Help me pick the next DC film to watch!

We've watched Man of Steel together, but what do I do next? Do we skip Batman vs. Superman and suffer through the first Suicide Squad together? Or do we just go straight to Wonder Woman? Let me know in the poll!

I would like to watch the second Suicide Squad (2021) eventually, so if you think I need to watch the first one to understand it, lmk :)

Comments

Look, I'm not gonna argue that Joss Whedon is a good person. Many brilliant artists are objectively terrible people. But let's not lay the blame for Justice League completely at his feet. Thousands of ppl worked on that movie and he came in at the 11th hour to try to finish baking someone else's cake. He had to work with a script he probably didn't like, a cast and crew he didn't know and a ton of footage he didn't shoot. Did he make a better movie than what Snyder would have made? Probably not. Did he make it worse? Maybe. Could anyone else have done better? Probably not by much. Whether he polished the turd or smushed it, at the end of the day, it's still a turd.

Jordan Love

I agree watching wonder woman is fine (minimal spoilers for bvs) but I'd say go back to batman v superman (extended) at some stage, before justice league obviously, it has issues but it's worth a watch, I quite enjoyed it

Tesh

Might I suggest Brightburn as slight movie detour.

Phillip D Piris

Canonically watching Wonder Woman makes sense. if you're going to watch Batman Vs Superman, watch the ultimate edition, it's better than the theatrical release. Watch both Justice League and the Syndercut to see how badly Joss Whedon did on the theatrical version.

Tarquin Pillay

Wonder Woman is the best film of the lot easily, but if you get to BVS it needs to be the extended cut otherwise it’s just a waste of time

Nic Benham

I think it's mostly general fans that are good with WW, not so much with BvS. DC fans, at least the ones on here, seem to think that every DCEU film must be watched, even the bad ones - like WW84.

Richard Maurer

This is a hard decision. Wonder Woman is a better film than BvS. And the Snyderverse is going away. However it might be interesting to see the Snyder Saga at it is, even if just following the basic skeleton of Man of Steel, Batman v Superman ULTIMATE Edition, and Zack Snyder's Justice League (4 hour cut). Wonder Woman is a much better film, and if you just want to stick with origins, that's fine. But doing the Snyder trilogy might be interesting, even if it's not your cup of tea. In particular, BvS is a very direct sequel to Man of Steel, dealing very immediately with the fallout of the climax of that movie. And it also sets up Wonder Woman, so you have that nice bridge and continuity. Additionally, BvS ULTIMATE is mandatory if you ever intend on watching any version of Justice League. I will say though, Suicide Squad (2016) is easily the worst one listed here. MY ADVISE: Watch the Snyderverse (Man of Steel, BvS Ultimate, Zack Snyder's JL), just to see what that trilogy was trying to do. And then watch great standalones like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam!, and we'll take it from there.

Nicholas Sulikowski

It's so interesting to see the comments here mostly praising WW and being more meh for Batman vs. Superman. (I agree with that assessment, by the way.) My previous impression was that generally D.C. fans thought Snyder was a great director and were more "take it or leave it" regarding W.W.

WastedPo

A thing isn't beautiful because it lasts. Here's the best way to think about the DCEU: It's okay to plan some stuff, and it's okay to figure out what we did wrong. But our plans are randomly gonna fall apart and our lessons are randomly gonna be wrong, and if we just keep the cameras rolling and shoot a lot of crap eventually Annie is going to reach down her shirt and pull out a laser bomb. I didn't write that, we didn't plan that. God made that happen. God made this movie, and it's dumb. And we're dumb for being in it. Life is a big, dumb, pointless movie with no story and an abrupt ending where the hero gets shot by Dracula in the middle of a lunch order during an outtake. But somewhere in there, every once in a while...Annie reaches down her shirt. So we keep the cameras rolling, and we edit out the parts we don't like, and we stop thinking about Chris Pratt so much because it is not healthy.

Jordan Love

I mean BvS isn’t a masterpiece but it by far is not the worst DC movie - it’s shot well, there’s some good performances, and it’s pretty essential to understand the actual very good DC movies. Definitely worth a watch!

Daniel McGuinness

Woops, I meant BVS isn't as bad as people say.

XadeChronos

I didn't realize ANYONE was saying the first Wonder Woman was bad. Even "Teen Titans Go to the Movies" did a self-aware in-joke about Wonder Woman being the only Warner/DCU movie that didn't tank with regular civilians. (Now, "Wonder Woman 1984" OTOH...)

Eric Janssen

The ending of wonder woman is slightly related to events that happen in BVS. Also it isn't as bad as people say it is.

XadeChronos

not a fan of anything in this list...

Fernando

Suicide Squad was trash. Just warning you

Chris Moon

Sadly i concur with the %'s not a fan of the other 2 ;)

Squ33ky

If anyone turned this comments sections into a shit-show it's the DC fans that seem to think that every DCEU film is a gem that must be watched. I couldn't get them to agree that skipping WW84 would be okay, even when they acknowledge that it wasn't good.

Richard Maurer

If you do Batman v Superman, it needs to be the Ultimate Edition

Patrick Mitchell

Though I personally hate most of the DCEU movies we have seen cases where her reactions can turn trash movies into fun experiences :D

Danishprince

I was just joking, Delt. But now that you bring it up, what the fuck does Superman 78 have to do with WW? It's not even part of the DCEU. It will be on a poll eventually.

Richard Maurer

Boring

Thoko

Dick, who pissed in your cornflakes? Are you really that upset over there being DC movie reactions? Grow up

Delta

"Don't waste your time, it's so bad it's not worth it". No, I'm not actually referring to ANY of the movies, actually talking about this comments section.

