released for "ST4" were nearly 2.5 hours longer than all 8 episodes of "Wednesday." I'm really excited for you to eventually watch "She-Hulk" because Tatiana Maslany looks, sounds and acts SO MUCH LIKE YOU, its crazy! You could seriously be her for Halloween or something. That said, there's no rush because her next appearance in the MCU hasn't even been announced yet. And while "Ms. Marvel" is actually a creative, fun show, the main character (Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel) isn't set to show up in the MCU again until July 2023 when she joins Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau in the Captain Marvel sequel, "The Marvels."

Jeff E

The funny thing is when you say how fast he's running... the actor was actually so fast running he had to slow down because he kept catching up to the dirt bike!

Laura Thornley

It's good that you had the small twist at the beginning preserved, the trailers back in the day famously gave away that Arnold was the good guy. It's rare for someone to be able to go in as blind these days. I have no idea if I did, I don't know how young I was when seeing it the first time, but it's years later that I even realised that it was meant to be a twist at all. I think I saw T2 long before T1, I definitely have a lot more attachment to this one than the first.

Śéáń

Only me in Europe who is now owning a VPN for the first time, just to see Nat's reaction to Terminator 2?

Christopher Larsson

I just realized the ST finale is as long as T2

Ben Wheeler

As bad as Genisys was, was still better than Dark Fate. Both of them absolutely ruined everything regarding John, but Dark Fate was more egregious.

Delta

Terminator 3 Rise of The Machines is worth a watch. Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles is also a great show AVOID DARK FATE! It shits all over Terminator 1 and 2 Also, at the time this movie was made, it was the most expensive movie ever made. It’s record for most expensive movie ever made, was broken by James Cameron’s next big movie, Titanic

Delta

Allan Rumberger

Yeah, I Googled the lyrics - LOL.

Richard Maurer

Loved the reaction Nat, like others are saying you can probably skip the remainder of the Terminator franchise and not be missing out on much. Some of them have their moments but some are even downright BAD (looking at you Genisys). The only exception may be Dark Fate which ignores all the other sequels and is meant as a direct sequel to T-2.

Keith Jacobsen

Watch the rest of the Terminator movies AND the rest of the Alien movies - said no one ever.

Richard Maurer

The last one is the most important one. That abomination of a series should never have existed, and has absolutely nothing to do with Tolkien.

Richard Maurer

T3 is meh for me. I wouldn't mind if she watched it, but don't care if she doesn't.

Richard Maurer

Agreed. Sarah Connor Chronicles is highly underrated. Arguably the only good Terminator story after T2. Too bad it never got to finish the story.

Saifu

So many bad choices. I think the Sarah Connor Chronicles might be the only thing kind of worth watching. 😂

Cory

the rest of the sequels aren't as good as the first two terminator movies in my opinion. another great classic arnold sci-fi action is "Predator", I hope to see it in a future poll.

fanofactionflicks

You could do a poll for which Terminator to watch next as all of them are basically unrelated alternative timeline sequels. Let US tell you what to watch with this poll: 1. Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines 2. Terminator Salvation 3. Terminator Genesys 4. Terminator Dark Fate 5. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (31 episodes) 6. Still don't watch any of them 😂

Jason Dolan

The true Terminator 3, if there is one, is The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It even manages to make the original bad T3 look in hindsight better than it actually is. I look on Dark Fate as the Terminator Franchise equivalent of Marvel's 'What If?' - a vaguely interesting but ultimately undesirable parallel universe. And Nat is already familiar with one of the more recent long-term works of the lead actor.

Ed Green

The only thing you missed in the special edition cut was John teaching the Terminator how to smile, the T-1000 being a creeper in John's bedroom, Sarah and John about to destroy the Terminator's CPU, but nothing really important. I look at T2 like I do EVIL DEAD 2. It's pretty much a remake of the first movie. But I love both films equally.

Philip Davetas

Definitely good to stop after this one - James Cameron stopped directing them and the quality dropped off significantly!

Eric Brown

Of all the sequels that exist, I think Nat should watch the true sequel, the sadly now defunct T2-3D: Battle Across Time at Universal Studios.

CheeseRepair

No please just fucking stop Nat

Lemuel Daher

Yup, I never watch trailers for anything for years now since having had so many movies ruined giving away great plot twists or amazing lines that just MAKE some movies and they put them in trailers to suck you in to go watch it.... when you are already going to watch it anyway.

