Let's watch Back to the Future!!

Hi Folks!

Time for another surprise flick! I was in the mood for some good, nostalgic fun! Let's watch a classic together :)

I skip an intro for this one because it's mostly targeted at the YouTube folks, but you'll see it soon enough over there. I watched this movie on Amazon Prime.

Thanks again for your support here on Patreon. Until the next one, take care and stay golden!

Seems like people are posting even though it's been nearly a year. So I'm going to add a vote for 2 and 3. By the way, they did not plan for a sequel, that ending was just meant to be a fun way to end.

slypeartree

Yes watch 2 and 3! Interesting history...2 and 3 were both filmed at the same time continuously. It was originally going to be 1 movie and was broken up into 2. The 3rd was released the very next year. Their was even a trailed (it has spoilers) immediately after the end of the 2nd movie.

Brett Farmer

A little late to the party, but time is relative right? xD Part 2 + 3 please!

FatLittleButterfly

GREAT SCOTT

James M

Yes! Please watch parts 2 and 3. It all ties up nicely.

Joe Blankenship

I haven't seen this in years, have been thinking it was about time to re-watch it, and this came along as the perfect excuse to do it.

Felix Bergman

You gotta finish what you started!!!!! I just love how the relationship for marty's parents went from loving because the dad was weak and pathetic (car crash) to brave and heroic. And I love the irony that in a movie about time travel, with a time machine, that their big problem is they don't have enough time

FatLittleButterfly

YES YES YES! Thank you SO MUCH for this! Cannot express how much fun to revisit this with you (speaking as someone who saw this in the original theatrical release โ€” and is the exact same age as Marty was). PLEASE watch the sequels โ€” no, not as classic as the original, but DEFINITELY worth a rewatch with you!

William R Coughlan

Oh the sequels are great! I think the third one is my favorite.

Edgar Guzman

Troy is a weird one. Its got all the elements of being a good movie, yet somehow... well, its enjoyable, but I'd not call it 'good'. Brad Pitt and most of the other cast are fantastic, there's just something off about it. Probably not sticking to the mythology enough, maybe? Still worth a watch.

Laura Thornley

100% please do 2&3, great movies

Ben Ranson

Just a note, in the early 50's in the US, being gay could get you in prison or interned, so that wouldn't really work as an excuse ;)

Arronax06

I was concerned no one would mention that lol I have the Sports album he has the poster for on the wall

Ben Wheeler

Yes two and three are a Must! also gonna throw in some random suggestions that most of my fellow Patreon would agree, The Godfather one and two, the mummy and the mummy returns, I'll squeeze in Troy from 2004 Brad Pitt was born to play tha role ๐Ÿ˜Š

dieselbeast

Welp, guess I should give up music and get a job with Flea from the RHCP.

Joe Blankenship

This is debatable. Because if I watch part 2, I wanna watch part 3 right after it. I can watch part 1 and be satisfied.

Joe Blankenship

If the Doc always knew then Twin Pines Mall would always have been Lone Pine Mall, so the Doc didn't know until Marty travelled back in time.

Opti_Frog

And now you're posting spoilers for a movie Nat hasn't seen.

Opti_Frog

This movie is just so well constructed. So many Chekhov's Guns that all pay off in some way.

Jomero

This series is worth going through in its entirety

Myles Away

Honestly don't worry about pausing the show you're watching. You have a life too. I actually almost didn't even notice.

Matthew seegmiller

Your goofiness is what makes you golden and makes your reactions fun to watch, Nat. Never change. I love this movie and no matter how many times i watch it, i still find the end sequence exciting. Hope you get around to watching the rest of the trilogy. The 3rd is my personal favourite and rounds out the series perfectly. Happy New Year to you and your family. Stay golden๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Wiremu Marshall

wheres interstellar?

juan calderon

The first BTTF was also not planned as a "Part I" despite the ending. (Spoilers, ho!) https://www.denofgeek.com/movies/back-to-the-future-not-planned-trilogy-makes-it-great/

REDR58

Silvestri also composed the music for 5 MCU films: "Captain America: The First Avenger" as well as the 4 "Avengers" movies.