Kev Martin

Truth is while I think watching the whole DCEU would be a big waste of time, if Natalie wanted to do it, I wouldn't make a fuss (with the exception of WW84, of course, I just couldn't let that go). But it just doesn't look like either Natalie or the patrons are down for it. And I do feel a little bad for the DC fans, but the real blame for the state of DCEU goes to WB. They should have followed the Marvel/Disney model of allowing someone who understands and cares about the properties to be in charge, but instead the went the movie by committee route and just superficially copied the Marvel shared universe model. And the results of their decisions are obvious - a handful of good movies with the rest being mediocre to awful. I mean, even most DC fanboys don't like the theatrical cuts of BvS and Justice league. What I'm saying is you can't really blame non DC superfans for not supporting the DCEU - that's all on Warner Brothers shoulders.

Richard Maurer

And please watch Joel Schumacher's Batman and Robin, because you need to understand just how bad a Batman movie can be. And please watch the Adam West Batman series from the sixties, because whatever.

Richard Maurer

Please watch the Extended Cut of Batman V Superman. BUT MOST OF ALL, PLEASE WATCH SUPERMAN 1978 BEFORE YOU WATCH WONDER WOMAN :D

Delta

BvS is so bad that I voted for it

Shawn E Mercado

I wasn't the biggest fan of WET THOR, but I realize people like it. SHAZAM was pretty decent, but James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD/PEACEMAKER is the best of the bunch.

Philip Davetas

That and PEACEMAKER.

Philip Davetas

I think when I first saw WW, I was liking it more than disliking it, but I knew I could never watch it again because it would be such a drag on the second go round. It just takes so long to get going. I wouldn't even bother to make a poll with WW84. It's probably worse than David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD. Honestly, I don't know why bother with any of these. None of these are going to continue. Almost all the projects have been canceled and actors fired. Even Henry Cavill and The Rock have been fired.

Philip Davetas

The UE/DC cut is even worse. Absolutely not universally agreed upon to be great. It's the same bad movie with more bad stuff.

Opti_Frog

Batman vs Superman wasn't that bad. I think the Martha line really killed the movie.

AlimonyMoney

^^^

Blaise Uzomah

Totally agree with Nathaniel Wolf.

Baggie Mark

I agree

Blaise Uzomah

Same

Blaise Uzomah

The difference between the three movies is Wonder woman is good, suicide squad is bad but funny, and Batman versus Superman is just trash.

Nathaniel Wolf

^^THIS^^

PureGonzo

You can skip SS, but if you plan on watching all the rest of the DCEU, you absolutely cannot skip BVS. The movie is’t the best, but it informs EVERYTHING that follows it.

Flick Freaks

@Richard Maurer - No point in having the same conversation twice. See my above comment as it covers this.

Brian Jones

@Richard Maurer - Again, you do you, it's all just a matter of opinion. I'm not that fond of WW84 myself, but you never know, someone else might feel different, including Nat. "I mean if some DC fans could be a little reasonable about it but no, we have to watch every one, no matter how bad it is" Marvel anyone???? lol...... I thought Black Widow was a dumpster fire and Chang Chi was subpar at best, Eternals was a disaster, and I could point you to a wonderful and highly entertaining 6 hour video detailing countless valid reasons why Dr. Strange and TMoM was a complete travesty of filmmaking if you're interested. :). Marvel has been on a steady downhill slide since Endgame, has lost all it's directorial talent aside from Gunn (who's one foot out the door already), the majority of it's highly bankable stars, most of it's best writers, and the entire franchise is coasting on brand recognition alone at this point. But again, those are MY opinions. Doesn't mean Nat isn't going to like them. And the real point here is that Nat went ahead and watched them. She actually gave them a fair shake. Don't you think fans of the DCEU films deserve the same fair shake that you got with the Marvel movies? And yes, I know where the vote is going. I could have told you the outcome before she even posted it given the way most all the polls go and the negative nonsense surrounding MoS and almost anything DC related. But who's to say doing the DC universe wouldn't bring in fans she wouldn't have otherwise had?🤷

Brian Jones

The only thing in phase 4 close to being as bad as WW 1984 is Thor Love and thunder, and I'd watch it over WW84 anytime.

Richard Maurer

Watching the entire DCEU including WW 1984? I mean if some DC fans could be a little reasonable about it but no, we have to watch every one, no matter how bad it is, and how bad it would do on YT. I'm a obviously a big MCU fan but if a reactor wanted to skip Thor Love and Thunder I'd be fine with it. Hell, I've even commented to some reactors not to waste their time. If Natalie really wanted to do all the DCEU she could have just said I'm doing BvS next, and if the patrons wanted it they would have voted for it.

Richard Maurer

I don't even dislike like most of the DCEU films as much as many people here do (with the exception of WW1984), but facts are facts.

Richard Maurer

Make sure to watch... Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition)

Michael MacDonagh

Richard, has the DCEU physically hurt you in some way?

Dooly

The theatrical version wasn’t, but the Ultimate Edition/Director’s Cut (which is the version available on HBO Max for free) is almost universally agreed upon to be great. The problem is that so many people saw the theatrical version first, and then never bothered to watch the real version, and so their opinions are skewed. But in any case, it simply makes sense for Nat to watch the films in chronological order if she’s going to dive into the DCEU imo.

