Help me pick a sci-fi flick!

Comments

Put "Predestination" on your radar

Fernando

Voted for interstellar. But, Predator is also great.

Christopher Holubik

May I suggest something? Violet Evergarden is one of the best series ever, and I think you would really enjoy it. I hope we get a poll for that soon, because it seems right up your alley and is one of the best series I have ever watched.... Everyone I have shown it to is amazed and touched by it. A definite recommendation to check out in the future!

Fan of movies3594

I voted for Interstellar and loved when I seen to the overwhelming vote's for this movie. It's great you're going to love it😀

Paul Madill

it is science fiction and every movie is a drama.

Kozmo

I wouldnt say Interstellar is science fiction. its all theoretically possible, but i guess thats what makes it a great film. More of a drama tho imo.

Cripkie

New Patreon member 😁 Interstellar is one of my all time favorites.

Thomas Mulholland

Predator and Planet of the Apes are classics that simply need to be watched but Ex Machina is the best film on the list. Haven't seen Interstellar yet.

REDR58

The Adam Project. * hint hint nudge nudge * Mark Ruffalo is playing a role straight out of Endgame, there.

Ivari Tölp

Funny enough interstellar is the only one of these 4 i dont own , guess imma have to rent it this week

Rey

I can never be on the winning side of polls lol all great movies imo but planet of the apes is something id like to see her reaction to

FateMalone

Ex Machina super relevant for 2022. Interstellar better movie though.

Shawn E Mercado

Ex Machina for sure

RonJon

What movie do you think is the best on this list?

Jack Burton

I agree Interstellar will likely get a good reaction and a shit load of view from Nat. Ex Machina is excellent though, check it out

Martin

I really don't get it; why is Interstellar so popular?

Rudewalrus

@ Daniel - Yeah, I would prefer a dictatorship.........with me as dictator, of course.

Richard Maurer

one day planet of the apes will win :') kinda hoping she just decides to do it since she has had it in a poll so many times

Colter

Got a new TV for Black Friday and Interstellar was the first thing I watched on it. I don't know if I can handle it again so soon! :'(

Molecule

I am surprised that Interstella won, and by so much, but happy as I only watched it in theaters once.

Ernesto

Yall picking Interstellar(i did too) cause yall wanna see Nat pour her eyes out ^.^

James

On Nat's poll, that's a badge of honor: It means you know that movies existed before you were born, and that it wasn't their fault.

Eric Janssen

I feel ya brother..

TexasNight

Looks like I'm in dead last group again. Hope springs eternal.

Garrick Smalley

Opti_Frog - completely agree with your post and can only add this - CGI is here to stay, for better or worse, so either get used to it or stop watching movies - and stop complaining about them.

Richard Maurer

Neither age nor the kind of VFX used determines if a movie is good. If you complain about a movie being CGI-heavy and looking "realistic" then you make the same mistake as someone who complains about practical effects looking "fake". It seems to be you who's got a "fanboy persecution complex," or at least a very thin skin. I love both POTA -68 and Rise -11.

Opti_Frog

God its all the movies i want in competition with each other lol, i gotta go ex machina now , one of my favorites

Rey

When I seen Interstellar, I had to read the title again to see if it was a base movie list. I'll say I'm not a Nolan fan and this was the movie that made me realize that fact.

Powers209

Nnnno: If you bothered to watch the old ones (despite the fact that eww, makeup is so PHYSICAL!), you would have spotted Rise for a flat-out remake of the ‘72 Conquest of the POTA, with a quick screenwriter erasing of everything that happened in Escape From the POTA. Battle for the POTA managed to provided the New series with TWO other remakes, since they couldn’t get enough of Woody Harrelson playing the Severn Darden villain. Which is, since you asked, what the discussion is about: It helps to.actually know this stuff.

Eric Janssen

It gets a lot of things right but sometimes gets really stupid.

Opti_Frog

What even is this discussion? The recent trilogy is a prequel that complements the original. Not a remake. Rise is one of the best prequels ever made, and it kind of assumes you have seen the original.