REDR58

The judge with the megaphone is Huey Lewis. That gets missed a lot.

Jay Robert

I โค๏ธ your intros!

Jay Robert

VI for Vendetta

Mastervodo

I'm afraid you're just too darn loud.

Michael G. Munz

I just noticed that too! Poor old man Peabody.

Ian Cano

I always think it would be funny if when George finally kisses Loraine and Marty looks at the picture of him and his brother and sister rapidly are reappearing he would see like five other kids appearing as well.

Thomas Richter

If I'm not mistaken, the actual IRL reason he sent the dog was so that the stunt driver driving the car could wear a dog mask and keep the illusion. If no one was driving, it would have been harder to hide.

THE LORE!!!

Gotta do the whole trilogy. Itโ€™s a top 5 trilogy of all time

Sean

Not only did he test it with Einstein, he and Marty were standing in front of the car. Test fail= Marty and Doc dead. In the" Two pines" Universe, there's a nuclear holocaust thanks to Doc. Ever wonder why Doc became friend with a teenager who like rock music??, 'cause he knew. It's the perfect time travel movie, Grandfather theory + multiverse.

Daniel Vezina

My only thoughts on this one are: -This is an awesome classic that admittedly has some creepy problematic moments with Lorraine wanting to get with her son. But for the most part the movie really works. It's instant classic. -The historical figures on 1955 Doc's mantle are Isaac Newtown, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison (whom he was talking to), and Albert Einstein. -OMG, you haven't seen the sequels?! I mean, it's not a crime, but given familiar and nostalgic you are about the first one, I sorta assumed you saw the sequels in your youth even if on TV, as was the case for me. Yeah. They're worth it. They're not as solid as the original for various reasons, but I love them all the same. And one might be better than the other depending on who you talk to. I think Part II is better at aspects concerning time travel and multiple timelines. Meanwhile Part III is better at solid character development for certain characters. And they're both good at character mind you. But Part II is the king of crazy alt timelines, and Part III is the king of character development.

Nicholas Sulikowski

Not sure if youโ€™re referring to T2 or BTTF2 but everyone in the comments told Natalie T2 was better and she did end up liking it more. And BTTF2 is the best of the trilogy because you get all the meta moments where Marty sees himself in the past from the last time he affected the past so itโ€™s like inception. Plus it had the hoverboard and the Jaws hologram and just so many classic moments.

John Piazza

Said no one ever.

Opti_Frog

Nat is usually pretty good at noticing stuff like that, i was hoping she'd catch Lone Pine Mall ๐Ÿ˜Š

Opti_Frog

It's also (and I'm using Steven Spielberg's words here) "tight as a drum. [...] a perfect storytelling machine." Everything that needs to be there is there. Everything that's there is there for a reason.

Opti_Frog

Bob Gale: We had two sneak previews. The first one was in San Jose. This was an audience that had no idea what movie they were going to see โ€” all they knew was that Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd were in it. Steven Spielberg: I saw it with an audience at the preview for the first time. Except for E.T., it was the greatest preview I've ever sat through. The audience just never stopped laughing and never stopped applauding every set-piece. By the time the lights went up, that preview audience owned Back To The Future. Bob Gale: [..] we had this dynamite sneak preview. The visual effects weren't finished, the last shot of the movie was in black and white, it was still pretty rough. But the audience went completely nuts. Robert Zemeckis: We'd never designed the first Back To The Future to have a sequel. The flying car at the end was a joke, a great payoff. We thought this would be really hard to unravel and do again. But when you make a movie that's as successful as Back To The Future, it becomes this piece of corporate real estate. You're basically given a decision: we're making a sequel, do you want to be involved or not? So we felt we had to protect our work. We said, "We have a very unique situation here. We have a sequel to a gigantically successful movie that's about time-travel. So we can do what no other sequel can ever do, which is..."