PureGonzo

@Richard Maurer - "But WW 1984 should be reserved for a punishment or a cringe viewing. " I'd say the same for pretty much all of the phase 4 films from Marvel, but hey, she liked some of those as well, so you never know.🤷

Brian Jones

@Richard Maurer - None have been built watching the Godfather films either, yet it usually ends up being one of the suggested/required views for almost all of them. And she's watched almost all of the MCU films anyway, in release order I might add..... Don't really understand your point here Richard. Nat has watched countless films that did worse, were less popular, or made less than many of the DCEU films. Hell, a few of those DCEU films did better than some of those MCU films you cherish so much. Better than some of those X-Men films as well. Again, there's clearly a DCEU fanbase out there, and we're talking about films that all made hundreds of millions of dollars, so it's clearly a pretty decent size. While I realize you might not personally be one of them, that doesn't make your opinion the gold standard. And any argument about it not doing well for her channel holds about as much water as a sieve.....smdh

Brian Jones

@Kev - When you're talking about that many films, then yes, YT is a major factor. If we were talking about 1 or 2 films it wouldn't be a big deal, but the DCEU is a lot of films, many of which aren't particularly popular. That's a big hit you're asking Natalie to take.

Richard Maurer

All worth watching in my view, for varying reasons. But its the usual story with these discussions - "I don't like it, therefore its a terrible movie and you shouldn't watch it". I find if you don't take a movie too seriously, most of the so-called "bad" ones actually turn out to be fun to watch. Going in to movie viewing as an amateur movie critic is setting yourself up for failure in the enjoyment stakes. Just my 2 cents worth. Sidebar: I wonder if there's a correlation between people who take comic books just a little too seriously, and those who take comic book movies just a little/lot too seriously. #WhySoSerious

Kev Martin

You really do not need to watch the Suicide Squad from 2016. Also, can't believe it's been 6 years since that garbage came out.

Megatto

Is "going to do well on YouTube" really the only criteria though? Sure its a factor, but it seems to me that Natalie also tries to please the Patreon users who directly support her, as well as taking into account other considerations.

Kev Martin

WW 1984 was just plain horrifying.

Richard Maurer

Because the MCU films are actually good? Surely no one would miss Wonder Woman 1984 if she skipped it? If she decided to watch all the other DCEU films I really wouldn't care much one way or the other. Id just skip the ones I don't like. But WW 1984 should be reserved for a punishment or a cringe viewing.

Richard Maurer

A lot channels have been built on watching the MCU. None have been built on watching the DCEU.

Richard Maurer

This man spaketh the truth.

Skizane

^^THIS^^

Brian Jones

It was Warner's inferiority-complex belief that they have to keep "rebooting" the DC heroes with every new project, which is why The Batman isn't Dark Knight, and Dark Knight isn't Batman Forever, and Man of Steel isn't Superman Returns which was trying to be Chris Reeve's Superman but not really, and...

Eric Janssen

"She showed up, and got a museum job" - There, there's your BvS backstory, now let's move on past the pain.

Eric Janssen

The first Wonder Woman was, actually, pretty good, even for MCU fans. The second one was pretty darn loopy. Like, Salkind 80's-"Supergirl" loopy.

Eric Janssen

Suicide Squad can be skipped but I'd enjoy watching Batman vs. Supes. May not be a great movie but it'll be a fun watch. Wonder Woman is amazing though so I'm happy either way.

Logan Kerlee

If you 're going to watch a movie series, watch the movie series. I don't recall all this jumping around and picking and choosing with the MCU.

David Crabtree

Oh no is there a skip all option?i kid kinda Lol but yea at this point its a dead franchise being completely rebooted so dont worry about missing a movie or feeling obligated to watch them all, youll be able to catch on quick with each movie you choose to watch But def skipp batman vs superman, life is too short and precious to waste hours on that mess lol. Oh and knives out 2 is on netflix now in case you didnt know :)

Rey

Because it's not good lol

The Pious Skeleton

You definitely don't need to watch the first Suicide Squad to understand the 2021 version as the latter is basically a soft reboot more than a straight sequel.

The Pious Skeleton

She built her channel watching Star Wars and Marvel. Of course the consensus is skewed toward a certain camp.

Dooly

Look I hear ya I voted for BVS but I can't control what the masses vote for any more than I can control my own hairline

Jason Dolan

Except Wonder Woman is a direct sequel to BvS.

PureGonzo

Why is BvS (Ultimate Edition) not winning? She literally just watched Man of Steel haha.

PureGonzo

I did like all of these movies but Wonder woman is really, really good!

Ben Curran

If/when you do get around to watching Batman v Superman, make sure you watch the Ultimate Edition. It's a better and much more complete movie than the theatrical.

Carter Nelson

Agreed.

Richard Maurer

There is sooo much more wrong with BvS than just the Martha scene. I hate it. It makes me angry. Suicide Squad is at least so bad it's funny. BvS is a tragedy in all aspects.

Opti_Frog

Of course opinions vary but the majority opinion happens to agree with me.

Richard Maurer

We’ll have to agree to disagree regarding the X-Men films.

Dooly

I liked it more than WW. Second best DCEU movie after Shazam.

Opti_Frog

I'm well aware it was a DC comic. But we are talking about Superhero movies here and I don't think Superman or even Batman showing up in RtP would have made much sense,

Richard Maurer

Unlike BvS and Suicide Squad, it's actually competently made.

Opti_Frog

You do not have to watch the first Suicide Squad. Go right to the James Gunn The Suicide Squad. Then the spin off series Peacemaker. IMO

SilentBobFather

It never was DCEU canon. unless there were two Jokers in the DCEU.

Richard Maurer

I second Peacemaker. A good last DC thing to watch after The Suicide Squad.

Com1xguy

At least most of the X-man films are good, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do better on YT too.

Richard Maurer

@Richard, technically 'Road to Perdition' is a DC / Vertigo comic book. The movie grossed 183 million which ranks it 15th among other DC Movies. Just ahead of The Lego Batman movie and it is almost tied with 'Batman Forever'.