Opti_Frog

Ex Machina is one of my favorite movies ever, simply for its aesthetic. It has one of my favorite stories as well, but the visuals of the movie are insane.

Nathan Elkin

True, in the 70’s, they couldn’t afford neat stuff to show to 10-yo’s, so they had to make all their pre-Lucas films into pretentious dystopian stories in the hopes of selling themselves to the grownups, and snagging a few technical Oscars for cheap validation. Speaking of which, gee, I’ll bet she’ll enjoy Chris Nolan’s work on Interstellar! 😛

Eric Janssen

Yes Eric, that is correct.

Richard Maurer

It would have been cool for Nat to do Predator, especially since she just finished with the Terminator movies. Predator is a solid movie, even today. Holds up very well. But - really, Ex Machina is the most cerebral of this bunch. Interstellar - lets scratch that off so we can get to some other movies we all want to watch. And really - here's an idea - Watch all 4 of these in the order in which they are picked! All are good.

Mastervodo

She has seen it :)

Danishprince

Man interstellar is in my top 10 movies ever I’m very thankful that is winning. Although all these are great

Alan

How do I vote for Ex Machina, Interstellar, and Planet of the Apes all at once?

Nicholas Sulikowski

I have another oft missed sci fi action movie suggesstion for you Nat,the movie is called Soldier and I won't spoil anything for you with a summery. Altho its probably more action then sci fi so maybe not what you are looking for at the moment

Athenor

Yeah, and who cares if Rod Serling adapted the author's original work, it should look really cool and REALISTIC! Who wants to see a movie where you can see how it was made, I want to see Andy Serkis display his detailed craft of jumping around in ping-pong balls!

Eric Janssen

For next poll: ARRIVAL Please please do Arrival at some time Nat. It’s such a beautifully well done film.

Elle

Predator is a great action film but this being a Science Fiction poll I wouldn't vote for it against the others. Bad grouping for it unfortunately.

Myles Away

I'll go with it, man. Sometimes things just aren't fair.

Philip Davetas

I would also prefer Predator of this list. Ah well

Kelvin

I'm with you. I think the "I've never seen it" vibe might also include the audience. Things that are newer beat that which is older.

Michael Butler

The bear! AAAAAAAHHHH!

Mastervodo

I do think her reaction to Interstellar will be interesting but I agree that Predator is almost a must, it inspired so so so many bad copies. Like 30 years of direct to video stuff that would line blockbuster walls

blkmage

Exactly. I don’t understand these polls sometimes. Just goes to show you that Democracy doesn’t work lol

Daniel Green

I can’t believe you people aren’t voting for Predator. The greatest action film of them all. I’ve been waiting for Nat to react to it for over two years. So disappointed. Especially considering Natalie likes Die Hard (as we all do) and Predator was made by the same director of Die Hard at the peak of his powers one year earlier.

Daniel Green

This comment is accurate af

Joshua Gardiner

I've been wanting to see Interstellar for a long time, so this is as good a reason as any to go ahead and rent it when you see it.

Riolkin

Agree. Most just in response to the reply comment and became a bit defensive. It's really hard to compare. Same with sports. Who would win Jordan or LeBron. They all have their pros & cons. I think the Dark knight & Dawn of the P of the A were both spectacular movies in their own right given the context of the time and genre. I will defend that. But you are right in what you are saying.

Nick

I’ve seen you regret not having tissues handy, so I’ll just say, come prepared if Interstellar wins.

bostonate

Random rant here: generations are an awful way to view pop culture. 15-20 years is a verrry long time in pop culture. The youngest millennial 'kids' are in their mid 20s and the oldest, well into their 40s. Gen Z's already in its 20s. I'm a late Gen Xer and probably have more in common with older Millennials born in the early to mid 80s than I do older, fellow Gen Xers born in the 60s Also as much as younger folks could appreciate older movies more, older people can be overly nostalgic.