Ben Curran

yeah T3 is worth a watch and rounds out the storyline. Its a good movie. You're totally right in that you had to watch one before watching 2 for sure.

Ben Curran

I LOVE the directors cut/special edition of T2(I actually bought it on VHS in 1995 when it came out in a 2 tape widescreen collectors edition…the first time I ever got a movie in widescreen on VHS). But generally speaking, special editions are usually a bad idea for reactors unless it can be found on a common streaming service. Trying to sync up your copy of the movie with the reactor is near impossible if you only have the theatrical since it’s constantly going out of sync, and you have no reference or time code to fix it. It just cuts too many fans who want to watch along out(just last month I skipped another reactors full length for “The Hangover” because they did the directors cut). Unless you had someone come in to insert “pause here” alerts or something for the extra scenes, it just adds too many headaches for too many viewers in general in my opinion. (As a side note, it wasn’t that long ago I found out T2 was rated R in the US. It was thankfully rated AA-14 here in Canada on release, or 15 year old me couldn’t have seen it in theatres opening weekend, and that would have been awful).

Todd “Canuck” Schmuck

Some other thoughts: -The helicopter chase was done entirely practically. Yes, even the helicopter flying in between the road and the overpass. They were nuts. -When the Arnold Terminator first pursues John, he's carrying a box of roses that also conceal a shotgun. This is a reference to the band Guns N' Roses. We also hear GNR music when John is working on his bike in the driveway. -I'm so happy that you got to enjoy the twist that Arnold was the good guy. Because not only did many of us that watched the movie decades later have it spoiled, but even countless people watching it when it was released had it spoiled....because the movie trailers STRAIGHT UP TOLD YOU ARNOLD WAS GOOD THIS TIME! AUGHHHH!!!! Worst trailers ever. Seriously, the filmmakers meant it to be a secret twist, but the marketing ruined it.

Nicholas Sulikowski

T3 is worth a watch. IMO it brings the trilogy to a logical conclusion and modernizes it. It also accounts for timeline changes that the first 2 movies caused.

John

Her sister was also used in the scene in the foundry when the terminator mimiced Sarah. There's also an additional scene in the extended version with her sister where they switch Arnold's CPU to learning mode. The scene showed them in a mirror, but it was an open frame with a mirror set on the other side and Linda and her sister were on either side mirroring each other's moves.

John

Please, more Janet Jackson covers.

pedantech

I like Genisys for just being a fun action movie and Dark Fate has more Linda Hamilton. The rest I can live without.

Joe Blankenship

Yeah this is a film that has aged spectacularly. Not just a step in plot from the first one. But the effects still hold up, largely because so much of it is done not just practically, but with the actual real world objects. Like the truck driving off the overpass into the canal wasn't CGI or a miniature. They actually drove a truck into it! And when it came to CGI, they were very conscious of its limitations, and decided that only the T-1000 would be the main effect. And having him be liquid metal worked great with the technology as metal isn't too hard to make look good with CGI. And it's also building off what James Cameron did with the water creature in The Abyss. The T-1000 holds up because the technology could absolutely do that well. I do unfortunately have to add though that, after this point, the franchise never quite hits the same high. I've heard good things about The Sarah Connor Chronicles, though I've never watched it. But the movies are all over the place. And they seem to be constantly making new timelines. Here's a few that I'm aware of, I think: Original Timeline: T1, T2, T3, T Salvation SCC Timeline: T1, T2, T: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Genisys Timeline: T Genisys Dark Fate Timeilne: T1, T2, T: Dark Fate Yeah it's all over the place. Maybe you'll love them. I can't say. But I will say, buckle up.

Nicholas Sulikowski

i grew up in san jose and remember on the news when they were filming that big fight scene where the terminator blows the hell out of the police. it's one of the many massive tech campuses located out there. we saw some behind the scenes stuff way before the movie came out. mostly that bit of that one scene, but it was still cool.

Steve

Yes, there were four more, but none of them ever got close to being as good as T2. Of the remaining sequels, T3: Rise Of The Machines isn't too bad. It at least has something interesting to say about the franchise concepts of fate & destiny. But 4, 5 and 6 are just garbage, not worth wasting any time on.