Powers209

So never watch The Dark Knight Trilogy because it is no longer canon?

Jason Dolan

@Richard Maurer - "MCU movies are mostly really good" Definitely debatable..... It's all simply a matter of opinion. I distinctly remember many here complaining about Man of Steel, yet Nat liked it. Amazing how opinions differ, isn't it?

Brian Jones

Yet she watched all the X-Men films

Dooly

I have seen this attitude a lot and it is hard not to share it. It really shows how little these movies connected with people. If they were actually impactful it wouldn't matter if they were "canon" or not.

Robjgood

Peacemaker

jamie jones

Am i stopping her? Im one vote buddy

jamie jones

Does anybody really think that the majority of the DCEU films are going to do well on YT for Natalie? Most of them would be a waste of her time. She should watch Wonder Woman, Shazam, and The Suicide Squad and then move on.

Richard Maurer

Well, I shouldn't have to say this, but the difference is the MCU movies are mostly really good. The DCEU movies, on the other hand, are mostly mediocre with only a few that are good.

Richard Maurer

Also with all the changes to DC, these movies are no longer canon so watch whatever whenever you want.

SilentBobFather

Totally. BvS is marred with the exact same issues and should be watched for posterity and academic reasons.

Myles Away

There is a continuity reason to watch Batman vs. Superman before Wonder Woman, but it's minor, and neither film will be ruined if you watch them out of order.

Dwight Everhart

The cool thing is you can watch WONDER WOMAN and then still watch BVS or really any other DCEU movie since like Captain America The First Avenger it chronologically happens first and might even make your viewing of BVS even better since Wonder Woman is the BEST part of that movie

Jason Dolan

Watching WW and BvS in release order is about as important as watching The Incredible Hulk and Ironman 1 in release order.

Rich House

Very obscure. I've seen the movie. I was a fan of the comics when Alan Moore was writing. But - while it might be "fun" I wouldn't recommend Nat react to it because it would get very low views on her channel. But - you know what else Alan Moore wrote? WATCHMEN! :) Also wrote V for Vendetta. Which Nat HAS reacted to already, and I think that's why she kept calling Vi "Vee" in Arcane. Which is the last name of the villian in Swamp Thing. IT'S ALL CONNECTED! AAAAAAAHHHH!

Mastervodo

@REDR58 100% correct on Margot Robbie. I also liked the Deadshot "resume" scene.

Mastervodo

@steve J I did watch the Peacemaker series. It was goofy. I'm not a fan of John Cena the person or actor, really. Vigilante was the best part of the series for me.

Mastervodo

The first Suicide Squad is crap you can watch the second without it and that is what I recommend. But if you enjoy pain . . . Wonder Woman is by far the best of the movies and SS 2 is good enough to watch.

Christopher Gray

agreed, the first suicide squad is hella fun because it’s so bad lmao

PKziggy

I’m with you 100%. Watching the first Suicide Squad is an event on its own. BvS is so dramatic and serious compared to suicide squad with similar quality of cringe.

Xavier Rojas

Suicide Squad should be watched with alcohol and treated as a bad movie watch. There are so many laughable choices and extremely painful performances by actors who have been good or great in other films. It's an interesting and fun academic experience. The same could be said for BvS but it is far too self serious to be a fun bad movie watch.

Myles Away

I don’t think the first suicide squad is necessary to watch the second one. They go over the premise in the second one. On top of that the DC universe is getting a reboot anyways so not many long lasting ramifications from the first one

Xavier Rojas

I agree as well. She’s watched pretty much everything else in release order why doesn’t DC get the same treatment?

Dooly

Agreed. While I am anticipating her reaction to Wonder Woman - arguably the creme of the crop - I guess she should watch in proper release order. Bat vs Sups first, before WW.

King Author

I agree 100% The MCU has had good and bad movies to sift through and we chuck through them like it's nothing. Just a weird situation to do after going through both the MCU and X-Men series in order.

Landon O'Leary

BvS Ultimate Edition should be first.... There's really no point otherwise as it introduces the Wonder Woman Character and it's a must for Justice League. I guess my question would be, if you enjoyed Man of Steel, then why would you not watch them in order (at least the Snyder films)? Why not give this universe the same fair shot you gave Marvel? At least that's my two cents.

Brian Jones

Batman v Superman is terrible but if you're going to watch these movies you might as well watch them in order. Edit: My comment above was suggesting watching in release order but the more I think about it, this series of films was very poorly planned (if planned at all) and one could argue that releasing Wonder Woman before Batman v Superman was likely a better idea. Batman v Superman being the followup to Man of Steel was not a creative decision but a forced studio move.

Myles Away

Suicide Squad actually the worst, BvS is masterpiecie compared to that :D

Grzegorz Błachut

I wouldn't bother with any of these movies anymore except for James Gunn's Suicide Squad.

Saifu

I wish she could just watch BvS ultimate edition but If we watch wonder woman thats fine, we just cant proceed after it else shit will be confusing. Everything after wonder woman tells the story of what happened directly after Batman Vs Superman which is before wonder woman.

LightsCameraJake

Wonder Woman is my favorite of all the recent comic book movies (both Marvel and DC included). I'm someone who generally doesn't care for the DCEU, but Wonder Woman is the exception. It tells a mostly self-contained story that's like an old-fashioned throw-back to the Christopher Reeve Superman movies. There is only one hero, and all the other characters react to her in awe. THAT is how you get the audience to care about the hero. Contrast that to the approach of almost every other single DC/Marvel movie, where they try to insert a billion superheroes under the assumption that more heroes equals more excitement. Meanwhile, the human characters of the world literally don't give a shit when they see Dr. Strange show up at a wedding. I think it's hard for the audience to be in awe of superpowers when the other characters in the movie just view them as trivial.