Ken

Just because somethings older doesn't necessarily make it better. while the 68' original was pretty good, the sequels don't really hold up. The new trilogy is just better and the CGI is better than the ape costumes, which weren't really that good even in their own time.

Richard Maurer

lol - hot monkeys.

Richard Maurer

Predator above all else on this list!

David Crabtree

Interstellar and Ex Machina are two of my favourites. Both great for different reasons.

Myles Away

Yeah exactly. Not the over exaggerated how good some movies were in the past because of nostalgia and gate keeping movies because "kids these days don't know what good movies are" and only I and people who are older can know & appreciate good movies because somehow cgi means bad while ignoring the fact that miniatures, camera tricks, & post film editing/manipulation is just cgi when they didn't have cgi to use. I also love that Nolan is being criticized for over using cgi and a movie that has a man playing a life like monkey is also criticized for cgi even though a bunch of real sets & practical effects were used besides the whole making a realistic monkey appear on screen. But you're probably right clearly people in a monkey mask is the only way movies should be done.

Nick

There was the No-relation ‘01 Tim Burton one, which was so awful, the New series was done as a “do-over” when the producer who wanted the Burton version wasn’t amused at what he got. 😠

Eric Janssen

“the Dark Knight of the series”? Oh, you mean the CGI-heavy 00’s one overpraised by Millennial kids who only watch movies they were alive to see play theaters, and then go into fanboy persecution complexes that the better known 60’s versions somehow “shamed” them before the pretentious new version “got it right”? 😛

Eric Janssen

All of them!

Jay Robert

Interstellar is one of the my fav films of all time. Excited for you to watch it!

Diggy49

Which other ones were there? The Tim Burton one? Was the new trilogy one of them?

Philip Davetas

If you mean the 1968 Planet of the Apes, I’m voting. 😎. Please clarify.

Eric Janssen

I think that was mostly due to the relatively unconvincing prosthetic effects for the Terminator, but Predator one still looks solid.

REDR58

How is PREDATOR not kinging this beast? Especially with PREY out this year? I've never watched INTERSTELLAR, but I guess I'll have to.

Philip Davetas

My own opinion but I think interstellar is a highly overrated film.

PickettsChargingPort

Please I beg you! Do your Interstellar reaction in IMAX! I'm kidding, obviously, but I am warning you the score is phenomenal... Oh and it's loud, like, really loud.

Walter Lopez

Instead of Planet you should do the new Ape Trilogy. Specifically Dawn. The Dark Knight of the series.

Nick

In recognition of what chatGPT looks like it will usher in to our world, I really hope you pick Ex Machina.

Leenis

Is this the classic planet of the apes from like the 70s and predator from the 80sm

Elisa H.

That movie had no right to be that funny.

Jordan Love

Yeah I’m sure I’ve just seen a similar reactor react to it before mixed with her saying she’s seen it before but my mind is playing tricks on me lol

Christopher

Ohhhh yeeesssss!! Ex Machina is getting closer and closer in each Poll! Thank you Natalie you truly are the best!! Love love love this channel!

More Batteries

Maybe start putting potential rewatches in polls of their own? No reason to compete with first-time watches imo

sarCC

yeah those monkeys are HOT

Martin

^this, Step Brothers rules

Joe Blankenship

Get the tissues ready.

Joe Blankenship

Lifelong fan of the Predator franchise but you'll find Ex Machina and Interstellar much more interesting. Both top-tier sci-fi films. The new Planet of the Apes trilogy is amazing as well.

Tucci

I thought Nat previously said she watched Interstellar before? Nat should give Tenet a shot instead if the choice is going to be a Nolan film.

Saifu

Nooo I don't understand how Ex Machina keeps losing and interstellar is winning

Vincent Valentin

Love Interstellar, definitely deserves a correct screen and experience to take it in. But I would also suggest Ex Machina as a second reaction to follow. One of my favorites.