Patrick Egan

No its not, its garbage and killed the whole Franchise in the first 5 Minutes. Do you really think Natalie is dumb and wouldnt get that? Fucking trolls.

Curaitis

Its always a good film when even Natalie says during the film: "How did they even film this!" you know the film is good xD I wish you would react to Top Gun and Top Gun Maverick to see just how amazing cinematography can be in respect to those movies.

LightsCameraJake

Definitely watch Dark Fate, it is the true Terminator 3.

J B

And that is an issue how? Nat isn't gonna watch all the remaining ones and probably won't care what happens later on in the series.

Navjot Singh

Terminator 3 shows the start of judgement day

David Martin

There are ONLY TWO Terminator Movies. "Trust me." See what I did there?

Powers209

hahahaha. 01:35:30 As we learned in Avengers End Game. Time Travel doesn't work like that. Time traveling into the past makes that your future and you can't change the future because it hasn't happened yet.

Powers209

Yeah. Back in '91 the trailers for the movie were like "Now he's the good guy!" It's still one of the best action movies ever made, but it would have been mind-blowing to have been able to see it not knowing Arnie was the good guy and Robert Patrick the bad guy.

Kevin Mowery

I have to say Edward Furlong did an amazing job in his debut.

Steve

I would vote for TSCC if not for your extremely valid point that it would tank viewership and waste valuable reaction space for Nat. Maybe the best thing we could do is recommend it to other Patreon viewers here to go watch it themselves. Worth the watch if you like the Terminator mythos. Worth the watch just to see Summer Glau.

Mastervodo

Why would nanomachines = liquid metal? Neither the film nor the Terminator Wiki mentions nanomachines. Arnold specifically says "liquid metal," not nanobots. Can it form complex systems or not? It's liquid not because it's a well thought out sci-fi concept, but because of the state of VFX.

Opti_Frog

You can happily end it with 2 and be happy with a solid story Everything else after this just muddys the waters and drops the quality

Nathaniel Castle

Happy Saturday nat got my snacks well coffee , beer and salt and sweet popcorn and I'm all set 🥳 I know this is going to be great 👌 fun little fact the guns and roses song you could be mine that features in this movie well arnnie guess stars in the video to the song 😃ok right let's get into the movie 🍿🍺

Ian

You are very lucky to watch T2 knowing this little, most people go into it already knowing Arnie is good in this one

SuperDuprEgg

Definatly could stop here and be happy but i do think watching the rest of them would be a really fun time. You could honestly watch the last one to come out. I really liked that one. Thought it brought things back in a fun way but also ended it in a nice way again.

Gregory Gould

The only other one worth watching is terminator genesys imo, main reason the rest suck is cause they're not directed by James Cameron, genesys I enjoyed because it calls back to the first two movies alot

dieselbeast

For what it’s worth I adore Dark Fate and think it’s worth watching

Elle

Could put T3 in your back pocket for when you want to do another bad film? I know I'd watch

zak

honestly if you stop here you'll be much happier about this series. this was supposed to be the end, they won, but instead they kept going. personally i consider this the last movie and the rest just reboots

Papi Dillion

Do what you like Nat, but I recommend stopping the franchise here, they just get bad and worse as they go and don't even make sense to the first two movies.

Joshua s. Jackson

Great Reaction Nat! Yeah, you can just stop at these two. One more thing, in that campy 80s action movie mode, you should consider watching Highlander (1986). Love it as it has action and melodrama.

Ernesto

I believe Cameron also says in the commentary that it is really Robert Patrick running that fast in the early foot chase.

REDR58

Yet he WAS involved with Dark Fate and that film just vomits all over T2 with astonishingly bad execution.

REDR58

Watching this movie again, particularly the ending, only further reemphasizes how offensively bad Dark Fate is, how it sublimely craps all over the story in this movie and kicks it to the curb. What a wasted opportunity DF was. That Cameron had his hands all over that particular element of DF is just really sad. T3 is a stroke of genius compared to DF. But the story should just have ended here with T2.

REDR58

And that is an issue how? She is not gonna watch all and probably won't care what they do with the franchise further down the line.

Navjot Singh

Correct. You have seen all of the Terminator films you need to see. A very fun rewatch for me. Thank you

Brian

Koda sensing a terminator 😁

Michael G. Munz

Are you nuts!? All of us T2 fans prefer the Theatrical. The directors cut has too much fluff and stuff that was put on the cutting room floor for a reason. It totally ruins the pacing of the film too.