WastedPo

Am I forgetting the plot to these films? How does BvS set decades after Wonder Woman with only her as a character shared between the films set Wonder Woman up?

Rich House

Honestly tho I don't think it matters anymore since they all got fired

Jayson Phillips

Yeahhh BMvS is before WW

Jayson Phillips

No it all makes perfect sense becau...............LOL. You're right, can't do it.

Richard Maurer

Okay, that is a real stretch. Calling RtP a "comic book movie" I mean

Richard Maurer

Just for WW 84 alone I can't support watching the entire DCEU. I would be okay with 'watch the entire DCEU, EXCEPT WW 84' as an option, although I probably still wouldn't vote for it.

Richard Maurer

Affleck was a better Batman than he's given credit for, but is in no way better than Pattinson.

Richard Maurer

BVS literally sets up Wonder Woman. It's like watching an MCU movie then forgetting to watch a previous chapter.

Landon O'Leary

The whole of the MCU is generally good. The DCEU not so much.

Richard Maurer

BvS does not deserve all the hate it’s getting.

Dooly

Actually, guys, if we want her to watch Justice League. She needs to watch BvS: Dawn of Justice. There's a BIG reason why. Not spoiling it but I think she needs to watch all of Snyder's movies if she wants to understand the overall "Snyder" picture. Say what you want about the DC movies but Snyder had a vision about his franchise. You don't need to watch from the beginning to understand all of these movies. But If you want to watch Snyder's DCEU movies... We need to start from the beginning. Suicide Squad (2017) is worth it for only 2 characters. Willy Smith and Margot Robbie, maybe even Jared Leto, I think you'll have fun with the movie. The story serves very little purpose to the overall DCEU. I believe 2021 Suicide Squad is miles better than 2017 but that's me. But I'm cool with anything, I think I've caught up on every single Nat reaction and I need MORE! Wonder Woman is F**KING Fantastic Btw.

Walter Lopez

Well she can’t skip BvS if y’all want her to watch the Snyder cut of justice league…

David Martin

Decisions were made. Important decisions by important people. In business rooms. It's not their fault that all the decisions were wrong.

Anonymous Groucho

Actually voting for BvS *because* it is terrible. You've been one of us for A WHILE now, you have to suffer with us. ALSO, you know a thing or two about filmmaking and narrative structures, and you would give good insight that's not marred by 30 years of nerddom in your veins. It's slightly easier to sit through than Last Airbender...

Shen V

Just hearing you guys talk about it makes me facepalm. What the Hell were they thinking?

Thomas Yanez

Nice, now how bout you let her determine rather BvS, JL Snyder Cut, and etc are good on her own.

Chris Henderson

I actually prefer the 2017 version. But I am in the minority on that. I do agree that if you ever wish to watch Batman V Superman, I would do it before WW

Patrick - Excelsior

I would definitely recommend watching zack Snyders justice league 2021, not the 2017 cause that one was terrible. But you’d have to watch Batman v Superman (which I enjoyed) and wonder women before you get to that. It’s a fun journey for sure

Dominic Delacruz

I might suggest another DC film to watch if that's OKay? I would suggest Swamp Thing directed by Wes Craven, the same guy who directed A Nightmare on Elm Street. It's about the DC horror hero Swamp Thing, who is a scientist who transforms into a swamp monster and fights the villain Anton Arcane. It's a great little horror superhero B-movie and really fun to watch.

Jeb Manning

Just watch wonder woman, aquaman, shazam, the suicide squad and peacemaker. Nothing else is worth the time.

jamie jones

For sure skip BVS, its absolutely terrible. As is the extended cut. Just a longer terrible movie. The whole thing is getting rebooted anyways.

jamie jones

My own run-through on the DCEU to date would be: Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam, Birds of Prey, THE Suicide Squad (the James Gunn one), and then the Peacemaker series.

Kevin Mowery

I predominantly watch her YouTube vids but I'm definitely going to check for it here thanks dude

Kyle

She already has it posted it was a few weeks back Dec 9 I believe

Frank Rosales

The James Gunn Suicide Squad movie is worth a watch. The 2016 one is more of if you wanted to do another 'terrible movie watch' like with The Last Airbender.

TwistedMagoo

thats fair, cause neither can i

steven lee

I don't know that I hate it, but I can't make it through the Martha scene with a straight face...

TwistedMagoo

Yeah but it's not really a part of the story, it's a framing device only. You could cut the scene entirely and not really lose anything.

Gavin Kinsey

if you do batman v superman do the ultimate edition. thats the version on hbo max

steven lee

idk why people hate on batman vs superman, its not THAT bad. everyone is j so used to hating on it bc the dc fandom was boycotting everything new. just like they're about to do again with the dc reboot smh

steven lee

Friday

Rich

Suicide Squad would be a more tolerable (let's face it, the only really redeeming part of it is Margot Robbie) if it wasn't for the downright GOOFY villain.

REDR58

May as well watch them all in order.

REDR58

Agreed!

Lisa Tosti

I;m not a fan of these DC movies but this is the right order. AND NO SUICIDE SQUAD! Just watch the much better THE SUICIDE SQUAD. I know, it's confusing :-)

Rime Pendragon

Ahh well If we do end up watching BvS, at least make it the Ultimate Edition imo... It does improve on the Theatrical.

JayyDTR

Wonder Woman's opening scene is set after Batman vs Superman.

