The thing with Max is. Jane was looking for her but she wasn't there because Henry said when he killed someone ''they stay with him''. So Max her soul/mind is in Henry's mind. So I think next season Jane needs to get Max her soul out of Henry???

What a great finale to an epic season! Thank you so much for taking on this show and letting us in on this journey with you. Seeing your genuine reactions to these episodes really hit home and made me feel like I was seeing them for the first time again. This series is so great and I thought this season was amazing. I love all these characters but here were my standouts from S4: Max Such great character development this season and my overall standout for S4. I’m happy they leaned into the trauma of Billy’s death and didn’t brush it over with a scene or two. You were right that they weren’t afraid to tackle serious issues like mental health, depression, even suicidal thoughts. Not easy to do and it needs to be done very carefully, but overall I thought it was all handled extremely well. Some amazing moments for Max in E4 and also in this finale. The symbolism of her friends being able to open the door for her, but she still having to walk (or run) through it was done so beautifully. Her relationship with Lucas throughout this season was also really touching. I think/hope she’ll be an important part of S5 and ultimately in defeating Vecna, since it's clearly personal now given that he literally killed her. Lucas Seeing Lucas starting out by trying to be part of the jocks/cool crowd to ultimately finding his place by the side of his friends was a nice arc for him this season. In S3, he and Max’s relationship was often played for laughs, but in this season I thought that their relationship showed real growth, despite the fact that they weren’t even technically together. Their little moments together and him being there for her throughout all the hell she went through this season, all the way to her bedside in the finale, was really heartwarming. Eleven I really like what they did with El this season. It was a rough start with her being bullied at school and the over-the-top scene at the Rink-O-Mania, but I thought things really picked up for her once she had that great talk with Owens in the diner. I thought E8 was one of her best in the entire series for her character. Ultimately having to confront her past with Papa, the lab, and Henry had such a great payoff. She was finally able to recognize Papa for what he was, a monster who controlled and manipulated children for his own needs and power. On the other hand, I also liked that their relationship was a complicated one and that, despite everything, she still had genuine affection for him and was sad to see him die. But she importantly didn’t absolve him of the terrible things he did. That felt right and I’m hoping that she’ll finally come to terms with who she is and the things she’s done as she goes into S5. You get the feeling that she’ll need all of that - and maybe a bit more - to be able to overcome Vecna. Mike’s speech was also a great callback to S3 when he struggled to tell her he loved her (as well as earlier in S4), and was an important moment for their relationship. I also thought the “piggyback” was a brilliant way to get her to join the team from a distance. It was heartbreaking when she couldn’t save Max and seeing her grieve over her body with Lucas (without him even knowing it). I’ll admit that I’m glad they found a way to bring Max back as I love her character, but equally glad that the damage wasn’t fully reversed, as this season had to have real consequences. I also really enjoyed her reunion with Hopper at the end of the finale. At first, like you, I thought it was a bit downplayed and had expected it to be tied with a huge pivotal scene (like Mike’s speech). But on rewatch, I came to appreciate the gentleness and warmth of the scene and I thought it made for a great parallel to the heart-to-heart speech from the end of S3. Speaking of which, I’ve found this show hits even harder on rewatch so I highly recommend it. :) Eddie He won me over in E1 with his scene with Chrissy in the woods - great chemistry. From then on, I really enjoyed every minute when he was on the screen. Such a genuine character and a great addition to our group. I particularly liked his interactions with Steve and Dustin and wish we could have had more of him for S5. But you nailed it with his death scene being handled so well and also Dustin’s talk with his uncle at the end of the finale was amazing. It makes me feel better knowing his uncle knew he died a hero, although I wish the whole town knew it, too. Vecna/Henry/One Another terrific standout of this season and fitting as our overarching villain of the series. His turn and reveal from the friendly orderly, to One, to Henry, to Vecna in E7 was mind blowing. Kudos to JCB for completely changing his entire demeanour from friendly to menacing so convincingly in that ep. I really liked his showdown with El in E9 and that he ultimately won. You get the feeling that she and the gang will need everything they got to take him down. Thanks again for these great reactions and can’t wait for S5!

I think they did an incredible job of connecting the dots. 001, the lover of spiders - sent to this new world (the upside down) - made the shadow into the spider monster we are already familiar with. He used what was already there and militarized it - much like he wanted to do with Eleven before. He spent years there preparing to invade again. So, despite the group's best efforts, he was always two steps ahead. Even when "down." Meanwhile, the scientists and military in the "normal" world both want to study and use these forces for their own purposes, and both feel they are in the right and that every problem is on the other's shoulders. It makes so much sense. And despite them not killing an old character and only a recent one, they made sure they had our hearts. As for Max, they made it such an epic journey and left it so uncertain that it was like bungee jumping on the verge of death and being too lost to know what was going on, but hopeful. It's emotional, impactful, and funny and raises the stakes. I love this season, and I LOVED your reactions! I get really emotional when you cry, but I admire how open you are 💗 you're so sweet! Thank you for letting yourself be vulnerable.