Thomas Snyder

As a huge terminator fan who agrees the first 2 movies are all that matters. I was actually a fan of SCC. It had kind of an x-files vibe to it where Sarah, John and the Terminator went on different kind of missions to stop skynet. It's not for everyone but for what it is I thought it was well done.

Thomas Snyder

YES!! So glad you watched this! Some fun facts.... Linda Hamilton as well as the actor that played the cop in the psychiatric hospital who walked on the floor over the T-1000 both have twins. They used both of them in the shot where the cop gets killed at the vending machine and the shot at the end with Sarah and the T-1000 pretending to be Sarah. Linda Hamilton forgot to put in hearing protection during the elevator scene but didn't want to stop the scene and she sadly lost some of her hearing. The helicopter going under the freeway overpass was a real scene, no special effects. The camera operators on the movie refused to shoot it over how dangerous the stunt was so James Cameron operated the camera himself for that scene. The mall scene was actually a few malls. The inside shot with Arnold and the box of Roses which is a callback to the soundtrack of the movie which features the band Guns N' Roses was filmed in the then enclosed Santa Monica Mall by the 3rd St. Promenade. It's since of course been converted to an open air mall. The parking garage shot where John escapes on his dirt bike was the Northridge Fashion Center mall and I believe the hallway shootout might have been the Sherman Oaks Galleria but I'm not 100% on that one. The biker bar was a real biker bar by Sunland and Hanson Dam it's since been bulldozed but at the time they used some of the real bar patrons for the scene to add to the authenticity. The desert shots with the Joshua Trees in the background was actually the palmdale/lancaster area. Also, for 12 years I've wore the same model Ray Bans as Arnold cause this is my favorite action movie. :-)

Thomas Snyder

Nanomachines, Son.

AJ Miller

I put my vote in for TSCC. It got cut short unfortunately but I still think it is worth the watch as a better follow up to T2.

Chris (darkwater)

And Sarah Conner is one of the best final girls ever. Ellen Ripley level

adrianR31

There's a documentary on Disney+ about Industrial Light and Magic and they go into quite a bit of detail about this movie. A must watch for anyone into movie magic. ILM started it all

adrianR31

The helicopter flying under the foot bridge was very real and very dangerous. The cameraman refused to shoot it so Cameron had to shoot it himself.

Jonathan Flick

I'm torn about recommending Terminator 3. It explores some interesting concepts you sound interested in but the execution isn't great. You can tell James Cameron wasn't involved.

Jonathan Flick

I really want to see her react to Commando (1985)!

David Sumner

It gets retconned in both Genisys and Dark Fate so there's no real reason.

David Sumner

6? What do you mean there are only 2 Terminator movies. ONLY 2!!!! And 1 Highlander if anyone asks.

Christopher Gray

There are a ton of Terminator movies, but none of them are essential after this one. They end up dealing with a bunch of alternate timelines and whatnot, which is catnip for me, but even so, they're mostly not very good. One thing that was very good was the series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, starring Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) and Summer Glau (Firefly), which had two seasons on Fox, but then got canceled at a really unfortunate place in the story.

Kevin Mowery

Next Arnold movie needs to be Jingle All the Way for Christmas ;)

David McDonald

If you ever had the time, or if we could pretend it would get more than 4 views on youtube, I would SUPER HIGHLY recommend The Sarah Connor Chronicles. That show is (aside from the fact that there are even more terminators) the most faithful sequel to T2, and tried to make sure to keep the themes and atmosphere alive. Lena Headey was a fantastic Sarah Connor, Firefly's Summer Glau has a major role that plays to her strengths. Sadly, it also has in common with Firefly that Fox completely mishandled marketing and weekly timeslots, so they found an excuse to cancel it after 2 Seasons; and the first Season was cut short by the Writer's Strike back then. That makes it all sound bad, BUT they work around it for the season switch pretty well AND it means this isn't an 8-season marathon you have to sit through. As for the movies... The show specifically retcons 3 out of the timeline, 4 is set in the future and largely pointless and forgettable, 5 only has a partial retelling of T1 going for it before going completely off the rails... but 6 was alright, though I say that after many many years of forgettable Terminator sequels, not 5 minutes after watching T2.