Connor Ellis

So many negative comments disparaging the DC movies, which I partially understand, but there are perfectly enjoyable movies to watch. BvS was absolutely silly, but it's still a fun watch for me. Nobody is making you watch every one of these reactions, so it's fine not to. Instead of saying that Natalie should just not bother with DC, how about trying to constructively guide her through what SHE would enjoy watching the most? For example, I'd say the first Suicide Squad would be a movie better suited for the cringy semi-series she wants to do.

Darchangel

Suicide Squad will be a far more interesting video for you BvS .... Is long with lots of drawn out moments

Ryan Whelan

Man of steel -> Batman V. Superman -> Wonder Woman-> Snyder Cut of Justice League

Angel Sanchez

I'm one of the rare few apparently who liked all of the movies at least a little. Lol but definitely the extended BvS is much better

FalcorDragon

I don’t REALLY care as long as you watch both.

djKENTO

BvS is the introduction of multiple characters and has HUGE plot elements in it, so I wouldn't skip it if you're doing Justice League at some point. But between that and Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman is probably a better film.

Tucci

Couldn't we just watch the "Pitch Meetings" for all of these? that would be much more fun that having to watch the movies again...

Steve J

Batman vs Superman Extended Edition! Please don't watch the theatrical one lol. It's not worth it

James Hahn

Have you seen the Peacemakaer series? If you don't like John Cena's character it will probably redeem him for you. If you don't like John Cena the person then I dunno (still a super fun series) Agree with you on Watchmen.

Steve J

I’d say go in order so watch Batman vs Superman first

Konnor

if you do end up doing BvS, i highly suggest the extended edition. It adds so many little things that really make the movie far more cohesive.

Terrafan

None of the above

Dominique Cloet

where is "Interstellar" reaction ? is it otw i cant wait!

Harry Moon

What about "road to perdition" Comicbook Movie with Tom Hanks. I think it should be on list.

Powers209

I liked Shazam.

Dethjager

I disagree somewhat. I thought Shazam was a good time. But otherwise... yeah.

Anonymous Groucho

You don't NEED to watch the first Suicide Squad to understand/enjoy the second, but it does add a bit to the experience of the second.

Giancarlo Ubaldino

Diana was introduced in BVS so that's my vote

Rich

How does it even work for Natalie with friends or her hubbie? Friends or Hubbie: "Hey, there's this great movie that came out! Let's go see it!" Natalie: "No! I have to remain unaware!"

Anonymous Groucho

Honestly don't bother. The DC movies are not worth watching.

Dor

Gotta go with Wonder Woman. Watchmen is a good movie, but for me the Watchmen: Ultimate Cut would be the version to watch as it is the version of the film that the director, Zach Snyder, wanted to release in theaters but the studio wouldn't let him. It is long though, but it is completely worth it.

Troy

I agree with mrhalfbit and Alan Felicia: watch Wonder Woman, which is a terrific movie, and skip the rest. "BvS" and the Justice League are crap, and Suicide Squad is even worse. I realize that many (if not most) of your patrons will disagree with me, but I'm right. Don't torture yourself with this garbage, Natalie. There are too many good movies to watch.

William 1611

It really is. I tried giving it another chance not long ago. Still atrocious.

Joe Blankenship

Wait......that was real? I know some actors go method, but method directing is a step too far.

Game Wizard001

Watchmen. Watch the movie Watchmen. It was published by DC so I say it counts. Man... looking at the comments on this poll is just.... *chef's kiss*. Such venom towards so many films! I for one would watch SS#1 just to see Margot Robbie play Harley Quinn. And Will Smith I think did a decent Deadshot. Looks like we will get a Wonder Woman reaction, which is good. Like most everyone else, I could skip all the other DCEU films. SS#2 is fun, but I don't like John Cena. Watchmen though. Iconic movie. Fantastic stand-alone super-hero movie with style. Everyone push for Watchmen!

Mastervodo

Ok so Wonder Woman is a realy good movie, the only realy good movie in DC. But if you want to have a well rounded opinion and some continuity, watch Bats v Sups first and WW afterwards. But thats as far as I'd go. BvS is not great, but it has a few good moments and exactly one that is extremely awesome.

Dioskur

There are so many great movies in the world for you to see instead of trying to figure out what's the least bad DC movie to watch

Ken

I work a lot and don’t get a chance to read every post or watch every video so I didn’t know. Thanks for letting me know so nicely.

Chelsea Geyer

Why she hasn't watched it yet utterly confounds me!

Joe Blankenship

Spoiler alerts for BvS... but I want it known that Zack Snyder thought it appropriate that his Lex Luthor pissed in Holly Hunter's drink. I mean... that's a thing that happened.

Anonymous Groucho

How many do we gotta skip because I don't think I can sit through Wonder Woman 1984 again.

Joe Blankenship

Until the DC Universe produces better movies (WW was the exception), lets skip them and move on the KNIVES OUT franchise! LOL! Nat was ecstatic w/ the 1st one, Glass Onion is now available! Might even be better than the 1st

Alan Felicia

Oh man…In my opinion just watch Wonder Woman and be done….

mrhalfbit

Honestly I would take your own read on this… basically you can watch the movies you want to watch that you’ll actually enjoy (Wonder Woman, Shazam, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker) and ignore the rest because they don’t really require you to know much about the outside universe. Or you can eat your vegetables and do the homework of watching all the rest of it. But none of that matters because they’re scrapping the whole DCEU as we know it and recasting/reworking a lot of the stories. So it’s your own personal sense of thoroughness that I think is the answer here. Because there are SO many amazing movies and shows that you could be watching otherwise. But… let’s say you want to watch “The Flash” next year… then it probably behooves you to watch BvS and Justice League to understand Flash and what is changing in that movie. Blah blah… etc etc…

John Hoffler Jr.