Well... f**k me, that was a ride! I'd been kinda about to get to watching this season when you started S1, so figured I'd rewatch through and do this season with you, Nat, so was my first viewing too and ... wow. Sad to see Eddie die, but I kinda expected that'd happen fairly early on. Hoped it wouldn't, but suspected. Seeing the 'Satanic Panic' stuff in full swing I think hits a little harder for those of us who love D&D too, and have just heard of it. And having gone through bullying, at least of the verbal nature, myself, that all hit home pretty hard, so this season was a slightly tougher watch for me. Hence having got to watching the finale just now. I learned as I was looking out of curiosity btw, the actor who played Eddie's from London. as in England. I would never have known. I was starting to suspect 001, and then got that he's Vecna spoiled on a You-Tube video that didn't have any spoiler warnings. I never once thought El had killed the other kids though, and so I'd have known as soon as he'd said about the device stopping his powers, but don't think I'd have figured he was Vecna. As for next season... If it is the final season, I suspect we'll lose some of the original cast. I hope we see Dmitri again, of the new characters. Yuri might be fun too, but he was kind of a dick, so... Anyways, loved the reaction and here's to the next season.

This was incredibly bittersweet. (much like watching Avatar The Last Airbender with you) Im actually kinda sad its over. It feels like forever ago you started season one and Ive really liked watching this show along side you. It would truly made my day so much better after I would get home, make my dinner and sit down and see you did another episode of ATLAB or Stranger Things. Currently doing the same with Arcane. The sweet part of this is knowing there is always new content that is great coming out so although one is over, there will clearly be a next one! Thanks for the great times Nat. My favourite character by a mile was Eddie just because he was always just absolutely himself. The fact that he got sucked into the Upside Down world (much like Steve did) and just dealt with it because he cared so much about Dustin and all the other kids. And then he died so heroically but it was such a waste. It actually makes me pretty upset to think he was just left in the Upside Down and apart from Dustin and Wayne he’s not mentioned again. I’ve heard rumours he may come back in S5 as a vampire - unsure how I feel about that but either way Joseph Quinn will kill it!

This season of the show just didn't do it for me. Coming from someone that binged every other season and was usually done with a season in a about 2-3 days, it took me a couple of months to make it through season 4. The humor didn't work for me. It seems like they tried to make the kids more serious and the adults more of the comedy. I also HATED the pizza delivery kid character. Ugh.

I have a sick feeling in my stomach that Max is dead, but her body is being kept alive. And that the way Vecna returns is by taking control of her body. He's spent the most time in her head out of any of his victims - so emulating her at first may be within his ability, until some positivity is involved that he can't comprehend. Season 5 may have 'her' be the villain sabotaging the group from within until they figure it out! Wild speculation, but can you imagine? Regardless, even if she wakes up she's not going to be in a good place. She'll be blind (those eyes don't look like they'll heal), might be paralysed and will definitely have even more serious trauma to deal with (if she actually comes back from wherever she's gone). Perhaps her 'soul' will have to be wrestled from Vecna, since he mentioned his victims "being a part of him". And maybe it'll mean his other victims (direct and indirect) can come back too - Barb, Eddie, Billy and even Jason (and all the others). Not back to 'Earth', but given form within the Upside Down if Eleven/Kali are able to reshape the Mind Flayer into a benevolent force. It would be a nice bittersweet ending, seeing all those who suffered get a second chance in a new world but coming to terms with never going home (and maybe the connection between Earth and the Upside Down will be severed too). Wishful thinking, perhaps. But I want a happy ending after all this. It'll fit with the 80's cheese.

I think their point is that "normal people" don't really exist, and people who think/appear "normal" are hiding something from the world. Its a façade that makes people feel uncomfortable. Yeah, the 1-season curse strikes again. I heard the Duffer brothers didn't want to kill a main character because they didn't like how it will affect the others, like how Max was so affected by Billy dying. I guess that really shows how a character's emotional well-being is being taken into consideration in their writing. Makes sense too because One and El's powers are kind of reliant on their emotions.

These reactions have been a blast! I was always looking forward to these! I’m glad I got an excuse to rewatch all the seasons and have a refresher for context I might have missed in my first season 4 watch! Unfortunately I was spoiled about max dying and coming back to life the first day season 4 dropped on Netflix because I didn’t know part two had dropped until I saw the tweet about her 😭 but even then I was still on the edge of my seat as if I didn’t know!! And the scene with Dustin and Eddie’s uncle gets me every time! His death and the idea that most people think he’s a murderer never fails to bring me to tears. I think I was suspicious of Henry (well at the time mysterious orderly guy lol) because I’m a big Twilight fan and Jamie’s character in twilight is so evil, but I had no idea he was Vecna lol, but yeah I can definitely see the similarities in retrospect. Loved all his press interviews after the reveal, it makes me way less creeped out by Vecna because I’m just thinking about all the memes and funny videos😂 can’t wait for more arcane and whatever other show and movies you dig into next!