Opti_Frog

I've not seen this movie in many many years, this was a hugely fun "surprise". Happy New Year!

Shen V

Nat needs to watch the whole Trilogy!

Boomcity

Homeward Bound (Michael J Fox) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (Christopher Lloyd) would be fun reactions

Ben Wheeler

I 2nd this!

Joshua Kon

Loved revisiting this movie with you, your comments are so good and and make me discover so much why I cherish this move. Thank you Natalie :)

Hilmar Finnsson

Love this movie. My birthday tradition is to watch this and V for Vendetta.

G. T. Blackwell

absolutely watch the next two movies, unlike most sequals these three movies are direct continuations of the same overall aching story and the third movie is well, in my opinion the best one.

LightsCameraJake

What's good about re-watches for movies like the Back to the Future trilogy is the trivia in the comments that you may not have known before.

Andrew T

OMG, I got into an argument way back when this came out in the movies and turns out I was WRONG!! You're right and I owe Billy Walker an apology...Sorry Billy. It IS Lone pine mall.

Essero Eson

You HAVE to do the next two as well, they are just so much fun :D

Danishprince

Nat, you mentioned during the scene when Doc sees the Flux Capacitor how cool it would be to invent a time machine then immediately be shown that it worked.... It's funny, but I've always said that if I wanted to invent a time machine, I'd tell myself to go back to the day I invented it to show past-me that it worked. And if that doesn't happen, then I'll know that the time machine won't work, and so I wouldn't need to put forth the effort to build it. It's a time-saver!

Sam Kimpton

which is better quality, the embedded Patreon video or the YouTube version? ๐Ÿ™‚

Mannygogou

oh I did not know that I wanted to watch this again! ๐Ÿ˜… yet here we are...

Mannygogou

Well did you know that the homeless man "Red' is actually Mayor Red Thomas in 1955?!

George Baxter

I mean it's international law to watch all 3 movies once you watch the first BttF one. So you better not break any laws.

proq

Love the music its so timeless

Narutoanime16

You got to watch the two other films as well. They are just as amazing and fun :)

Fredrik Larsson

I love the first and third movie. The second is okay.

Philip Davetas

Yeah, I've seen BTTF probably dozens of times and I feel like I notice new little details each time. A few notes: The portrait that Doc is talking to is Thomas Edison or "Tom" to Doc. A framed newspaper clip in Doc's garage in 1985 reads "Brown Mansion Burns Down" and "135 prime acres to be sold to developers" or something to that effect. It was suggested that Doc burned down his place for the insurance (and moved into his garage) to fund finishing the DeLorean. Pepsi Free was a newer (in 1985) caffeine-free version of Pepsi, hence the 1955 joke "You want a Pepsi pal, you're gonna pay for it!" There's a few cans dotted around in Marty's house in original 1985. I hope you DO react to BTTF 2 & 3, those would be really fun! Happy New Years!

Keith Jacobsen

Just like Terminator the 2nd Back to the Future movie is so much better then the first

John Piazza

For me it's one of the best trilogies of all time. Works so perfectly together

Danishprince

They don't ? I thought everyone liked all 3 films granted yea the first and 2nd always get the most love but its still a solid 3 movie story

Narutoanime16

No one gets the joke about the farmer being named Peabody. It's a reference to Mr. Peabody and Sherman from "The adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle." Mr Peabody was a a dog with a time machine who traveled with Sherman, a young boy. It's a very meta joke, considering Einstein time traveling a few moments before. I guess the reference too old for a younger audience.

Christopher Boscarino

I know the other 2 dont get the most love but this trilogy is my absolute favorite ever so seeing you finish it out would be awesome!