I mean.....you aren't wrong. But at least the Ultimate Edition makes the peach tea smell better, lol

Game Wizard001

I also think Nat would enjoy Shazam much more than any other DCEU film we are all talking about.

Mastervodo

You mean the Wednesday that won a poll a few weeks ago and is listed on this week's schedule to start tomorrow - which is Wednesday. That Wednesday?

Mastervodo

At least Wonder Woman was good movie.

Alan Felicia

BvS is good if you watch the Ultimate Edition. It's a must watch for Zach Snyder's Justice League.

Bartman

Point to Nathan Smith...

Mastervodo

watch in bvs, WW, JL snyder cut. everything else is optional

Arturo Leon

Skip BVS, skip Suicide Squad #1. Suicide Squad #2 then Peacemaker series is the correct order. At this point you've seen the best DCU movie with Superman in it, and will be watching the best movie with WW in it. Batman in this series never became much more than a supporting character for some reason. Other than that I'd say get away from the Snyder-verse completely, Joker and The Batman have a much higher quality feel to them.

Steve J

Ugh why watch any of these? None of them are good.

Vincent Valentin

Wonder Woman, then The Suicide Squad. You don't need to watch the first Suicide Squad to enjoy the wildly superior sequel. THAT'S going to be a fun reaction video.

Kevin Maguire

BvS needs to be watched as the extended edition, not the theatrical. The extra 30 minutes definitely changes the tone of the movie. Then go to WW. Can't really fault Snyder as WB execs chose to intervene on the outcome of his vision of the DCEU movies. If you end up watching the Justice League Snyder's cut, you'll see a huge difference in what he envisioned vs what was released.

Soccerdmon

You don't need to watch both Suicide Squad films as they are both stand-alone films, not sure there good films 🤣, personally I prefer the 1st one but a lot of people don't like either films..

Baggie Mark

BvS is important if you wish to watch Justice League, Suicide Squad is very skippable

zak

Someone was a little too much in love with slow motion shots.

JayF

I agree with this opinion. Both Director's cuts are better than their theatrical releases. But... how much can one improve upon shit?

Anonymous Groucho

Batman vs. Superman is very flawed but does have the introduction of WW. Also Ben Affleck is a very good Batman (way better than Patterson). Also more Cavill, which is always good. Biggest flaw is Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor – woefully miscast. Treated the part much like Tommy Lee Jones did with Harvey Dent/Two Face in Batman Forever. Just laugh manically for no reason. Neither read the comic source material. To some up the whole movie in one word – Martha.

Rev.J

Again, if you want to watch a truncated DCEU, I'd suggest Batman V Superman, Wonder Woman and Zack Snyder's Justice League and you can skip the rest as they have nothing to do with anything really. And you could always watch them one day, but for now, for the people who DO like the DCEU, you'd serve them best watching the Snyder Trilogy plus WW. We don't mind if you hate watch them. Lol

Jason Dolan

If you plan on watching Zack Snyder’s Justice League, I’m afraid BvS is required viewing 😅

Jorge

Please don't watch any of these. They are horrible

Johan Sånesson

If Batman v Superman wins, even though it is much longer, I would recommend the Ultimate Edition (which HBO Max does have as an option). Just because it fleshes out both main characters more than the theatrical cut did.

Game Wizard001

It was pretty good for 2/3rds and then became a CGI mess. But it's easily the best of this mess of options.

Anonymous Groucho

I know this is a poll, but if you intend to watch Zack Snyder Justice League, BvS is pretty important.

Michael Rockenfelder

If you want the full emotional weight of "The Suicide Squad" then you should "suffer" through "Suicide Squad" Plus, Harley & Deadshot by themselves make it a decent watch. (And if you've watched Man of Steel, you already suffered through a bad movie)

Roman

This.

Jordan Love

They range from bad to worse so ... guess I'll go with Wonderwoman, it's almost ok.

Javier Vara

It makes no sense to actually watch the movies that come before. In terms of wasting time.

Anonymous Groucho

I'm just a fan of this movie regardless

Jason Dolan

Right? Also it helps that it stands alone from the justice league mess.

Lisa Tosti

Oh, you definitely don't need to see the first Suicide Squad to watch the Gunn version. Sorry, I missed that in your comments.

Anonymous Groucho

If you intend to watch Justice League, then watch BvS (ult. ed.) before WW. If not watching Justice League, just watch WW.

Rebecca Solomon

There should be a 4th option to do them in release order.

Essero Eson

It's not lol, the overall plot is still exactly the same

John Cedar

WW was overhyped but still a good movie. So that's the one I voted for.

JayF

Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition is a must watch just for the cultural conversation but it is also a pretty damn good movie.

Jason Dolan

I agree about Shazam. It's the movie Big with superpowers. What's not to love?

Anonymous Groucho

It makes no sense to watch it if you don't watch the other ones before.

Heliastein

Watch the Harley Quinn HBO animated series instead!

Adam Doyle

I suppose I can hate-watch Batman V Superman. But I really wish you had included James Gunn's The Suicide Squad.

Anonymous Groucho

Civil War is a good movie though. BvS is awful

Nathan Smith

I would go for Batman v Superman, as long as it's the extended "Ultimate Edition". Yes, it's 3 hours long, but the story works much better in the longer cut.

Patrick Egan

You can skip SS 2016 altogether 😂 I would recommend BvS Ultimate Edition if you intend to watch Zack Snyder's Justice League

Alberto Ramirez

God batman V Superman is awful. enjoy nat

Lobstar

Wonder Woman is (in my opinion) the only good movie in this poll. BUT, the other 2 are kinda necessary to understand their respective sequels (more-so Batman v. Superman)

Slick447

Voting for WW here. Really hoping Shazam is on the next poll. I honestly believe it's the best DC movie (maybe a tie with WW)

Lisa Tosti

I suggest you to follow the theatrical release order.