Brandon Corcoran

So planet of the apes, the original is actually very good still. And speaks a lot to the racial tensions at the times, overall has aged well. The other ones aren't as good for sure. I would also recommend the remake/new ones to Nat more past the first original one tbh. But. Doesn't look like it's winning regardless xD

Adam Block

Yeah I wasn't sure which one she was referring to as well so I picked another option. I really like the 2011 trilogy.

Lisa Tosti

I assume it’s the one with James Franco I never saw the old ones myself

Narutoanime16

Interstellar is one of Nolan’s most interesting films but I’m not a huge fan, would rather see you react to Ex Machina. And I’m assuming Planet of the Apes is meant to be Rise? If that’s the case that would be my pick because that trilogy is one of the best mainstream blockbuster trilogies of my lifetime, so I’m disappointed to see it losing so badly.

Razor Bikini

Been waiting for Interstellar for a long time. It came up on multiple polls but didn't succeed enough. Finally

Dominykas Veiveris

Interstellar is fantastic, but Ex Machina is more interesting. It's more of a psychological thriller in a sci-fi setting.

tezster

Which Planet of the Apes series are you watching??? If it's the newer one I would vote for that, may be even the older ones. Just unsure which ones you mean?

Adam Block

Rewatches beating out first time reactions?? Has everyone who voted interstellar never seen the other three choices?

Kyle

I may be misremembering, but I thought she had mentioned she had seen the movie already, so it wouldn't necessarily be a first time reaction.

tezster

With Planet of the Apes you need to specify which one. There is the original 1968 one which still holds up as a classic. There is the 2001 abomination that should be forgotten forever. Then there is the newer trilogy which starts with Rise of the Planet of the Apes from 2011. You really can't go wrong between the 1968 original and the 2011 one. I think the original would give you a great start on the story from the new trilogy but it isn't absolutely necessary.

JayF

Predator!!!!!

Daniel Green

I swear I have a Mandela Effect situation where I've watched Interstellar with Natalie already, every time I see it in a poll I wonder why she keeps putting in a movie I've already seen her watch.

Christopher

I guess we'll have to get the somewhat overrated Interstellar out of the way to get to Ex Machina

Richard Maurer

Ex Machina will always get my vote.

JayyDTR

It is time

Jerry Gonzalez

Rewatches should be on their own poll, not mixed with first time reactions. Ex Machina gets my vote. Predator follows closely behind.

Greg S.

They're all great

El Mémé

Totally agree on Ex Machina

Scott Dorr

I had to go with Predator. Not only is it a fun movie, but it’ll set up for yo to eventually watch Prey, which was fantastic.

Patrick Egan

I’m going with predator it won’t win but it’s an amazing classic

Nathaniel Castle

Ex Machina is easily the best of the bunch, but it looks like you will be watching Interstellar again. Hope Ex Machina ends up on another list in the future.

Brian Jones

Oblivion lol

Darchangel

Was kinda hoping Starship Troopers would be on here, if you haven't seen it already. Lol

Chris Mcbrayer

If you’re gonna do planet of the apes u should do the new trilogy

Jay

Voted for Ex Machina, but I guess every Nolan film wins the polls.

K.N.

Because watching Interstellar on a tiny screen on a plane doesn't really give the proper experience :)

Danishprince

Fair fair; her T-1 reaction was pretty trash/frustrating, I expect the same with Preds TBH, still wanna see it though... Ex Machina out of all of these is her best choice, and it's actually reeeeally good (So is Predator, but I digress), but here we are...

Diiirk706

She has but it was years ago onboard a plane on those tiny screens :)

Danishprince

Eggggggggggg Zach Tlee.....

Diiirk706

It's not a criticism of the movie. I'm saying it's not going to match up with her taste. I'd expect lots of loud, uncomfortable laughter at things that aren't supposed to be funny.

Ken

She's already seen interstellar. This would be a rewatch. Why is it winning? 🙃🙃🙃

LightsCameraJake

Interstellar is already overrated traaaaaaaaaash, and she's seen it to boot apparently..............wow............