Shen V

Back to back "tweests" after the Stranger Things yesterday!

Ben Wheeler

Most fans believe that 1 and 2, the James Cameron written/directed ones, are really the the only canonical ones. The others are just cash grabs from the studio who just can't let the IP go to waste. Some are decent, some are not. But none live up to the first two

Jomero

There's a full helicopter car chase in this movie! With real vehicles!! I would say even Fury Road struggles to compete with this film; Miller used more composite shots than you would think whilst these stunts are continuous and unmodified. Everything has set up and weight. Also a note on Schwarzenegger here; he is perfect as the terminator. The man embodies this role through sheer presence. The same could be said of Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman. Not a great actor but she owns the part. Honestly Nat is right to stop here. I wish I could have done that, 3 has charm and strong moments but everything falls far from this film

George Baxter

I have seen all the terminator films and i agree that you should stop aber seeing 1 and 2. If you really love the concept of these movies you can watch the others (preferedly 3 and dark fate) but 1 and 2 are the only must see film of the series.

Andreas Sommer

I think I know what you're referring to but that element never bothered me. I don't feel like it doesn't work. I see that element as more of a slight twist, than anything (if I'm thinking about what you're thinking about)

Sean Maher

I was with you all the way up till that last one 😄

Brian

I honestly think T3 would be right up her alley. She tends to like more light hearted stuff that doesn't take itself too seriously. I think T3's reputation has just been tarnished by the super hard-core fans from when it first came out. In 2022, it's actually pretty fun and holds up better than a lot of other movies from thar time period.

Sean Maher

Yes! Oh I love that look in the thumbnail... lol

Mannygogou

I actually like it too (and Salvation, though I'm gonna be dodging stones for that one).

Drew

Absolutely. T3’s “that” as you call it is arguably the most important moment in the franchise, irrespective of what your opinion is on T3.

Anthony

I prefer this version.

Logan Kerlee

NO...... There are not any more Terminator films........ The internet is lying to you...... Really........ I swear. And you will thank me for telling you that. Just like there are only 3 Indiana Jones films, 2 Alien films, and no such thing as a Lord of the Rings television show. You're welcome.😉👍

Brian Jones

Oh and I've already commented on which one was my favorite and why - but I guess I'll go over it again here. I enjoy the first far more. The violence, the action, the terror just felt a lot more genuine in that movie. You weren't scared in this one. Neither was I. I watched both as a youngster and that's how I felt. I still feel that way, now. Though, as a kid I enjoyed this one far more because of the interactions between The Terminator and John. I didn't see my dad a whole lot as a boy, so I guess that I sought that sort of connection and seeing John and The Terminator together really hit me in my core I guess. Also, at the end I was a sobbing mess as a boy. I still massively get teary eyed when he's lowered into the steel.

Logan Kerlee

Good one, I think they could make a movie on its sister ship, the Brittanic which also sunk tragically in ww1 due to hitting a mine out of nowhere.

Samuel Bruce

Absolutely enjoyed this reaction Natalie! You've now watched my top two favorite movies, so I'm satisfied. :D Thanks for that! Now, the next movie that I'm going to recommend is The Crow. If you haven't watched it, please react to it. It's an amazing action film with a lot of heart. It hits you emotionally just as this one did - loads of action yet you care about the characters. Though, The Crow's story is VERY different. Anywho, that's my next recommendation to have thrown on the polls. I won't be upset if it doesn't show up there. It's definitely more of a Halloween movie (NOT HORROR though). So maybe next year around then we can watch that. :) We'll see!

Logan Kerlee

They made a sequel to Titanic, but it sank at the box office.

Ed Green

Pretty much 100% agree with you Myles. I enjoy the first far more but the second is a lot more fun to watch.

Logan Kerlee

I'd steer clear but that's me. I'll watch whatever but that isn't a show that I'd recommend.

Logan Kerlee

If possible, do give T3 a try. I think they should have stopped at that but they kept continuing. T3 has a nice ending that ties it all up if you ask me. Definitely not as good as T2 but still worth a watch.

Navjot Singh

Who else always thinks of Budnick from Salute Your Shorts when they watch this?

Joe Blankenship

I want to suggest Dark Fate again. I know most people don't like it, but I personally love it and it's a direct sequel to this one.

Darchangel

Fun fact, the woman who plays Johns foster mother is the same actress as Vasquez in Aliens. Next up for an Arnold movie, Predator?