Rick Orange

I'm guess you already figured this out Nat. 00:52:52:00 Doc Brown was talking electricity to his friend Tom. AKA Thomas Edition. I think he invented something important that had something to do with electricity. That's right he helped invent the Electric Chair. I hear it was a real killer,

Powers209

Ooh nice

Rey

Alan Silvestri composed for Predator as well! Which I think would be a much better movie for Nat to react to than BTTF2 or 3. This is one series that really didn't get better with 2 and 3. Alan also composed for Ready Player One. Now - Nat is certainly not a gamer and may not get as much out of that one as someone who has been playing video games since PONG - but I think she would really like it. So - +1 for Predator or Ready Player One. Or Brick. Or Scott Pilgrim. Yeah. Scott Pilgrim. See how many stars she can pick out of that movie!

Mastervodo

Would love it if you watch the whole trilogy ^^

YannickWega

Loved watching this movie with you today Nat. It was so much fun. I enjoyed you bopping along to Johnny B. Goode and Alan Silvestri's theme and score is just so good. There's so many little details throughout, like the Twin Pines Mall at the start becomes the Lone Pine Mall at the end after Marty drives over one of the trees back in 1955 Today's video is your 210th full length reaction of 2022 Nattie G. You are a modern marvel. Thank you for all your amazing work you put into your reactions and giving us something to look forward to, and keeping me and many others entertained throughout this year. Have a happy new year Nat, and all the best to you & Tyler and all your family and friends ๐Ÿ’›

Darryl Low

Loved the rewatch! You gotta watch Part 2 now!

Michael Ford III

Good catch! I never noticed that!

Michael Ford III

Notice how, after Marty ran over one of the pine trees in the past, Twin Pines Mall is now Lone Pine Mall when he returns to 1985.

Chief

Mega enjoyed watching this with you! Had such a great time. :) This one was such a fun ride. xD I'm surprised you didn't quote the end "Where we're going, we don't need roads!" That line always makes me smile. I'm not really a huge fan of the sequels but if they're going to be watched I won't be upset about it.

Logan Kerlee

Top 10 movie for me. Absolutely finish the trilogy if you can find time for it.

Choof

Yay! My favourite 80s movie!

Opti_Frog

Happy Friday nat hope you had a wonderful Christmas and had a lovely break . Saving this reaction til tomorrow cuz after having covid the entire Christmas I have people to go see now I'm better but I'm sure looking forward to seeing your reaction ๐Ÿฅณ have an amazing new year and until 2023 stay golden ๐Ÿ’›

Ian

Excuse? What we're watching, we won't need...an excuse.

Ed Green

Funny enough, I was wanting to watch this movie and this gives me a great excuse to watch it!

Ernesto

The BttF script is still taught in a bunch of film schools as an example of a perfect 3-act structure. Studying it is a great way of understanding how 98% of all film scripts work.

K.N.

Favorite movie of ALL time. I am totally down for this. ๐Ÿ™Œ

bostonate

Iโ€™m so excited for this one!!!

Juliana Montenegro

One of the best films ever - I can watch this every day :D

Danishprince

Donโ€™t need money, donโ€™t take fame, donโ€™t need no credit card to ride this train!

Joe Blankenship

I never claimed to be a great listener ๐Ÿ˜…

Ben Wheeler

Not much of a surprise, you spoiled it on the last Arcane video. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thomas Richter

It happens :D

Danishprince

Mistakes happens :D

Danishprince

First time watching in the title and then 5 seconds later "I've seen it before" ๐Ÿ‘Ž

ButtyOh

bahhaha lemme fix that.. I swear I just get in the habit and type too fast sometimes!

Natalie Gold

One of only a handful of perfect movies ever made.

adrianR31

"First time watching"?

Danishprince

She mentioned in another post it will be out Jan 6th

LightsCameraJake

Happy Feature Friday, Natalie! ๐Ÿ˜Š This is such a great surprise! I love this movie, and the whole "Back to the Future" trilogy. Definitely my top favorite Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd movie. Looking forward to watching this one later this evening. Have a great day and New Year's weekend! ๐Ÿ˜Š Stay Golden! ๐Ÿ’›

Randee Carreno

This is my favorite movie! Canโ€™t wait to see your reaction!

Daryll Mancill

Happy Friday Nat. Hope you've had a good week. Looking forward to watching this 80s classic with you ๐Ÿค—