I'm actually a scaredy cat when it comes to horror. That first season I barely got through. Seasons 2 and 3 were not nearly as bad because the monsters were visible from the beginning. But this season Vecna really creeped me out on first watch. But the performances were so good I couldn't tear my eyes away. Luckily I got used to Vecna by the end, but he still creeped me out just because of the way he attacks. Lucas/Caleb during Max's death scene did an amazing job. He just broke me during that scene. I thought he shined all season the way he looked after Max. He let her deal the way she needed to, but never let her forget he was there for her. He may have pushed a few times in the beginning, but in the later episodes you could tell he was trying to give her space. Perfectly written and performed. Dustin was always my favorite of the 4 boys in seasons 1, 2, and 3, but Lucas was my favorite in this season.

I think it wasn't very long after this "aired" that you announced or started Season 1, so everything breaking our hearts was so fresh on my mind, and all I could think was you getting to this point the entire time. Rarely has a wait been this much worth it. Everyone does such a good job, and you have been a delight during the whole show too. In fact, because I watched the full patreon versions for the whole thing, the last 2 days I've gone back to the youtube edits. Didn't quite finish S3 in time for this, but it made tonight a double-finale for me, and it was so much fun to see your opinions evolve with the seasons and the character progressions. Cannot wait for Season 5. Both versions.

okay... episode 9 and therefore season 4 finished... now it's not a spoiler anymore and I can finally talk about this: I really truly wonder how that school counselor is going to play in season 5. I know, I know... y'all probably saying right now: what about the school counselor... it was a minor role, a minor character who we saw last in episode 3 of season 4 and by then she served her purpose by "providing" the key to the student files which our heroes needed to find a connection between the victims... BUT: please please please go back to the scenes with the counselor in episodes 1 and 3 (especially 3 when Max visits her at her home and not in her office) and take close look at the necklace she is wearing and the ornament it holds... it is a freakin' clock of the same type and style that we constantly see in the scenes when Vecna is haunting his victims. There has to be a connection or an explanation for this in season 5, right???

The sword Hopper picked up came from the weapon racks they were allowed to choose from when preparing to fight the Demogorgon. It's actually the same sword that Arnold wields in Conan the Barbarian. Also, Joyce didn't fashion the taser. It was just an electric prod, haha.

I really do like this season a lot, the only downside, is the stupid D-plot with Jason, which really doesn't amount to or accomplish anything. They seem to try to make him somewhat sympathetic in that he's trying to stop the evil that killed Krissy and his friend, but then just make it pointless by turning him crazy and killing him with no real purpose. They could have easily found a way to redeem him or just had him get knocked out and wake up later and seen what was actually going on. Then they could have had him a least be a extra type character in the next season that could put his gun training to use to defend hawkins, which is what he seemed to want. But I guess someone in the writers room wanted to put their bias against jocks. They go to the point to say that people shouldn't be biased against someone for being different, then go and do the same thing against the "normal people" as though that's bad thing to be, a bit hypocritical IMO.

From what I understand, Eleven was able to pump max's heart with her telekinetic powers, therefore giving her "life" but there was no way to bring her brain back so she IS brain dead. Just not completely dead anymore. Which is why El sees nothing when going into max's brain. I feel this will be a big plot point in season 5!

From what I understand about the ending with eleven touching max's chest, I believe she used her telekinetic powers to pump her heart to make her stay alive. This reaction DID NOT disappoint AT ALL! I saw the reactions of other people, and they got emotional, but not like I did when I watched this episode for the first time. Seriously, awesome reaction, Natalie! Now, I guess we'll have to wait 2 years for more tears on this show, for the very last time. :) Also, everything you said at the end shows that you pretty much perfectly understood this season in a very deep way. And that's awesome. People usually see more things about the monsters, the Upside Down, but you saw both the spectacle and the emotional challenges, the ups and downs, and how they really feel.

Great Reaction! The heart break moment for me is when Lucas asks his sister to get help when Max was dying. The way the actor yelled out was very guttural from all the emotion he was feeling. There is a line in one of the earlier episodes that tells that whe One kills a person, he doesn't only kills them, but he consumes them, everything they were. So when he killed Max she was consumed by him, into his mind. That's why when Eleven saw her mind, it was empty

This 2 and a half hours flew by SO quick! Loved it a lot! To answer the question if we caught on to the 1/Henry and Vecna reveal. I only caught on to Henry being 1 but did not think he would also be Vecna. Definitely loved the reveal a lot

So what's pretty cool about Vecna and Jamie Campbell Bower is that the whole outfit was basically 99% prosthetic. The only CGI was the nose and then the movement of the tentacles and stuff, watching some of the time lapse videos of the transformation was really interesting.

You may have already looked up the answer to your question, but Vecna was 90% practical effects and makeup & took 7 hours to complete! You may see some similarities between Vecna (and homage to Freddy Krueger of course) and the Night King from Game of Thrones as they were both done by Barrie Gower :)

Nat is ths third of my five reactors to have reacted to this episode and I still haven't been able to rewatch it with any of them. That's how devastated I am not just by the ending but by how much of a cliffhanger it is, both for the overall conflict and for Max.

The sword Hopper picked up came from the weapon racks they were allowed to choose from when preparing to fight the Demogorgon. It's actually the same sword that Arnold wields in Conan the Barbarian. Also, Joyce didn't fashion the taser. It was just an electric prod, haha.