David Blake

I’m not really sure what the objective is here. Will Nat watch Justice League but not BvS? The Suicide Squad doesn’t need context but it’s already weirdness on top of grimness = good so taking out the grim just leaves a weird film… that’s the whole problem with superhero movies, If they can’t stand on their own merits the universe has to be good! Even Wonder Woman doesn’t end well…

George Baxter

If you’re going to watch Zack Snyder’s Justice League you’re gonna have to watch Batman v. Superman and if you do watch BvS watch the Ultimate Edition

Daniel Casillas

The "none of the above" option is invisible I think /s

Allan Rumberger

I think both of the Suicide Squads eventually, plus the Wonder Woman's, Dawn of Justice was not good to me, but I'm biased towards Marvel. Just to throw it in the ring, I'm sure others have mentioned it but for an upcoming series you should watch Wednesday!

Chelsea Geyer

Please don’t forget the Harley Quinn/Birds of Prey movie. It’s a pretty fun romp.

Eric Miller

Wonder Woman was literally The Best.

Jenny Chalek

BVS before (extended edition if possible) because that's where WW is introduced

Julien Grenier

I can't wait for the suicide squad 2021

Brian H

Wonder Woman was really great & the 2nd Suicide squad is perfect near. Batman under the Red hood I’d like to see too

Narutoanime16

if you want to watch snyder's justice league later you need to watch bvs, dont see why skip

Ren

I didn’t watch Suicide Squad and am not sure if skipping it will effect your trek through DCEU. I would probably advise B vs S and then WW (if only one then WW).

Patreoneer

Dawn of Justice should come before Wonder Woman.

Chris Haar

There is 1 good movie on this poll IMO. To all the voters I thank you for voting that movie

Joshua Kon

Yup. Dcu is dead by that point and it's a terrible standalone

Christopher Robles

Batman Vs Superman gives context for Wonder Woman and I think it’s worth watching because the former enhances your viewing experience of the latter

Mr. Redd

I'm excited to watch any of these. Will go for Wonder Woman as it's a fun movie with some good moments. Have a great Tuesday Nat 💛

Darryl Low

You really can't go wrong. Wonder Woman is the best one of these.

Christopher French

Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition should be the next one. It provides a soft launch for Wonder Woman.

Navjot Singh

I would go ahead and watch all of them. None of them are my favorites, but they should be seen at least once.

Brian Leonard

Why would you not just watch them in order. You’re just going to be confused in future DC movies

Seth Workman

Wonder Woman is the crown jewel of the DCU. That said her introduction in Batman v superman is epic and it would be cheapened a bit imo by seeing Wonder Woman first. Unless you have no plans to see BvS then by all means watch wonderwoman, it's a good stand alone. Just skip suicide squad, it's not important, not great, not even a good cringe movie imo. It's meh.

Christopher Robles

Black Panther is also introduced in his own film, but his first appearance is in Civil war. Nat didn’t skip civil war, she shouldn’t skip Batman vs Superman

Lemuel Daher

Skip suicide squad entirely and watch 'The Suicide Squad' by James Gunn. Actually skip all 3 of these.

adrianR31

She already watched man of steel

Christopher Robles

Wonder Woman is also introduced in her own film

PiratedTVPro

1. Skip first Suicide Squad. It’s hot garbage. 2. Go right to second Suicide Squad. 3. Add Peacemaker series to your watch list. 4. Thank me later.

Martin

I don't think it's that cringey, it's just not a great movie. Green Lantern would be a great cringe watch

Christopher Robles

100% voted Suicide Squad for the hate watch value lmao Jared Leto’s joker is so cringe it’s amazing

Ginbug

You can skip the first Suicide Squad but Batman vs Superman should be watched!

Lemuel Daher

Nat, please don't subject youself to BvS or Suicide Squad. They are painful to watch. (My fitbit thought I was asleep through the entire run of Suicide Squad. I wish.) Now, THE Suicide Squad (2021) is another matter entirely.

G. T. Blackwell

Where can we just vote, "NO"?

PiratedTVPro

Skip all DCEU until the newest Suicide Squad; the ones directed by Snyder are all worthless, the other range from fairly good to mediocre, then the new Suicide Squad comes in and is genuine quality

JD Sharpe

Wonder Woman is introduced in Batman vs superman please don’t skip it Nat!

Lemuel Daher

Happy new year Nat! Your the best

Rich Gunzz

You need to watch them all but Wonder Woman is by far the better film. Don’t watch Wonder Woman 2, I have no idea what happened to that train wreck.

Eric James

This poll should be interesting.

KeithJ

I think it would make sense to watch Wonder Woman before BvS. Even though the release order makes it weird (Thanks WB!) Also, I still think Nat should make Suicide Squad 2016 a cringe watch. 😆

Boomcity

Watch them all please it’s gonna be fun

Rich Gunzz

Honestly if you're gonna watch any of them you may as well watch them all in order of release.

Jeff Clark

I personally like them except for the first Suicide Squad. But I think she should form her own opinions.

Kristine Friling

Wonder Woman. Then The Snyder cut of the Justice League.

Magnus Thor Magnusson

If you do BvS, please do the extended edition. Theatrical is no good

Ian

Wonder Woman is the best of the 3.

Shanice W.

BATMAN VS SUPERMAN THE ULTIMATE EDITION, NOT THE THEATRICAL RELEASE! Trust me it’s way way BETTER

Daniel Luna

I cannot wait to see that man of steel review im so gassed!!!!!

Kyle

Skip all of DCEU

Tim
