I would skip the first ten minutes of the video. Natalie is basically rambling incoherently about never watching The Addams Family movies and pretty much didn't even know there was a Black and white television show and a Saturday morning cartoon in the 90's. Also about how her wine doesn't look red on camera. First time I saw Jenna Ortega was in X and later Wednesday. I didn't know she was in two Scream movies before that. Natalie hasn't watched the latest Scream movies yet? Jenna dropped out of the Scream movies to focus on Wednesday. Season 2 going to be more horror.

Redrum Ritual

You are going to enjoy this, and I am going to enjoy watching you enjoy this

Wilhelm Keidel

I know you probably won't see this comment, but you should watch Ginny and Georgia

Cohen More

Natalie, have you not seen the Addams Family movie from the 90s? It'll fill you in on all things Addams.

Joe Blankenship

My one complaint about this series is the awful cgi on the monster

MJ Eid

The Addams Family movie with the late Raul Julia as Gómez and Angelica Houston as Morticia is still to me the best version and overall casting of the family. Not that it's necessary to watch that prior to this show, but I would still recommend just because of the great cast and performances and to have just a bit more context on Wednesday and her background. Also seeing Christina Ricci as an even younger version of Wednesday is just funny and adorable especially with her being on this show now so many years later.

Unsecret Identity

I didn't know Alex reacted to shows!! Thanks for the info omg I'm gonna go watch him rn

Kate

I'm sad daredevil didn't win the poll, but I'm currently watching Alex Hefner watch daredevil so this all works out beautifully. I can watch two of my favorite reactors simultaneously.

Nick Luce

I wish just once Tim Burton would make a monster in his live action stuff that was actually "realistic", as in didn't look like they escaped from Nightmare Before Christmas. I had the same problem with Beetlejuice, the cartoon monsters kept taking me out of the action.

Richard Maurer

Not gonna lie, I had planned to skip this show entirely because I am generally tired of Hollywood (or insert applicable location if it wasn't filmed there) regurgitating the same IP's over and over again. (I was fine with the initial Addams Family movies after the TV show, but they've tried other iterations since and just... meh.) The Addams Family has been done to death, some versions better than others, and I also thought I was tired of Tim Burton, so this whole idea was a big "pass" for me. BUT.... ...you decided to watch it, and you have a knack for coming at a lot of this with perspectives I'd never have on my own, so I thought "Eh, why not." And I'm glad I did, because I genuinely loved this first episode. Though I am with you on that extremely Burtonesque werewolf, it took me out of the episode for a second. It's not even that I took issue with the style, so much as it just didn't FIT the scene. It had a weird "Roger Rabbit" like juxtaposition. Like, if the whole show was peppered with cartoony moments like that, it'd be one thing. (Like if the piranhas had been cartoony piranhas, for example. But they weren't.) It felt like an indulgence that didn't help the show necessarily. But that's literally the only qualm I had with any of it. Sidenote, the fencing was, I think, a callback to the show and movies, as her father Gomez frequently would fence people just for fun.

*Sings* I'm not a suuub, and don't forget it. It's juust a silly phase I'm going through!* (I mean, obviously, I am a sub, but you put that song in my head, so...)

Misty Crom

Yes, it was way better than I expected too. Ended up watching the whole series in four days, which is really quick for me.

Richard Maurer

I wasn't all that enthused about this show when it first came out, Tim Burton is pretty hit or miss for me. More miss than hit, to be honest. But having seen some pretty positive reviews from sources I trust, I decided to give it a shot. I'm two episodes in at this point and while I'll likely never be all "OMG this is the best thing ever!", I do find it pretty enjoyable.

Patrick Egan

I'm sorry but she didn't mess up. They're separate adaptations. It's not at all like watching Endgame before Iron Man, for example.

Eddie Green

The other choice would have been to wait 9 days and drop it on Friday the 13th

Ed Green

you're

Eddie Green

I didn't know Ricci had played Wednesday either. I'd never watched a second of Addams Family content before this show. Still enjoyed it though. Not a requirement to know the history.

Eddie Green

No, I certainly am not. And proud of it.

Richard Maurer

bet your fun at parties

Nic Benham

I get that but I was just pointing out who CR plays in this show. The original post was somewhat strangely worded.

Richard Maurer

They were saying Nat isn't familiar with Ricci's version of Wednesday not the she is Wednesday in this show.

Jack Burton

Okay?

Richard Maurer

Was Wednesday. Now she's Thornhill.

Richard Maurer

I'm against this

Vince Ledezma

She doesn't even know Christina Ricci s Wednesday!!!!

Vince Ledezma

OMG you need to first watch the original 90s movies before you see this I'm sorry but you messed up. Or at least don't go back to watch 90s version after this

Vince Ledezma

jenna ortega shines as wednesday addams!! so excited for the rest. also agree with you on the monster, it's a super jarring choice for sure

Ariana Mitchell

Garfunkel and Oates all day!

Boomcity

Tim Burton's monsters are never scary, unfortunately.

Richard Maurer

The actresses name who plays Brienne is Gwendoline Christie, just to cover all the bases.

