I'm really surprised you didn't know what a gorgon was! That's something that I've known about since always. Then again, I was prolly more nerdy than you were as a kid Natalie. xD I grew up with my dad always watching Hercules and Xena and since that was a show focusing on mythical whatnot from classic stories and myths it includes magic and magical monsters like gorgons and many others. The shows are absolutely dated and laughably cheesy but they're also solid entertainment. If you're ever feeling curious I urge you to give them a shot! :)

the ending to this episode with the monologue over the music is what finally got me hooked on this show, like i was enjoying it before that but not the most invested, but the combo of the music over all the plot threads and intrigue got me, and I was hooked after this haha

I enjoy the show, but one thing in this episode that annoys me is "Goody Addams." I'm not sure the writers understood that "Goody" isn't just a Puritan name, it's short for "Goodwife." Calling her "Goody Addams" is basically the equivalent of calling her "Mrs. Addams," and I don't think they meant for that character to be a married woman.

Glad I finally got to rewatch this one with you and to hear that awesome Cello version of “Nothing Else Matters”! Honestly Wednesday’s cover of “Paint it Black” in episode 1 was fantastic too, almost makes me wish they ended every episode with a cello cover of a classic rock song 😮‍💨😂 Also, and I mean this with love, you being confused at the mention of a “pigtailed upstart” even after the immediate cut to Wednesday with her pigtails full view was the funniest thing ever 😭 love the reactions, Nat!

I find this series' use of diagetic music interesting. Playing Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop," which repeatedly reminds the listener that "yesterday's gone," at an event commemorating someone from 400 years ago is either some commendably subtle irony or a very literal indication to the viewer that Crackwood is not actually in the past and will "soon be here."

In Greek mythology Medusa is turned to stone by Perseus, he tricks her into looking at her reflection on a shield. So yes that's a thing with gorgons. I like what they did in the show here implying that it's actually the hair that causes people to turn to stone which is why Ajax always wears a beanie.

I thought after 2 seconds she’d be like “oh DUH!” But she never did. It kinda reminds me of the anime Ranma 1/2 where everyone called her the “pigtailed girl” even though it was just a braid.

Ikr, they literally cut to Wednesday right after she says the line and Natalie was still like 'pig?...who?'...I was so confused by her confusion...I was like ' did they stop calling them pigtails and I'm just old? Wednesday's hairdo... she has pigtails... Do they call that something else now? 😂' but I think she thought it was someone with an actual pig's tail which is even funnier now that I think about it