Edgar Guzman

I have to vent just a little about the T-1000, because as much as i enjoy Robert Patrick's serial killer robot performance this thing makes no sense at all and really breaks my suspension of belief. "It's a mimetic polyalloy." What? "Liquid metal." Thanks. That explains nothing. The T-1000 cannot mimic any complex systems, which may have moving parts or chemicals, like guns or explosives. So how can it see or hear? Or even move at all? You need moving parts to move. You need eyes or cameras (pretty complex systems) to see. How does a pool/blob of metal, that is liquid at room temperature, form shapes at all? The T-800 Arnold model is more or less self-explanatory. CPU, endoskeleton, skin. The T-1000 has none of that. It's characteristics and appearance is just science-magic based on the kind of special effects they had just learned to create during James Cameron's The Abyss. Say what you will about T3, but the T-X makes a lot more sense than the T-1000.

Opti_Frog

They paid cameron to use his name in dark fate. His contributions were minimal.

jamie jones

“The cop gives me major white supremacist vibes” HAHAHA yeah about that… 😂

Daniel Molina

Based on this reaction i think Nat should watch Terminator 3. It's not as good as the previous two, but nowhere near as bad as the most recent two. And it has... that. You know what i'm talking about, and it's almost worth seeing for that alone.

Opti_Frog

Fun fact for you Natalie, you mentioned there were alot of truck scenes in both Terminator movies well...James Cameron actually drove trucks for a living before making his big break in movie production. Maybe a nod from his previous blue collar roots? Ahh! I can't wait to watch this one with you tonight. I'm an '86 baby and remember picking this out just from the VHS cover sleeve and my mom renting this when it came out from a convenient store. I was maybe 6 or 7 when it was available for home viewing and just mesmerized. Still one of my all time favorites. If you really want to see the bombs launch, you gotta watch the third installment of the Terminator franchise. It's not great, but ok if you wanted more from the series....however I think the best ending is in the Director's cut of T2. If you want a great 90's Action/Comedy, I'd look no further than to another Arnold and Cameron collaboration...True Lies. Featuring Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton Tia Carrere and Art Malik.

Stephen Lewis

I agree T3 is a good movie and worth a watch

christopher brown

It's hard to talk about why I disagree without giving spoilers to those who haven't watched them. But I don't agree that T3 is a conclusion - it's more like 'one possible future, from the audience's point of view, I don't know tech stuff'

Ed Green

If Nat can have a reaction to The Last Airbender on her channel, she can definitely have T3 Rise of the Machines and Dark Fate, which are significantly better, even though still bad overall. Salvation and Genisys may be another order of bad, however. But there's only one way for Nat to find out.

Ed Green

Agreed, T3 is underrated. Not as good as T2, but quite worth it as a "conclusion" to the trilogy IMO.

Dor

Watch them all Nat, I mean the rest are god awful and only get worse as they go but that doesn’t mean the reactions to them will be terrible.

Ryan

People will tell you to stop at this movie. Ignore them. Stop after the 3rd movie. Judging by the movies you enjoy, you'd like Terminator 3 a lot! There is a lot more humour and it fleshes out more of the timeline, including the actual apocalypse. A lot of very hard core fans dislike it because there are parts that don't take itself too seriously. I disagree with them. I think those are the reasons why the 3rd one is so much fun. Great character development, great action, great drama, really funny and ties everything in a nice bow. Please give it a try!

Sean Maher

There are only 2 Terminator movies. (The rest of them do not exist) 😉

Jiří Werner

Man! That was satisfying! Very good job Nat! Truly a crowd pleaser watching these two Terminator movies. We wanted you to watch the sequel. Check. Watch it soon after the first. Check. Watch the theatrical cut like most suggested. Check. It was great watching you get so excited over all the callbacks and lines from the first movie. I knew you would be loving the comedy and more light-hearted bits with John and Arnold. Plus, it was just great to watch your reaction for the reveal that Arnold was the good guy. Also cool that you saw that the same actor played Silberman in T2 as T1. Don' t know if you caught that Vasquez from Aliens was John's Stepmom in this one. Also - trivia - the round cop at the asylum who got speared with the coffee? His twin played the T-1000 in that scene. It's always great watching you watching a movie that surprises you and makes you laugh a lot. Almost as much as the ones that make you cry yourself into a puddle. 100% today Nat. Loved it.