Diiirk706

Well, it looks like Interstellar is a runaway winner, and it's a terrific movie, but I had to vote for "Ex Machina." It's SO different, Nat, and so unique. I really think you'd be stunned and impressed by it, and I'd love to witness your reaction. And there's always time for Interstellar later!

William 1611

Naw. It's Magical. So is 2. And both are much needed to watch before Prey.

Diiirk706

I really want to go with ex machina, but I feel like I need to vote interstellar.

FullMetal B

Arghhhh.... Ex Machina. Lol.

Brian H

I just rewatched it last night

Thomas Richter

Omgggg interstellar

Olivia Carney

You have a great weekend as well!

Joshua Kon

I suspect she'll think it's corny...which it is...but she won't find the charm

Ken

The fact nats already seen interstellar be it ages ago Id much rather see a first time reaction so the apes get my vote

Ian

Predator is more of a action thriller sci-fi.

Thomas Richter

Please watch Step Brothers, such an iconic comedy

Len

I think she has seen it once on a plane. Which is a horrible way to watch that movie

Joshua Kon

I agree. But maybe Interstellar is the best choice in terms of reaction.

Michael Butler

You really haven’t seen interstellar? I doubt it

Modders

Happy Saturday, Natalie! 😊 Great movie choices foe this poll. "Interstellar" immediately got my vote. Have a great day today! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Randee Carreno

Interstellar is one of my FAVORITE MOVIES 😊 ex machina is REALLY GOOD but not quite as thought provoking for me

Taylor Orwick

Planet of the Apes losing again already 😭💔

Jamie A-H

I had to vote Ex Machina. It's one of my favorite movies, it's so good!

Dave A

Ex Machina is the best. Interstellar is the most spectacular

Fostena

Interstellar bc I haven't seen it myself and would love to watch it w u ❤️

Trinity Davis

Most people would just call this list "Movie Night"

Steve J

.............Predator is the *only* choice....

Diiirk706

I thought she had seen interstellar though? if not, interstellar for sure, if yes, ex machina!

Chris

Interstellar is one of my favorite movies to watch people react to, but truthfully all these movies are great

Haughtbreaker Nic

I was so ready to vote for something Star Trek, but I'm excited about Interstellar, too.

Tim Franklin

All of these are worthy of a reaction! But I am happy to start with Interstellar 😊

Austin

She’s already seen interstellar guys. Choose Planet of the Apes!

Terra_Omega_3

Which Planet of the Apes are we talking here? The original with Charlton Heston has a special place in cinematic history.

bytefyre

Interstellar is great. It can take a bit to wrap your brain. Around some of the concepts, but it's a solid piece of science fiction.

Sam Kimpton

Ex Machina won’t win. But it should. A classic for sure. I don’t think I have seen very many reactions to it either. Hopefully, it becomes an executive decision by Natalie like she did with Drive. Because it’s incredible.

Zack Wallace

Well shit, I can only choose one? Dammit. I'm gonna go with apes since she seen interstellar already

LightsCameraJake

Interstellar first. Ex Machina after for sure

Derrick

Ex Machina is great, I also love Planet of the Apes trilogy, Predator is classic from my youth.

Josip Buretić

Happy Saturday Nat. 4th time lucky for those Apes, please 🐵 Have a great weekend, and thanks for all your awesome work this week Nattie G 💛

Darryl Low

Predator all the way to the choppah

Jason Dolan

Interstellar is a must watch, but my favorite of the bunch is still Ex Machina

Tonttu

Ex Machina is definitely a hidden gem, just never got the notoriety it deserved.

Aquilam_Auratum

Where's transformers?

Kate

All great films. Im going with the one i feel is the best/highest quality in Ex Machina but all these movies are solid A material

Joshua Kon

Oh wow a poll in which all the movies are good, but in very different ways. Hm. I picked Predator, but really we all win this time.

Gabriel L.

Interstellar all the way for Nat.

Ali D

Ex Machina is one of the best movies ever. I’ve never even heard of Interstellar

John Piazza

Interstellar for sure! 😃

Afonso Neves