Richard Maurer

One thing that's always bothered me about Tim Burton's stuff is his monsters always look too cartoony.

Richard Maurer

I agree the monster looks very weird, but I think that's more a Tim Burton influence than bad CGI LOL

FalcorDragon

Same.

Kev Martin

I love Riki! Even if she does look like Sid from Ice Age!

Mastervodo

My dudes...

Mastervodo

Droppin' this on WEDNESDAY, I see you. :D

Keith Jacobsen

You gotta have more than 1 episode a week for this or I will die from the anticipation and waiting xD

FatLittleButterfly

You've watched the shrek movies?

devin flynn

Yeah. When I saw it I immediately accepted it as being a typical Tim Burton monster so I was generally fine with it, however It certainly did take me out of the show a little bit, only because each time the monster pops up I can't help but think "Oh yeah, that's right. I'm watching Tim Burton" instead of being invested in the plot. Is it a bad thing? Probably not? I think it helps the show keep its whimsical nature and I really don't need some horrifyingly realistic monster for such a silly series. I don't mind it! I think the CGI is just a little kooky

Anomaly

Fun fact: monster look is a signature of the Director: Tim Burton. Throwback to his early animation work, Beetlejuice and Nightmare Before Christmas

Alan Felicia

I hate when that happens lol

Kozmo

Jenna learned to play a couple of songs on the cello for this show. She outdid herself for this role.

Sean

“The monster didn’t look realistic”

Bryan Bryan

Bit disappointed she watched the season preview. I preferred it if she went in blind.

Rime Pendragon

I'm glad to see Riki Lindhome in this. One of the few things that always disappoints me about Knives Out is how little she's actually in it.

G. T. Blackwell

According to Jenna's interview she had to learn fencing and to play the chello although they had a stunt double for the fencing part. Also if you didn't know she was the VP's daughter in Iron Man 3

Jayson Phillips

Enjoyed watching your reaction to Wednesday Natalie! Yeah, you're a bit late to the show on this one but it's all good. I'll enjoy watching you catch up with this one. :)

Logan Kerlee

I'm about 50/50 on the show, coming down on the side of liking it. There's so many parts that I think the creators missed the mark, but the performances, especially of Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers, really won me over.

Kevin Mowery

He already own it. The show was made by MGM studios which is owned by Amazon. Netflix is just hosting the first season, we'll see what happens next.

Myles Away

I've been waiting to watch this so I could watch it along with you, love it so far!!! SO glad this won the poll!

Jamie A-H

Absolutely loving this. It makes sense why Jeff Bezos wants to buy this show.

Walter Lopez

I would recommend that you watch the Addams Family movies from the 90s. They are pretty good. Also Christopher Lloyd plays Uncle Fester in them so another bonus since I know you liked him in Back To the Future.

Mario Serra

I knew you’d love it! Haha! 😆

Shanice W.

I really did enjoy the show so I'm interested in seeing your reaction to this Jenna ortega did learn how to play the cello for the show but what is heard in the show isn't what she played, the arrangement for the cello there is a bit too complicated for a lot of people :P also a little tip most red wine really should be room temperature and not cooled unless it says so on the bottle and then I redact my statement.

Happy Wednesday nat that was such a fun reaction I'm so pleased you enjoyed the first episode and seemed to have a lot of fun this is going to be quite the fun journey 😃 the record thingie is a gramophone and briene is the character from GOT you had on the tip of your tongue 👍. The style and sound on this show is superb and that spider web window looks amazing 🙌 looking forward to the next episode already

Ian

Impressive numbers, Joshua!

David Olden

Talked the wife and daughter into watching the first episode together even though they kind of gave a 'meh' to the idea. Two days later they had binged the series before I could even watch episode 2, lol.

Steve J

I really liked this show. I know it gets compared to CW, but I never watched a CW show, so, it's all good to me.

Philip Davetas

Jenna Ortega learned to play the cello for the show ;)

David Guin

I've heard good things and bad things. Guess I'm gonna find out.

Joe Blankenship

Oh it was trending while you filmed it but it literally exploded, 6 weeks on its only just recently lost the number one spot on netflix top 10, its currently 2. And only the 3rd show in Netflix history to be viewed over 1 billion hours. 1.27 billion actually, Second only to Stranger Things 4 for English language shows.

Joshua Russler

Happy "Wednesday" Wednesday, Natalie! 😊 As a fan of the "Adams Family" movies, I was really looking forward to this show. I think that I watched all 10 episodes in just two days. This will be a second time re-watch for me. Definitely looking forward to watching this first episode reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Randee Carreno

Yay! Can’t wait to watch on my Lunch!

Shanice W.

Watching Wednesday on Wednesdays 👏🏼

Daniel Casillas

Binged all of it on Monday. Not saying anything but you're in for a treat!

Boomcity

Yay, Happy Wednesday Wednesday Nat 😊 Been holding off watching this show so that I can watch along with you. Looking forward to seeing it. Your kooky intro today was so perfect and so fun Nat 😄 This show was brilliant and I can't wait to see the rest of the season. It's great that we've got Thing along for the ride too 🖐 Thanks for an awesome reaction today Nat. It was so cool 💛