Mastervodo

Galen, as much as i dislike the other sequels- put your tin foil hat away

jamie jones

Yeah, there is really no reason to watch the other ones, even thought I do enjoy Terminator Salvation

HeyItsSuper

I'll just add my vote now to stop here. Don't bother with the others. 4 is the least objectionable IMHO, but still not nearly as good as T2

Mike Adams

Man baby is acting like a man baby.

Nathan Smith

Many people have already said it and I'll reiterate: all the movies after T2 degrade in quality and are not worth it. Oddly enough though, you commented about wanting to see the actual Judgment Day when Skynet becomes self-aware at that would be T3 so *maybe* watch that out of morbid curiosity (the CGI in T2 is much better than in T3, btw). If you want to continue with Terminator as a franchise, the Sarah Connor Chronicles was a early 2000s TV show which did a great job expounding on other time travel operations Skynet conducted to ensure its own creation. It's highly regarded and definitely better than the subsequent films.

Sean

There are four more Terminator movies, but James Cameron only had involvement with the last one. 3 and 4 were attempts to follow this one, 5 was a sort of attempted reboot, and 6 (Dark Fate) scrapped all of those and had Cameron involved in the story, though fans didn't like it much.

Drew

Do not bother watching any of the other Terminator films. These two are the definitive versions. Both are great films in different ways but I personally prefer the tone and atmosphere of the first one. It's a perfect 80s slasher. T2 is a great sequel though. I love the evolution of Sarah Conner in T2 but John Conner gets very grating by the end.

Myles Away

FYI, the Sarah Connor in the nightmare scene (the one with the young child) is played by Linda Hamilton's twin sister.

Ido Gordin

Go to The Sarah Connor Chronicles instead :)

Chris (darkwater)

So who shat in your coffee this wonderful day my good sir?

Philippe Dessaints

Absolutely stop at 2. Some of the other films have some good moments, but none of them are good films taken as a whole.

Gavin Kinsey

Tom Arnold tweeted the cover of a script recently that seems to be a sequel tv series of some kinda.

djKENTO

Watch the video...

Boomcity

It is, however, Cameron's preferred version. Though I prefer the longer versions.

REDR58

I feel like James Cameron is a master of the sequel, it'll be interesting to see how the Avatar sequel is here in a few weeks, I'm just not feeling the vibe though.... also where is ours sequels to True Lies and Titanic.... lol jk

Samuel Bruce

Conversely, it's great that she decided to watch the one that's available to subscribers on HBOMax and for rent.

Erik Stevenson

Guess which sentence I stopped reading your reply at…

djKENTO

Really sad you watched the theatrical cut, you are really missing out.

Curaitis

Dark Fate is the third best!? Really? Crappy Story, the disrespectful treatment of the Story from T1 and T2 and killing off the whole Franchise in the first 5 Minutes is considered good!? Being superficially woke by replacing a main character with a female lead that is completely unbelievable is considered good!? Considering a bad Movie good just because the corporate Wokebusiness in Hollywood tells you so doesnt make you woke, it makes you look stupid. Woke Social Media really makes People like you mindless drones without the capability to think for yourself. Being woke is more then just saying a Movie is good because of its changing its Plot or Characters to represent Diversity.

Curaitis

I honestly never watched the sarah conner chronicles. Dunno why, maybe i was scared of it breaking my heart yet again. Plus im always hesitant to start a fox series as they cancel them so fast. Ill always be mad about firefly.

jamie jones

Awesome! Thanks

Rich

Fun fact: The nuclear blast they show in the movie has been called the most accurate portrayal of a nuclear bomb in cinema history!

Danishprince

So terminator 3 has what you want to see in terms of the robot uprising. It’s a fun movie but not as epic or as smart as the first two. As for Arnold having a stunt double, the version you watched is the 3D re-release from a few years ago. They digitally replaced all the faces of the stunt doubles. That bike jump stunt in particular really gives it away in the original cut. As for the rest of the films: Terminator Salvation shows the future war and stars Christian Bale Terminator Genisys is the worst of them, going back to the original film and changing its story. It leaves plot threads wide open which are then ignored by Terminator Dark Fate which replaces Terminator 3 as the the 3rd film in the story and brings back Linda Hamilton. It’s probably the 3rd best in the franchise.

djKENTO

theatrical! I talk about it in the video before we start watching

Natalie Gold

137 min

Natalie Gold

what is the run time please

TuvixLogic

"maybe i shouldnt sing that to my audience" HAHAHA im so dead

Arturo Leon

Theatrical cut

Arronax06

Theatrical cut

Arronax06

Nice. I cant wait to watch this.

Philip Davetas

For anyone wondering, it's the theatrical cut.

Arronax06

The one on HBO Max has a runtime of 2hr 17 min.

Jomero

Happy Feature Friday, Natalie! 😊 This is one of my all-time favorite movie sequels. Right up there with "The Empire Strikes Back" and more recently "Top Gun: Maverick". And this is the best, in my opinion, in the Terminator series. The third one is decent, and I didn't care too much for the other ones. I think this movie was the perfect way to end it. Definitely looking forward to watching this later this evening. It's my Friday tradition to order in pizza, and watch whatever you're reacting to. Have a great day and weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Randee Carreno

I haven't watched either of the terminator movies yet either 😂 Maybe I will now!

Yani Dodge

Fun fact this movie has less than 20 vfx shots in the film so most of the best effects are practical like the t1000 being split apart and his head being blown in half were all practical, even his hooks were just sleeves they put on Robert Patrick the only fx shots were his morphing everything else including the t800 were practical

Night King01

...........Almost every single Patreon comment on T-1 was like: ''Hey Ultimate Cut/Director's Cut'' , but sure ''AlL tHe ReAsEaRcH i DoNe wAs LiKe ''HeY NO DC'' ....... Yeah sure whatever.... The TV-MA argument is also BullllllShit, because DD and Jessica Jones (which she's done) BOTH (along with all the ABC/Netflix Marvel Shows) ARE TV-MA. Neither T2's Ultimate Edition, OR Director's Cut has ANYWHERE close to those shows' ''Mature/Violent/Graphic, or even Sexual content, but again; shwhatevs, I guess......

Diiirk706

I'm curious what you thought of the SCC?

Michael G. Munz

The perfect sequel. So much better than the original. Dont do any of the other sequels. The story was supposed to end with T2 and we’ll all just pretend that’s true.

jamie jones

Is this theatrical or the other?

Rich

This is easily one of my favorite movies of all time

Brian E

Woot i love this movie. This is one of those occasions where I think the sequel is better than the original. And thank you for letting us know how you watch it. It's super helpful for older movies like this that have been released several times.

Haughtbreaker Nic

I'm not sure but if you look at the run time of the reaction or when she starts the movie, you can compare the run times to their versions of the movie and find out that way. I'm working on that myself xD I'm assuming theatrical release off the bat though or which ever one is on HBO max since that's where she watched it

LightsCameraJake

Saweeeeet! James Cameron has a knack for making sequels that meet or exceed the originals. Fun facts: Edward Furlong was not an actor before this movie. He was just a kid that the casting director saw in public and thought he had the right look and attitude for John Connor. For someone who had never acted beforehand, I thought he did great. Robert Patrick focused on learning to fire a gun without blinking as the shots went off. People naturally and unconsciously blink when doing so because of the flinchingly-loud bang. But a machine wouldn't do that. He also focused on not showing any signs of breathing or looking fatigued when running/sprinting.

Jomero

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh; which version is this............??

Diiirk706

Woo Hoo! Been waiting all week.

Mastervodo

We're not gonna make it, are we? Humans, I mean. . It's in your nature to destroy yourselves.

Joe Blankenship

well alright. let the fun begin.

Jack Burton

Happy Friday Feature Nat. You said You'd be back, and you are 😄 Been looking forward to watching this along with you today 🤗 I really enjoyed watching your reaction Nat and seeing you discover all classic phrases and moments. It was great to see your reaction when the 2 terminators met up and you find out who was the good guy. Arnie was famously paid $15 million dollars, and only says around 700 words in this movie, but he is a man of action after all 😄 I loved your quote "This has been a big day for you guys" 😄 That was awesome Nat. Thanks for a really amazing reaction today, and as always, thanks for all your work this week. I'm going to catch up with your Stranger Things video and your 2nd Pokemon stream at the weekend as I've not had a chance to see them yet, so I'm looking forward to them. Have a brilliant weekend Nat 💛
